Yes I have been under their spell for a while. Yuko is an incredibly talented woman, from her vocals, her piano playing, she's also a kenbu dancer (fans and katana) and she has taught herself the sanshin which is like a small shamisen. I will admit that the shamisen has always interested me, so it's sound wasn't new to me but I was blown away when I first heard Beni rocking out on one but the more I have listened to the band the greater the appreciation I have for all their talents. It's rare when watching them perform that they don't leave me smiling.
Love this group. Maybe the trance is coming from your ancestral roots, where others may enjoy it tremendously, but this calls you due to your ancestral roots. I love the vocals in this as well as the cultural instruments.
Her singing style is including 詩吟(shigin) Japanese guitar is 三味線(shamisen) Japanese clarinet is 尺八(shakuhachi) Japanese harp is 箏(sou)/琴(koto) Japanese drum is 太鼓(Taiko)

"Beni Ninagawa" plays "tsugaru shamisen" Yuko Suzuhana uses an ancient Japanese singing technique called "shigin". It is used to perform poems and short stories Senbonzakura is taken from Vocaloid so it is a cover by Hatsune Miku. It is about the westernization of Japan. Try "Sabakunokomoriuta" it is a masterpiece ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jxlwq27bX_8.html
Wolfpack's here. If you are interested in singer's technique mixing western style and Japanese traditional Shi-gin old poem recital style and Min-yo folk song style, check her UTube channel explaining with English subtitle how to sing Senbonzakura, yes this song. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QLuU4nHgVzo.html

No, I don't. I only knew how to count to 10 in Japanese when I was a child, I wish I knew the language, it is so beautiful when written, I use to watch my grandma write letters to her relatives back home, it is like art, so pretty. I do know "Mushi, Mushi" is how you answer the telephone and other simple greetings. LOL ~posted by Angie
