Everybody needs an Iroh in their life. And if you don't have one, be one.
@DoremiFasolatido1979
@DoremiFasolatido1979 6 дней назад
It's a nice thought...but Iroh is the way he is...because of what he went through. Not JUST losing his son...but his whole life before that. Iroh is extremely well-educated, and himself doesn't seem to have been subjected to the generational abuse that he and Ozai's father had probably been subjected to, that then somehow got turned exclusively against Ozai. Having said that...I'd like to see AI that is "developed" exclusively on Iroh and Iroh-adjacent ideas and information, and nothing else. And see how it goes. If it goes well enough...stick that thing on every computing device in existence by default.

Iroh is the pinnacle of true masculinity. Humility, compassion, joy, honesty, vulnerability, resilience.

What makes this show so god damn good is the writing. First of all, it's authentic. They talk like normal human beings. And secondly, they mixed the balance oh so well. Serious or heartbreaking scenes like this one are followed by humour like "You have a pretty strong scent". It's never over the top.

Zuko is liked by people not because he's morally perfect, but because he's not. Intentionally or not we've all made bad choices, made mistakes, we've all been selfish, hurting people around us, we aren't perfect, he represents everyone at some point in their lives. And Iroh represents the loving friends and family around us, that no matter how fucked up we are, they'll always be ready to support and forgive us. That's right, he's a perfect representation for everybody, representing through experience.

"I thought you would be furious with me" reminds me of what happened when he tried begging the Fire Lord for mercy, and what Zuko reflexively expected. I don't say "his father" because I (and many others) consider Iroh to be his real father, as Iroh shows here.

This show has some of the best written characters in cinema history. Iroh, Toph, Zuko, Aang, Katara, all of them are so well written and with their own character growth and development...this show is true genius. There will never be another one like it.

Ugh I love this scene! It hits hard every time. Zuko had this whole speech ready and fully expected to be reprimanded or turned away or otherwise called out for his betrayal and bad decisions. But Iroh was just like I don’t need to hear it. So much was said without being spoken in the way he grabbed him in the most lovingly aggressive way ever. Not only was he saying I forgive you, but I love you no matter what and in spite of your flaws. This is very much a happy tears scene.

Zuko is the Prodigal Son. He could have started with, "Father, I have sinned against Heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called 'your son.' Make me like ..."

Iroh always loved Zuko like a second son, even if Zuko didn't always express those feelings back, especially in the first season when his sole focus was getting back in his father's good graces by capturing the Avatar.
