In this video, we’re reading Tennessee Williams’ play ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ through the lens of 3 critical theories, namely feminist, psychoanalytic (the Freudian variant), and Marxist theory. I’ll be explaining what each of these critical approaches mean in the context of literary analysis, then diving straight into specific moments throughout the play to illustrate how we can apply feminist, freudian and marxist frameworks to deepen our understanding of ‘Streetcar’, its themes and characters. Definitely not one to miss if you want to level up your reading of the play and pick up some top grade ideas for your next exam and essay.
