Therion deserves more visibility in reactions. They are masters. Sabina, you can pick at random in one of the two lives called "Live Gothic" or "Budapest 2007". Each of these concerts has its own flavor. For example : the song "Midgard" from Budapest 2007 (since you've just picked from Live Gothic) ;-)
Hello my fellow Epican R Olsen. 😁 Indeed, I started my symphonic metal journey with Therion, some 20+ years ago. Shortly after that I discovered Nightwish, and then, several years later, Epica, which is still my number 1 to these days. But I can't really tell who is my number 2, whether Therion or Nightwish. Maybe I like both equally. Dimmu Borgir is a serious competitor too. 🙂
@@cancelled_user Pretty much the same for me. I do have a soft spot for BM so Dimmu is high on the list, probably between nr 1, Epica, and Therion and Nightwish. But Dimmu is not really the same genre as the other 3. I would love to hear Epica try some Black Metal elements in a song, some hypnotic atmospheric riffs with Simone singing on top...
@@rolsen1304 Yes, Dimmu is black but has really big orchestral sound, that's why I love it. I tried to find something similar in BM subgenre but I don't think there's anything like that. People say "Cradle of Filth" is like Dimmu, but I think they are not similar at all, apart from being in the same subgenre. Epica has some elements that may be considered black metal to some extent. Maybe on "The Divine Conspiracy". I know some fans would agree on this.

Best band in the world! Love love love them. So dark. So symphonic. So underrated. I love Nightwish and Epica but for me Therion are a level above. They are a very dark but beautiful band. Best in the world. I recommend Therion Nightside of Eden. Live at Gothic. Same concert

just seeing your face and feeling the intensity of therion in one of his works makes me very happy. a band that from its inception until now has undergone many changes. musically and with their voices and members. but they have already searched for the perfect way to express all their influences.

Yeah, Therion is so underrated band, might be nobody knows why... i seen them a several times, with a few different lineups and they always did surprise with something 😂 This lineup was far the best in my opinion. Btw Lori Lewis (the soprano) rejoined the band in their last tour. This video is from their Gothic dvd from 2007, the whole show was amazing and a massive rabbit hole 😉
Best band in the world... Hail to the masters... I suggest "Blood of Kingu" (Live in Miscolk), or for amazing long masterpieces: "Land of Canaan", "Adulruna Rediviva" or "Via Nocturna"... And then more than 100 songs. The journey is amazing, since no other band sounds like THERION... Greetings from Spain
You don't really know if you like it until you've heard the studio albums. The choire and classical instruments are mixed to high clean perfection. Maybe you only like the dirty mix that comes from live performances...?
I Love the dynamic in this. All the different vocalists, operatic singers, something with Tenor singers, Baritone and Alto choir. This is my Favorit Metal Band. I think the quality is insane and so different against to nightwish and co. Therion are active and release new Albums, with new members Thomas Vikström is Tenor and Metal Scream voice together and can change really good. The songwriter is the blond guitarist Chistofer Johnson the band leader and Maestro of great music. They're also Cover Classic music of Richard Wagner with their guitars. This is my Band. Haven't seen your video yet, I'm just so happy to Therion being reacted to. You also picked my favorite live video of them to react to. Pretty much everything from "The Secret of the Runes" and "Vovin" is great. I also highly recommend the album "Les Fleurs Du Mal", which is in French and I thhink it is all covers, or rather maybe rather their own version of a bunch of songs. La Maritza from that album is great. And then they have a shitton of great stuff mixed in with stuff that is a bit less great. Gonna watch this now!

In my opinion it is such a grand and epic song. I can't stop listening to it again and again. I think they were too early for this kind of music. Bands like Epica, Nightwish etc... made the songs less complicated with not so many shifts in tempo so that their music is more catchy. It is a pity. Perhaps you should update the header of this reaction. The song is not named DONE and the band is called Therion. Your reaction tells me that you were amazed abut the song :)

Nice video. :o) For quite some time, they used this song to open a gig. I was usually totally out of breath and exhausted after headbanging and singing my way through it. Great times.
It happens with Therion that the structures of their songs are not as commercial as other bands of their style. They are not songs that you can chant in a stadium at the top of your lungs. the lyrics speak of mythologies in an occult way, something not very commercial as well. It is a more cult band, although in their latest albums they have opted to sound more commercial. Greetings from Chile ❤️
Therion…Greek for beast. Very apt as they are a beast of a band with a sound to match. Magnificent vocals producing an operatic theme in parts and combining with some strong metal. The drumming is the driving force..stylish and providing direction. Wow, this is the first time I’ve listened to this band and it won’t be the last. Clearly a musical dish best served live. Sabina..your reaction…the smile said it all..awe and wonder. Loved the song and the reaction.
