You’re one of the only consistent voices of reason on this platform these days. And maybe the only one who simultaneously makes the most absurdist comedy. You’re doing the work that needs to be done here
He’s the Dad we never had… And we obviously don’t deserve. MY Dad is still out trying to find the Milk, so I’m really glad to have Scumbag Dad here to teach me right from wrong. I’m 43, but they say it’s never too late…
Fun fact: Most homeless people who end up involved in kindness content also end up getting their asses beat, they get jumped and robbed. All you're doing by filming people in those situations is ruining their lives. Wanna be kind? Cool, DON'T FILM IT. I gave a homeless guy a Dr Pepper the other day snd you know what I did? I went back home and relaxed because I didn't film him without his consent or harass him, he's well known within my neighborhood and is usually having manic episodes where he's talking to himself or his head is in the clouds. He asked me for a Dr Pepper one day, he's never asked me for any money nor has he ever harassed me so I gave him a soda and you know what? It felt good to do something without filming it to pretend I'm doing something good because you can do good things and not film them.
scumbagdad is so based for this. i never seen such a down to earth influencer (and "kindness" creators dont count lmfao). someone with your reach had to say this out and loud. thank you for staying true to your beliefs and no matter what ppl say, we're by your side fam
Update (Sept 30): Alan Colie was found not guilty of aggravated malicious wounding and malicious discharge. The jury sided on his side with self defense. However, he was found guilty of malicious shooting inside an occupied building and using a firearm during the commision of a felony. His lawyer argued that the conviction is inconsistent with Virginia’s law after the jury found he acted without malice and in self-defense. By acting in self-defense, it's difficult to argue that shooting inside an occupied building was a malicious act. He will be back in court on October 19. (I had to edit my comment because I've seen conflicting report malicious shooting inside an occupied building charge on Sept 29. Every article about the case you can found online seems to have been updated on Sept 30.)
I'm confident the rest will be thrown out at the next date. Whatever happens, hopefully it sets precedent and stops all these idiots from continuing their "pranks". Surprised every day that kids keep doing these despite the past deaths.
"Creators" (more specifically the regurgitators kind) do share their opinions, so... Have fun? They arent down to earth tho, being caught up in visions of fame and hood image...
I had an old shitty book about pranks back in the day I got from a Book Fair. In the beginning it told you that the number one rule of pranking was to “never prank the three S’s: Strangers, Seniors, and School Teachers.” That advice has never rung more true than now.
I really dislike short form content but this guy’s content is always funny and honestly gives important criticism pretty often. Easily my favorite shorts creator
@@dangolboomhowerFirearms are for self defense. This guy's life wasn't at all threatened by the youtuber. By your logic, it would be ok to shoot any obnoxious person in the street and get away with it.
As a Christian it infuriated me when the prankster said that he needs to find Jesus. JESUS NEVER TAUGHT THAT IT'S OK TO PRANK OR HARASS PEOPLE! The prankster is the one that needs to repent.
The issue here is that he said stop and immediately shot him. This is why I’m New Mexico, they’re taking away guns. People don’t know how/when to use them. As for the other issue, besides this video, scumbagdad is an insane troll, so I don’t know what to believe!
Getting rid of legal firearms does not fix the issue at all. In fact it just creates more. Criminals and idiots who misuse guns will still be able to get them but than law abiding normal people who treat them properly will have nothing to defend themselves with.
@@huh325I love this defense. Where are the guns being used in crime coming from? I'll give you a hint it's not Canada or Mexico, because the guns used in crimes there also come from the same place as the ones used in American crimes
@@ilajoie3yeah let's get rid of guns it's not like people are gonna use trucks, knifes or acid. What's that? in europe there's guys using knifes, acid and trucks to attack people? How weird kinda like assholes just wanna hurt somebody and whatever they're using is just a tool for that? and what are bombs anyway? taking away a normal citizens right to self-defense isn't gonna stop lunatics from committing atrocities with anything that they can pick up and hurt you with.
@ilajoie3 are you intentionally missing my point? If you ban guns that doesn't stop them from being made, and it won't stop criminals from getting them. If a criminal or some lowlife wants a gun for nefarious purpose, *they'll get one*. You are aware guns can be obtained illegally right? And in that case, law abiding citizens would have nothing to protect themselves.
I'm torn because you can't shoot people for harassing you. But I'm glad the guy was found not guilty on all charges. I guess I'll do what everyone else does and convince myself his claims that he felt threatened, rather than harassed, by the man who was half a foot taller than him and flanked by a posse of support staff were sincere. Maybe it's even true and he realized he was about to have to leave the relative safety of a mall and didn't like how this might go outside with no witnesses.
To put it into perspective. The dude was harassed by MEN not "a man". There were 3 dudes, the main dude who got shot, the friend behind him gassing him up and adding to the "prank", and the camera dude filming him. People have already mentioned how the prank youtuber is 6'5", and the cameraman has to be somewhat close. The camera did look to be above the delivery guy's head somewhat. So you got a short dude being harassed by 2 larger dudes, and 3 dudes total. Then comes the justified nedd for his self defence. Delivery drivers' jobs have gotten much more dangerous since the pandemic, because for some reason, it's become more common for people to beat up random delivery drivers to steal the food they're delivering, or because people are trashy, bored, and simply want to hurt a random man. 3 dudes can absolutely do permanent damage or even kill you if they get you in a corner. In the video, dude has his arms full, so any self defence he could've done with his bare hands wouldn't match up to 3 dudes, 2 of which are much taller than him. He asked them multiple times to leave him alone and they wouldn't let up. Dude had every right to defend himself and his jury agreed. This situation is more than "shoot annoying people".
He wasn't found "not guilty." Murder/manslaughter charges were dropped, but he was guilty of using a firearm within a building because the RU-vidr wasn't enough of a threat to warrant the use of a firearm.
@@TheGalacticVoidi mean how tf he will know that guy is youtuber tho? All he know is 3 dude that is bigger than him is harrassing him with phone. He got a gun but who know if these guy also have one? They doesnt care that they are in a mall so who the fuck know what will they do once they go outside where there no people?
Got into a hole of watching these 'serious' videos and I got to say, they just make me enjoy your content that much more knowing how self-aware you are and that you actually care about people and their personal space etc.
In Italy is illegal to film stranger on public soil without consent, which gave us less street pranks. You can film, but you need to compile a form to put stranger's signature. I think this should be the norm, I know other countries in Europe does it, hopefully this will expand overseas too.
The U.S. has a state-dependent 1 party or 2 party consent law, meaning if there is a reasonable expectation of privacy, (depending on the state) either 1 or both parties need to be aware that they are on camera
@@Chrisrobbaop hasn't said it, but (if I remember correctly) it's not illegal if you don't share the video with other people. You can film me if you just have the video and do nothing more
@@ChrisrobbaGoogle maps always censors faces and license plates. And for police, they need to record or else there's no proof of crime in court. These are way different than shoving a camera in someone's face and harassing them, because they provide purpose and are resources to people
on one hand, dude was asking for it. on the other, he easily could've at least let him see the weapon before firing. usually when someone pulls a gun on you, you leave. he escalated the situation more than he needed to, and is now on trial for his recklessness.
@@DumplingDoodle Self protection is paramount. It’s illegal to brandish firearms, it’s not illegal to shoot someone aggressing you. Fuck around and find out.
Happy to hear such a real call to action! I love your content, mainly because I know everyone is in on the jokes! Beings dick to strangers isn’t funny, it’s just people desperate for any attention hood or bad, and real people get hurt! ScumbagDad has a heart of gold!
Even though the youtuber shouldnt have been doing this I think it was extremely negligent of the shooter. I dont see how he got it labelled self defense.
I think this is why I’m addicted to your shorts. It’s obviously you and your friends trying to entertain. Not trying to make y’all look good. In fact most of your videos make you look like an asshat but it’s not at the expense of anyone else. Love these videos man
I agree 100% with him Scumbag Dad is one of the few influencers i can trust on who wont do wrong things and this video should be shown to more and more people as its necessary people are just going crazy for getting views and popular its sad
Concealed carriers arent all paranoid, just prepared for an emergency. Better to carry a first aid kit and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
Did the man really think his life was in jeopardy when he shot the guy? If so then maybe he has a defense but the guy seemed to just be really annoying. The guy could’ve showed him the gun and he would’ve left him alone most likely or maybe even could’ve said something like “leave me alone now or I will shoot you”
@@MadameCorgiits sad some people genuinely treat scumbag influencers on the same level as murderers. Rage is a horrible weapon and even the youtuber who posted this video who probably advocates for changing content for the better uses it to his advantage.
Brandishing a firearm is a crime. Colie would have been convicted of a felony; all because these kids decided to randomly target him while he was working. Laws are put in place to cash out on law abiding citizens just as much as career criminals.
@@foolishlyfoolhardy6004i understand your sentiment but the argument "theyre in a public space" is fucking awful. What makes you thinking being in a public space makes it some magic bubble that protects from harm? Do you know what drivebys are? Is being in public gonna stop someone from walking up and stabbing me? No, the only consequence is theres more risk of getting caught.
shooting was a strong escalation but in his defense the youtuber would not fuck off after being told several times. people need to stop harassing strangers in public for internet clout.
I read your bio about "how you can make heart felt songs too" even if they don't sell you should put them out there. I haven't heard your music yet but I'm bout to check out.
The dude deserves to be in jail, for a little bit at least, people have went for far less, and not to mention the fact that he took a human life, one that wasn’t in any way a threat, he could’ve walked away,
How would you know if that guy was not a threat? You wouldn't feel threatened by a stranger not respecting your personal space? He was clearly walking away and telling them to stop harassing him yet they persisted. To assume someone is still not a threat despite all this is foolish at best. You should go outside more. That is NOT normal behavior that you simply shrug off.
@@luminouslight3579 tf is you on about, the only thing the douche bag of a content creator did wrong was annoy the other dude, his hands were in view, what he had in his hands were obviously none threatening. The other dude was scared, he was scared, he over reacted, and he should be in jail, at least for a little bit, some psychological evaluation would help too but he shouldn’t get off scot free, prolly you too cause apparently someone that invades your personal space in public obviously needs a bullet to the chest
@@jaypolas4136 Yes because I don't know him or his friends. Sorry but if you get that close to me, and you get closer and more aggressive AFTER I ask you to get back, you and your buddies are catching rounds. People get shot for way less. If you don't want to get shot, don't fuck with random people. I don't bother random people and I've never been shot. Simple.
Did he really deserve to be shot? Did youtuber present threat to that person? That's pretty rough to shoot annoying people that do not threat your wellbeing
I’m a fan of the channel and usually agree with your general anti kindness content / filming random strangers takes, but in this case, the RU-vidr was being kind of annoying and got SHOT. It was completely unneeded escalation, and the guy deserves to be punished. The RU-vidr was not being physically threatening whatsoever. This is not self defense this is someone who cannot contain their violent impulses and finally had a chance to act on them.
Those words do not mean what you think they mean. Stop trying to use big words to sound smart, it just makes you look smoothbrained and pretentious to those who do understand what those words mean. Sociopolitical = a word used to describe something that has to do with social topics and politics. Yes, he did comment on a social issue in a sense, what with all those dumb influencers. But it was decidedly not political. You don't hear him talk about gun control, or legislation, or anything even remotely political. Economic = relating to the economy, which is itself described as a system of production, exchange, and consumption of goods and services which facilitates the distribution of scarce resources. Tell me, where exactly does he comment about industries, markets, productivity figures, currency value, inflation, the price of goods, or supply and demand? Because he hasn't talked about anything even remotely close to that in the video. Therefore, he has not spoken any facts, let alone any assertions about thr economy or anything related to economics. It would be wise to remember the Dunning Kreuger effect - that the mark of a knowledgeable man is not that he knows much, but that he is aware of how little he knows.
Although yes he's being annoying to strangers and you never know what they will do but let's not forget the fact that he overreacted to the extreme. You can't just shoot someone for annoying you as much as we'd love to, and it was just an audio he could have walked away ignoring him and then the guy will get bored and bother someone else. If he started grabbing him or followed him for longer than I'd understand but he shot him after only 10 seconds of annoyance. There's a chance he'll die and if not he'll live with that wound for the rest of his life, then the other guy's catching a case and probably prison time as well yet he could have walked away, got security if things got worse or if violence was truly necessary then a shove or a punch should be the next option, not straight up shooting them. There's 2 lessons to be learned here, 1 don't be stupid and bother strangers, you don't know what they're gonna do, and 2 don't shoot people for simply annoying you, find another way and only use it as a last resort.
Some people don’t play that game, some people are ready to lose it all for absolutely nothing. Everyone is not the same or will feel the same about every situation, so after that 1st warning he should’ve left. Not saying it’s right but you never know what some random individual’s mental status might be.
@@ehtresih9540 plenty of animals would gladly eat us but removing even a single species will have disastrous effects on the ecosystem. Then there's always debate on what to do with the extreme criminals.
That guy was within a dangerous proximity and lets not forget the size discrepancy here. A single punch could result in life or death. Colie also had his back to them as he was trying to disengage yet they still followed him. To persist after being asked to respect personal space is literally the step before someone decides to strike, stab, shoot, etc. someone. For some, self-preservation will overcome social pleasantries in these types of situations.
That's not the point here, but having lethal weapons available at a whim escalates this problem to a whole another level. I'd expect a fist to the face, surely. But a firearm?
Uh no, people like those "pranksters" need to realize strangers like the guy won't tolerate that shit, and yes it is the point because if they weren't messing with him in the first place he wouldn't have shot like are you dumb? More pranksters like them need these type of lessons cause I doubt they'll do "pranks" again
Lethal weapons are available at a whim for a reason. Know what would have prevented this shooting? A piece of shit not harassing people for money. Remember kids... not everyone plays by the rules and eventually you FAFO
I'm with you. The filmer was a jackass and he deserves a good smack to the mouth, but shooting him? Lol! Who tf defends killing someone for being annoying? There were plenty of other people he could have gone to for help, he chose to shoot within a minute.
