They did this song as a response to the Pulse nightclub shooting. All of them are members of the LGBTQ+ community and this was their way of saying that love will always "rise" over hate.

Yes, this song Is an example of raw pain coming thru lyrics, loud & clear & beautiful. It makes me tear up every time! Superfruit is not necessarily acapella. It started as a vlog on a regular basis showcasing Scott & Mitch’s friendship but evolved into making music b/c of course that was gonna happen!!! They’ve made all kinds of music videos, some simple in front of mics. Others full theatrical productions! Future Friends and The Promise are two you might want to check out.
SuperFruit is Mitch and Scott. They do original music Future Friends. EP. They are silly and do a lot of covers too. Empire Medley, Feeling Myself, Beyoncé evolution. I love all their stuff. This particular cover was in response to the Pulse Club shooting. It was their response to the hate crime.
I echo Melanie. Brian Justin Crum from this video did a goosebumpy version of Creep on America’s Got Talent. It’s spectacular. He’s the guy in the white shirt here. I’d love to see you do a reaction here. The video is easy to find. He’s got a lot of other videos, mostly him and a pianist. Has anyone mentioned that this video here was made to support those affected by the shooting at Pulse in Orlando. It makes it even more emotional and affecting.

Mario has the voice of an Angel, because he is, but, PTX loves him so much that when he was working for them back when they were just starting out (Watch their movie; "On my way Home"), that they brought his parents out to a show..., because they had made arrangements for him to open for them that night, completely unbeknownst to him. They had even printed up posters and everything needed, not long after, he released his first album. Peace, Love and Light my friend!!!

Mary's part in this song always makes me cry. Her voice is beautiful and you can feel her pain through it. I love this version better than the original.
It was in tribute to the people that were killed in Florida at a gay club I believe. Brian Justin was on America's Got Talent, Mario Jose was an assistant for PTX on there concert tours. He opened for them a few times and went singing solo with PTX gratitude. Mary Elizabeth has sung with other performers, I know she's worked with Maclemore.

This is a beautiful PTX Superfruit cover, the 5 voices together as well as solo are just amazing. You should check out Superfruits GUY EXE, but don’t expect anything like this video, Guy Exe is hysterical, I’d love to see your face reacting to it, I think you will be shocked, but it is a really good fun video and a catchy song to.
Katy Perry "Rise" was written to be the NBC Anthem for the 2016 Rio Olympics. If you didn't watch the Olympics on NBC, then you probably never heard the song as it didn't get a ton of radio airplay. You know Mitch and Scott (aka Superfruit). Brian (BJC) was on America's Got Talent as a finalist and was brought back for another season of previous AGT competitors, which he also was a finalist, but he didn't win either season. I think he was robbed both times. Mario was part of PTX crew and got pushed into singing by Scott (& Mitch) and now is doing quite well with it. Such a great discovered talent. Mary Lambert is mostly known for her collaboration with Macklemore & Lewis on "Same Love", which is probably where you have heard her name.

For another stellar collaboration, check out Scott and Mario Jose cover of Lost On You by LP arranged over a Hans Zimmer track (from the movie Inception). It was pure genius how Scott thought to put that song over the Hans Zimmer track and it really was flawless. Mario Jose has such a beautiful, velvet tone to his voice and Scott, well, what can I say, Scott's voice is just beautiful in every thing he sings. It’s funny, I found Superfruit/Pentatonix because I flowed Brian Justin Crum. He was a finalist on AGT & AGT Champions. 2 recommendations- Brian’s audition cover of Radiohead’s Creep (from the show, not the recorded video) and his cover of Elton John’s Your Song. He’s amazing & I have no idea why he isn’t blowing up on RU-vid. Check him out for yourself☮️💟
Brian Justin Crum was on America's Got Talent and sang the song Creep. OMG! you need to react to that as well. Mario Jose, I believe was part of PTX's road crew and was discovered that way by PTX. Not 100% sure on that though.
I was going to tell you listen to Creep with Brian Crum on AGT He went up to the finals. His 4 performances were outstanding...breath control out of this world.
This is a powerful version of this song, and it's a response to the Pulse Nightclub shooting. Each person is magnificent, so much heart and emotion. I love this, and get chills every time I listen to it. Thank you ! :)
This was also structured like a PTX song, even with the piano. 4 guys, 1 woman. Mitch's voice is perfect for being in the treble here (and he is amazing here). Building the wall of sound after a quieter beginning, with everyone taking the lead very clearly (as PTX does so often). And ending with the pauses for dramatic effect and then finally in unison, like they do with Sound of Silence, Imagine, and Mary Did You Know (another one you need to do, but save it for Christmas time). They reached into the bag of tricks and they work. As always. And it was needed for the anguish and pain the community was feeling in aftermath of Pulse.

Brian justin crumb was on AGT mary lamber wasn't on a show but her girlfriend was on the voice season 1 or 2 lol and mario has had some videos but also he opens for ptx and was the bi annual penta-con.
Mary Lambert performed with Macklemore in "Same Love". She then took her parts from that song and came out with a knockout song called "She Keeps Me Warm". Beautiful song and voice.

Superfruit is not a capella but usually it's only piano. They are very, very different from PTX. They embrace the fact they're LGBTQ+ in a lot of the work they do. Superfruit's medleys are awesome, as are their originals (you'll love Guy.EXE). They are waay over the top compared to PTX, but so much fun!

Five individually amazing voices encouraging their community through this powerful song/video to stand and rise no matter who tries to stomp you down with hate. This song could apply really to any religious or ethnic group that is persecuted by their fellow man. This was amazing.
Please, do more Superfruit!!! You have some amazing videos and some amazing proper music from their album, so I would watch the videos first, they are amazing, they sing beautifully but it's usually more fun and you get to know them. I would watch the frozen medley, and defying gravity! Amazing videos, great singing, really fun! If you want to see a video from the album they recorded together absolutely watch Guy.exe, best Videoclip from Superfruit. I'm a great fan of their album.

Mario did not go to high school with Scott and Mitch. He and Scott were fans of each other’s music on RU-vid and the year Pentatonix won the Sing Off, that’s where he and Scott finally met. Mario sang on the Sing Off with his college group “Pitch Slapped” the year prior to Pentatonix competing. Mario did work as a tour assistant on PTX’s On My Way Home Tour where they surprised him to open for them in Boston as he graduated from Berklee College of Music there. Mario was well known in Boston from the many showcases he performed in while attending Berklee and Pentatonix knew it would be a treat for his Boston fans and Teachers for him to open for them in Boston! Mario is very good friends with the group and appreciates the opportunities they’ve given him and the love their fans have shown him. Contrary to comments by fans, was not given voice lessons by Mitch or any of the band. He has been singing since he was 2!
