Just in case - Do not confuse the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising (19 April 1943) with the Warsaw Uprising (1.08.1944) - many foreigners either know nothing about the Warsaw Uprising or confuse it with the Ghetto Uprising

Theres a really good Polish book wrote by Aleksander Kaminski called "Kamienie na szaniec". It tells a story of 3 boys and their friends that fought for their country in the ww2. It describes how their actions were planned and other stuff. I'm not sure if the book has it's english translation but it probably does Edit: the book is all a fact

Thank you for your reaction. This part of history is very important for Polish people and it's, sort of, uplifling that our sacrifice is finally being recognized, mentioned and thaught too. I recommend to watch a full-lenght film called "Miasto 44" by Jan Komasa 🙂

As a Varsovian, I am proud of my compatriots as they honor their heroes every year on August 1st. Almost the entire city dies down for a minute, the view is amazing. Buses, cars and people stop. Sirens howl. At roundabouts people light flares, shout "hello and glory to the heroes" and sing the Polish national anthem. It's very touching. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ykBTvP6ZX9s.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uO5Gyu7ySes.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_w-bYEyWiH0.html

I hate political correction. White is white and black is black. Not nazis, they were not UFOs, but Germans. Hitler has been supported by about 95% of german people not only before war but it was ower 9Uu0% during war when they murdered our nation in death camps worse than animals (same are doing Russian savages on Ukraine now. Thanks a lot for being an ambasador of our history and sorry for mistakes in my English.

Would be swell if you could react to "Uprising - The 1944 Warsaw Uprising - Sabaton History 076 [Official]" or "Inmate 4859 - Witold Pilecki - Sabaton History 042 [Official]" - both have a real footage and a historian's narrative.

Hello. I watch all your videos about Poland. I am Polish, I live in Great Britain. I am pleased with your interest in Poland. Where does this curiosity come from? Case? So many movies in such a short time. That's admirable. I wanted to recommend you a series of short films "Polish Legends". These are old Polish legends, adapted to the present day - Tomasz Bagiński collaborated on their production, who is now creating the CGI series "The Witcher" of Netflix. As for "POLISH LEGENDS" I suggest you start with the movie "JAGA". This is the third movie of this series, but it has English subtitles. The series is available on RU-vid. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to know your reaction? I was happy to watch "POLISH LEGENDS", despite my advanced age. Sorry for my poor English - I'm a beginner. I appreciate your videos very much. Good luck. Leszek.

Every year, there is a concert of insurgent songs, broadcast by a nationwide broadcaster, there will be a live broadcast on TVP1. This is a GREAT concert featuring the last living insurgents and a singing audience. It is also translated for the deaf and you have to see it to believe that you can hear even if you are deaf. On August 1, on the anniversary of the outbreak of the Uprising, the inhabitants of Warsaw, together with the Choir of Varsovians, sing insurgent songs to commemorate the insurgents. This year, the theme of the concert was the beginnings of the uprising.

Book in english: The Auschwitz Volunteer: Beyond Bravery : Pilecki, Witold, Garlinski. Pilecki was codenames Roman Jezierski, Tomasz Serafiński, Druh, Witold was a Polish World War II cavalry officer, intelligence agent, and resistance leader. In 1940, Pilecki volunteered] to allow himself to be captured by the occupying Germans in order to infiltrate the Auschwitz concentration camp. At Auschwitz, he organized a resistance movement that eventually included hundreds of inmates, and he secretly drew up reports detailing German atrocities at the camp, which were smuggled out to Home Army headquarters and shared with the Western Allies.

3:05 The author is completely wrong here. The Soviet occupation was 1000 times worse than the German one. There is evidence for this in the testimonies and memoirs of people who survived in places that both occupations went through. 6:37 This is why these events are a source of controversy and debate about the legitimacy of the uprising. From a historical point of view, it made no sense at all and the revenge of Germany was unimaginable. But you can't judge the decisions of people living there

If I can make one more comment :Historians have determined that there were almost 300 foreigners who took part in the Warsaw Uprising. Among them there were representatives of many nationalities, e.g. Hungarians, Slovaks, Turks, Serbs, Dutch, Georgians, Slovenes, Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, British, Irish and even Germans. The participation of an Azeri, Australian or Nigerian is also confirmed. According to historian Dr. Rafał Habielski, foreigners who joined the insurgent fights were guided by "Polish-universal motivation". On the one hand, foreigners appreciated the efforts of the Polish resistance movement, on the other hand, they took advantage of the opportunity to fight the German Nazis who unleashed the hell of World War II. - Joining these people was a recognition of what the uprising is. It went beyond the purely Polish framework. It was a fight for the freedom not only of Poland, but of the whole of Europe, it was a fight against Germany - said the historian in a radio broadcast.

Don't say Allied pilots were incompetent. Because not right. They undertook one of the most difficult and dangerous tasks that pilots could receive during the entire Second World War. The planes took off from Great Britain. In order to reach Warsaw, they had to fly through practically the entire Western Europe occupied by the Germans. And on the way they had Germany and Berlin. Once they had airdropped over the city where the sky was controlled by the Germans, they flew to airports in Italy. Again over German-occupied Europe. Because there was nowhere closer. The USSR categorically banned them from flying to its side. And those pilots who had to land there were detained by the NKVD. So it was pure madness and heroism to fly over Warsaw.

It was hard time for us. We have been oppressed from all sides since ancient times. When we were a great country, we were invaded from 3 sides and everything was taken for over 100 years. It is unimaginable that Poland and the Polish language have survived for so many years. Until now, many of our monuments are scattered around different countries, even after the Swedish Deluge we were robbed from top to bottom. But we still survived. That is why Poles are characterized by the fact that they are terribly stubborn, one may not like the other, etc. but in case of danger, everyone will be like a brother to each other.

Every time when I watch it and I realise what does it mean it makes me cry ;(

My grandma that was in grey ranks was supposed to be a part of that hell. She knew that she is going to a certain death so she visited her aunt to say her final goodbye before going to Warsaw. Because of that she missed last train and after that there was no posibility to get into Warsaw because of german blockade. I'm probably alive because of that. But some of my kin took part in it and and somehow survived. I've heard some stories from them. For example one uncle that died recently at the age of 98. He almost lost both of his legs when tenement collapsed on his head after german barrage. He lived the rest of his life with a piece of shrapnel in his lung.
