Mitch ACTUALLY went higher key than the original and believe it or not that is NOT the highest note he can hit AND sustain!! This was a birthday present for Scott...Scott was supposed to get to go see Wicked but unfortunately missed it due to him getting sick so Mitch did this for him

Can we take a second to talk about the SHEER CONTROL Mitch has over their voice!? Flipping from your chest to head voice as often as one would need to sing this song is really hard, and Mitch does it with vibrato, dynamics, and all kinds of riffs and runs as well. Really really talented musician

Every time I watch this and they get to the part where they turn to each other and say "Think of what we could do ... together" I think about Mitch not even done with high school getting a phone call from Scott about getting together to compete in the Singoff". "Dreams the way we planned 'em, if we work in tandem"

Superfruit was a weekly comedy channel that Mitch and Scott did for several years as they toured around with PTX. At times they are very very funny and when they sing it’s so good. Superfruit became so popular that they wrote and released a original album called “future friends”. Every video is great. Their Empire Medley is one of my favorites. A song they did with Toddrick Hall called. Black and white is great

Mitch is a counter tenor, he can sing as high/higher as a soprano.

Seen this a million times but I never get tired of this video. How can anyone not love these two no matter what genre or type of music you’re into. Yup, this is the original broadway key. And he changes the phrase slightly at the end to a note 3 steps higher than Idina Menzel did. I don't know if you read music, but the note he hits is a G#5.

ETA: One reactor made the perceptive comment that 'Defying Gravity' is pretty much Mitch's mode of existence, so that's probably what you were hearing in his voice.

The pretty wig makes a comeback in the Frozen medley. Very recommended, very funny, beautiful singing and a lot of alcohol. You also have to absolutely react to Rise. And for more fun, Broadway goes hiphop 1 & 2. And always stay for the bloopers😅🤣 Love watching your reactions!

Superfruit was a combination music, comedy & vlog channel. Scott & Mitch put out a video a week for seven full years, so there are a TON of Superfruit videos on YT. They put out two videos with Kirstie that I HIGHLY recommend, Frozen Medley and La-La-Land Medley. They stopped posting on the channel in 2019 with no explanation as to why, but they did a final video that sounds very much like a farewell, so it seems Superfruit has been retired...but at least all the videos are still available.

In addition to the Hip Hop goes Broadway 1 & 2, and Pop goes Broadway with Shoshanna Beam, please also treat yourself to the SuperFruit video of "Feelin Myself" and "Beyonce" (who retweeted the video with one word "Flawless").

Their Frozen Medley is another great one. Fun and goofy but still amazing

Mitch has one of the best voices in music.

Mitch's mottled neck and pink arms are a distraction, but it's easily forgotten when he starts to sing. Same with the Wig, which also appears with Superfruit in Hip Hop Goes Broadway and their Frozen Medley (with Kirstie). Frozen medley with Kirstin they all had had a few adult beverages. They started when they were 8 and 10 years old being in musical theater together. The trio. Loved the reaction. I take it you haven't done the star vista in Singapore aha! Yet. Mitch gets glass shattering high there and btw Kevin is there. He comes back on when Avi starts the song before two red bulls Mitch slays the song.

So, so happy you did this one! So many good ones to choose from - I like their Empire Medley or Frozen Medley, among many, many more.

Mitch is out of the world Scott is insanely talented too what a range. He sang so high too.

Watching you physically waiting and bracing for the high note was fantastic. And I've already seen it mentioned but Mitch actually took it, I believe, a half note higher. If I remember correctly, the original was an F#5 and I saw another reactor say that the note Mitch hit was a G5. So yes, he was in the original key and actually took it higher than the legend that is Idina.

This might be my favorite reaction to this. Most people who know the song are vocal coaches who come at it from a teaching perspective rather than appreciation... and people who watch to appreciate don't know the song and get stuck on trying to figure out the costumes. I hope you do more Superfruit... their funny stuff, their medleys and their originals. Three completely different experiences but all amazing. Superfruit was officially put on hiatus in 2019... but their original Guy.EXE has really randomly become a TikTok trend here recently which is giving them quite a bump. Even before the trend, Guy.EXE was a blast to watch reactors experience, though, so I'd suggest that one. My personal favorites are their album medleys for Beyoncé's self-titled album and Rihanna's Anti album, the medley FOX paid them to do of songs from the first season of Empire and their originals Guy.EXE, Deny U, Hurry Up, Imaginary Parties, Vacation and How You Feelin'. Also their cover of Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé's Feeling Myself... and, yeah, Hip-Hop Goes Broadway 1 & 2 (they're both really short and best reacted to together).

I love how Mitch plays with tone and timbre in this. Just going in and out of belt and chest and falsetto like it's no big deal.

I was waiting for this reaction and it didn't disappoint! Mitch emotes so well, I get goosebumps too. For other Superfruit videos, I like Feeling Myself (Mitch raps), Hip Hop Goes Broadway part 1 & 2, and Rise. They also did a couple "Evolution of" vids since you seemed to like Pentatonix's versions. Looking forward to whatever you react to!

Superfruit was just their fun way to let off steam. They put out some awesome videos. The Frozen video with Kirsten in it is great! Also they do a marvelous cover of Feeling Myself.

These two (and the other one or two they did with Kirstin) always amaze me. They obviously did /do these to partly be funny - but dead serious with the music. When I first started getting into PTX and Super Fruit, I liked to do these "comical" takes on some songs because it was the perfect way to showcase their individual voices and talents. Scanned thru the comments and didn't see anyone recommend one of my fave Superfruit videos which is The Promise - pulls the heartstrings. But generally, I love all the Superfruit songs because their voices just complement each other so well and it's clear they like performing together. More please. - Also read somewhere that Scott requested this song for his birthday....so they put together this little "skit" song/performance. He's said many times how much he enjoys Mitch's singing. Happy Birthday Scott :)

this was my introduction to mitch and scott, i was in awe of those voices, had to hear more and discovered PTX. This video is still in my top 5 from Superfruit. One other one I love is their Goodbye From Lonely. For a meta suggestion how about Shinedown 45

I’m a total musical theater nerd, but also love rock. Green Day’s musical was amazing live. Kind of fun watching the older, straight laced people with season tickets to the theat-AH in Houston walk out when they realized this wasn’t your typical Broadway show lol Thanks for this video though because I’ve never heard defying gravity done quite like this, they’re incredible!! Idina and Kristin may be taking notes!!!!

Pentatonix performed on A Very Wicked Halloween, a television show, and did “What is this Feeling”. It was fantastic. Lots of Kirsten too. Definitely check that out!

PTX was on a Wicked aniversary TV special, doing what is this feeling in front of Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenowith, if you can find that, it's also pretty good, with Mitch and Kirstie doing Glinda and Elphaba's parts.

Yep, it's the original key for that song - although Mitch threw in some extra bells and whistles for the ending line. 😁 You *have* to hear their 'Hip-Hop Goes Broadway 1 & 2' videos as well; it's a great showcase for their musical creativity and humour as well as their (very obvious) talent. Oh, and also 'Guy.exe!'

I know that Amanda Holden would say Defying Gravity is a hard song to sing (which it is) even though she did give the golden buzzer to a little kid singing Defying Gravity on Britain's Got Talent so I recommend you watch that audition

I'm a huge musical theater fan. I've gone since I was 8 or so ( cheaper than a babysitter back then) ( now I'm 50's). This is my 2nd favorite song from a musical ever and PTX is my favorite group, so this is absolute heaven for me. 🖤 Idina Menzel ( my favorite theater actor) is so amazing, but I think Mitch was a little higher.

Always watch after the subscribe on Superfruit video. I used to forget sometimes. Hip Hop goes Broadway is very funny. They used to room together and so it was easier for them to make Superfruit vlog posts. They made SF music when they had time off from PTX. SF fans termed “the Kids” always hope they will make more vlogs and music.

Actually, it's also about the costumes. They formed Superfruit for fun, and Superfruit doesn't take itself too seriously, never mind that their songs are perfect (they have to actively *try* to sing badly if that's what they want).

Check out GUY.EXE, Hip Hop Goes to Broadway is freaking HIGHlarious (Part 1&2!), or the Frozen Melody, Deny U, or hell basically any of their stuff and you can't go wrong! Scott & Mitch compliment each others vocal styles so well, and its no wonder since they've been best friends since their early adolescence years. So excited that you finally saw SuperFruit!!!
