Some people don’t understand about war and how Blizzard can write warstories. Burning the tree is just beginning, she just helping both sides be strong. There is very powerful enemies like old gods and demons waiting for Azeroth so both sides must be strong. Alliance fans should be thank Sylvanas for burning the Tree that chained night elves. Now that tree is gone and night elves will be more active and there will be more night elves stories. Horde fans also thank Sylvanas for claiming Kalimdor for Horde. Now that Tree is gone and night elves no need to return Kalimdor. If she didnt burned it, then night elves will try they best for reclaim Tree. Thankfully Sylvanas burned it and Alliance attacked Lorderan so both sides just fixed their weak spots and claimed both continents. I understand that lot of innocents died when burned the tree, but it was war and she hadn’t other choice. She didn’t blocked the escape path for innocent people like Arthas did. It is just night elves and alliance can’t helped them because they was not prepared. When alliance attakced Lorderan Sylvanas helped all her people escape and she was prepared(she always have one and another plans). So I think Sylvanas didnt do anything wrong :) Sylvanas is most developed character in Warcraft universe. Blizzard developed her character more than 10 years and I think Blizzard planning very big event for her. Her character development is very like Queen of Blades of Starcraft. I think Blizzard planning something like that what happened Queen of Blades to Sylvanas. Sylvanas was alliance, scourge and horde. So she understand all sides and only she can be savior for Azeroth. Maybe I am overthinking but I cannot find other character like Sylvanas who understand all sides very well.
Too many players writing to much thinking into this scenario. Human nature isn't that complicated in all honesty. The Nightelf pissed her off with the "hope" comment. So, she showed her the error in her logic by breaking her at the end. If there was no personality left, Sylvanas wouldn't have cared, but her memories still haunt her.
Roo nok and she knew exactly how to break her hope, because arthus did the exact same thing to her, by making her watch everything she loves and swore to protect burn while there is nothing she can do.....
I really, really love Sylvanas! She is my favorite character in WoW and someone I absolutely admire. Her past (and everything related to the blood elves) is soooo sad, so full of grief. That's why this makes me really depressed, I think she deserves a better destiny, more joy after all she has been through. I really hope she doesn't become some kind of Garrosh and they force me to kill her, it was bad enough having to kill Kael.

Although she doesn't believe in hope, I do. I'll only lose my faith in her when she is 100% dead. Even if she is the worst person in all of Warcraft right now, there's always the possibility of redemption.
If you put your faith into someone who doesn't care about the people she's supposed to lead, is obviously evil, manipulative and powerhungry and is willing to murder hundreds of thousands of innocent people just to become more powerful or send a message, there's something wrong with you. How is this invasion different from Arthas' Eversong Woods invasion? How is she different from the person she hated the most in her life? She's been like this her whole undead life. Creating and using chemical weapons, murdering people and raising them as slaves. I don't really get how people are just now surprised that she is like this. She's been like this the whole time. She is evil, she cares only about herself and she deserves to be killed.
You're absolutely right. What Arthas did to Quel'thalas is nothing compared to everything Sylvanas did to Ashenvale, Darkshore and Teldrassil. But still I believe in her, because you can't change your way of thinking so easily. I have been supporting Sylvanas for years and now Blizzard makes a cinematic that has less than 5 minutes and I'm supposed to immediately start to hate her? You've always believed that the sky is blue, years and years of your life, and suddenly someone tells you that it's actually green. It is not easy to abandon the truth you always believed, old habits die hard. I need more, the expansion hasn't even begun, I need to see more of her acts. Then, if I confirm that she is a monster, still I'll silently grieve her fate, as I did to Arthas. I don't feel sad for the monster, for the murderer or even for the selfish teen he was. I feel sorry for the young boy he once was. He deserved a better fate and the same goes to Sylvanas. I feel sorry for the ranger general. I feel sorry for everyone who died. In a better world, a perfect world, everyone would live in peace, but peace is just like a dream and in the end death claim us all. So, the only thing I can do is grieve their misery and hope they find redemption. If, in the end she is the most villainous creature, I'll do my job and end her life. I'll do it sadly, but I will.

actually anna. if you watch the video it shows her killing scourge and THEN Arthas rides up to kill her. she didn't just power slide into him. hell you even hear his horse running up so in your own words. The fucking idiot needs to re-watch the damn video

nah it's heavily implied he was her lover before they both were killed when arthas shows up. and after she breaks free of arthas she hunts him down and saves him. he's completely loyal to her. So even if she dies he will hold up her vision.
I'm so glad you mentioned Before the Storm, it's an amazing book, and shows so much character insight especially for Anduin (my fav, sorry lol). Definitely a recommended read for everyone. I cried. A lot.
My guess is she will leave (get kicked out of) the horde and Saurfang will eventually pick up the mantle as warchief. What happens to her then? Who knows (blizz knows :P). Maybe she will try to usurp bolvar and become the new lich queen. I'd love to go back to northrend in the next expansion. Although i'm not so sure they would make her Arthas 2.0 it would be pretty cool. Guess I just miss the wrath of the lich king era of wow. :P

Killing her own people, committing genocide because a random night elf triggered her....yeah, as much as it pains me to say this as someone who used to love Sylvanas from warcraft through cata (when she was actually a complex, interesting character)...she's crossed a moral event horizon that in wow usually translates into being removed from power and/or being turned into a raid boss, and that's depressing because we already had that with Garrosh.
When Grom drank the blood second time, it was because ofthe night elves. Thrall ordered Grom to cut and gather lumber from ashanvale to establish the new horde. Little did they know it was night elven teritory.Night Elves attacked relentlessly without any warning so they triggered Orcs to be offensive.I don't like Sylvanas that much.I always picked Baine over Garrosh, Vol'jin and Sylvanas but here there must be something triggers Sylvanas to do this. They don't release warbringers for nothing. There is something big goiong on with Jaina and Azshara (which I beliave she is third warbringer) to justify Sylvanas' motives and make both factions "grey". I hope blizzard won't screw this like they did with WoD. What I really wonder is what will happen to Thrall and Vol'jin. People say Forsaken can't be influanced by Old Gods so Sylvanas is evil. What I say is they may influance Anduin,Greymane or Jaina etc. We shall see. btw Lok'Thar Ogar!

She was a coward. All she did as kill a bunch of innocents for the sake of proving herself right. It wasn’t for survival, it wasn’t for honour, it wasn’t for the horde, it was for a selfish reason. She’s become worse than Arthas - at least he had a deluded purpose for what he considered the greater good, but Sylvanas did this for her own reasons. The horde wasn’t built upon acts of cowardice, and that’s what this was. From her WC3 story to this she deserved better, because I feel like there’s no way out from this without it seeming like a cheap move. I feel like she’ll get overthrown as Warchief and go rogue or sacrifice herself and die by the end of the expansion.
Great visual presentation but I don't like the direction the lore is taking at this time. Obviously that might change in the future. The part that was the coolest for me was the explanation for her "make up" running under her eyes. Now I know that it was her own tears that stained/scar her during the transformation into a banshee.
Your reaction was my own reaction as well! Sylvanas is my FAVORITE. I adore the fuck out of her. But I will tell you this, although I’m sure you’ve already gotten it; prepare to be harassed by die hard Alliance fans and the Horde fans that hate her. People don’t know how to separate this game from reality and get REAL intense when shit like this happens. I was harassed all of Tuesday when this Warbringers came out simply because I stated my love for Sylvanas and maining the Horde. All in all, lovely video. xxx

so she hates the alliance due to a few racist generals who once were in charge of the alliance northern army and desires genocide against them for not saving the High Elves (mostly the blood elves now). I get it. But my characters who are human probably were not even born then and had jack to do with that (and through all the questlines as warrior and mage i cant think of any similiar thing ive been asked to do as pve alliance but if you can think of one let me know). (FYI: I mentally think of my two human alliance alt/mains not as native Azerothians but transplants like the orcs as the old dnd characters i took the names classes and races from were from a homebrew world (one of them) and later Greyhawk and later Faerun - the two most popular dnd settings ) One characters original homeworld (the homebrew one) was decimated by an undead lich mage named "Plague" and his 12 anti-paladin death knights. So he definitely does not like undead lol King Anduin for instance is so young that Im sure he had nothing to do with blood elf history. Isnt this systemic racism on her side lol? or is she truly just resentful of anyone still living (Anti-lifeism lol) and hides that behind her supposed loyalty to the Horde (as the dying elf insinuated) Up to this point what horde main city has ever been leveled and burned by the alliance in Wow? What is this supposed existential threat to the horde? Im just not seeing this. (I know what happens next week though). The Alliance has now lost Theramore and Darnassus. The incursion near the Tauren lands is nowhere close and that was contrived as part of the terrain swaps during cataclysm. I think the whole upcoming fight is due to dark influence from the dark evil old gods who are waking from their slumbering deep in Azeroth after Sarg. weapon pierced Silithus. My characters will fight some for the alliance (im not a big pvper but mostly a dungeon runner and raider) but im not all that interested in the current plotline as it seems so contrived. Ill mainly just explore the new continents and run the content. I do have an orc warrior thats 100 so i might level him up to 110 in a few months to run the horde side.
As a Warcraft III fan, the scene where Arthas turns her into a banshee was awesome. But, i think this narrative for a character as the Warchief was just lazy writing.
I like this story the same way I liked the Joker in the Dark Knight. The morally Gray villain itself is now a massive cliche (everyone expects it) and extremely boring because it has been used in EVERYTHING in the past 30 years.
At one point she was fighting for the Horde. But now she is leading her own war using the Horde to aid her in her conquest. What innocent goblin miners? I hope you don't mean the ones that were mining the lifeblood of Azeroth, with the intent to weaponize it. Sylvanas was intending to use it as a weapon the moment she realized its power, while Anduin just wanted to secure it, and study it. He had no intention of turning the thing into weapons. Besides, these same goblins attacked people from the explorers league too, and even abducted a gnome and held her hostage to work on weapons. Innocent my ass :D
She’s gone full on Garrosh. After all the horde went through to distance from what Garrosh did, how can the others stand with her, especially the Tauren druids. I feel The Jaina episode was more fulfilling. It still gives me goosebumps.

I played Warcraft ever since WI untill Wotlk, for me Sylvanas was always a mediocre character, she is going towards Garrosh 2 type a thing, I dont like what Blizz is doing, poor writing skills. The Forsaken are not real horde anyway, just like belfs, the real horde are orcs, trolls and tauren.
you have no clue about what happend in hear movie, and maybe you dont know the lore. She is loyal and dont kill people like the horde. Maybe she turns around later but for bfa she just found back to his roots.
OMG its so crazy that she sacked a city we've been WARring with for 14 years. Its almost as if she's a WARcheif in the middle of a WAR over a precious new material that would be used against her in WAR. Think long and hard about your WOW careers... if you have EVER attacked and killed a mob who's name plate was yellow.. meaning non-aggressive... then you need to get off your hypocritical high-horse. You've killed plenty of innocent things in this game for 10g. and a belt you'll replace in a few hours. Sylvanas did it to further the hordes survival.
Andrew is right. This attack was a tactical move to ensure the horde dominance in Kalimdor and claim all the silithus Azerite without contest. Now it is very hard for alliance to get their hands on it.
nimmivids I get that people lack empathy. No one in life can fathom being a hero of your people. Dying , having you soul ripped from your body and then stuffed back in to be a puppet to someone else. You regain your sense of self and the people you died for turned their back on you. The alliance turned on the undead who were human.. iyou think you’d survive all that and not have a jaded perspective over right and wrong? And no. If a player is upset about a questionable act by a character in a game . But have themselves also committed crimes as a character in the game then they are a hypocrite? Alliance forming concentration camps for orcs who had surrendered? Don’t see how slavery is acceptable AFTER war. But bombing a city you’re at war with DURING war is unforgivable? Hypocrites
Andrew MacGregor Well, the Great Alliance of Lordaeron have his reasons to make the concentration camps for orcs I mean...a huge horde of extra-azerothians came from a big green portal and start a war and slaugther of hundreds of humans and other races (not only soldiers but womans, childrens, etc) for being manipulated by demons (but they drank the demon blood by their own) sooo...I think you are hypocrite too. :/ And Sylvanas not only burn people who where in war, she burn an entire ecosystem, animals, ancients of nature, keep going?
Bad video to start your reaction thing. Bad because a few reasons. Jaina's was better. Sylvanas just pissed off the whole Alliance players and also a lot of Horde players, but yeah, this was the last drop that filled the glass and even though she's worse than Garrosh, she dug her grave with this decision of burning the tree.. Sad. I was a big fan of her lore and even after death, but I'll have to let go of my appreciation for her.
