I'm so excited to see that you added Borges to your TBR! He started my obsession with magical realism as a genre. Shadow of the Wind sounds amazing! I have to admit I have never read a book written by a Spanish author but I've been loving the films of Pedro Almodovar recently (Parallel Mothers is amazing if you ever have time to check it out) and now I feel like I need to finally sit down and read some Spanish lit also. I've also been wanting to get into non-fiction and Rise and Kill First sounds so interesting!

That's amazing! I have Borges' book on hold at the library, so soon as it comes in I'll get started! I've never seen any Spanish films but I'll check out your suggestion! 😊

honestly i'd love to do this challenge!! maybe i'll motivate myself to do it this summer haha but it seems super ambitious!! i cannot wait to see the vlogs + reading vlogs and omg so excited for you!! I hope you enjoy the shadow of the wind, i read it a long time ago and seeing a lot of booktubers talk about this book makes me want to re-experience it! there are many other great spanish books, if you like the vibe of that one i could recommend some!

I'm a year and a half into a project like this (it's pretty casual) and going alphabetically. I'm on the G's right now so I haven't made it to many of the countries you listed. It's a fun project but definitely leans heavy on the historical / contemporary fiction, and honestly a big impression so far is that they lean sad/somber, so I have to make sure I'm also reading lighter stuff in between. Good luck! I read The Fisherman for Borneo and it almost felt fable-like. The Gatekeeper looks intriguing (and I love that cover!)

Thank you :) That's great advice! My impression has been the same so I'll definitely be seeking out a variety when I can get it. Very excited for the fishman, you're the first person I've spoken to that's read it! - I'm also obsessed with the gatekeeper cover!
