I strongly recommend Antigona Gonzalez by Sara Uribe. Antigone is one of my favorite stories ever, and I always try to read retellings of it. You will not regret it! I just found your channel a couple days ago, and I'm going through your videos one by one. I am really motivated to keep on reading, thank you very much! Last year I read two books, hahaha. Coming from a literature major (hispanic) that's very sad. Anyway, loving your recs, and really I could listen to you talking about books for hooouurs.

Love the long book video and I'm glad you're feeling better! In May I read two books - The Search Warrant by Patrick Modiano & The Book of M by Peng Shepherd - that sent me on a little journaling adventure where I just let all my thoughts on Memory spill onto the pages. It was wonderfully strange that both those books revolved around Memory - love those serendipitous reading moments 😊

Welcome back!!! Ohhh, Paradise Rot! I also picked it up because of Rebecca and I devoured that in one day. So stifling and creepy in the best ways possible. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. I am also currently reading a book about writers writing; A Swim in a Pond in the Rain by George Saunders and really enjoying it!

It was so great! I really enjoyed Saunders' insights into the authors and the stories - it gave them all so much more depth than I would have without his thoughts. Also a confirmed appreciation for the Russian writers of that era. Looking forward to hearing what you think of it!

This week was crazy at work but I watched your video the day it popped up on my iPhone. So glad to see you back, I've missed you ! Glad to see you're feeling better and that you've been reading. I have to keep reading Rachel Cusk and Otessa Moshfegh. Thanks for the reminder ! I haven't posted anything in so long, because of my job and life (and it's 40°C today, so no filming either) but I still love watching my favorite RU-vidrs. Otherwise, in France we read Jean Anouilh's retelling of Antigone and it's very famous and is being played all the time. Interesting your review of Vladimir. Are you experiencing the same heatwave in England ? take care 🙂

thank you 🥰 definitely keep reading rachel cusk!! ohh i did actually read an article about anouilh’s antigone when i was doing some research around the play and it’s amazing how different interpretations have been created over time to speak to the politics of their time! i’m in scotland! and it seems like we are the sole country without a heatwave at the moment. make sure you stay hydrated 💧✨💞

@@jameskatie thanks ! you're so lucky to be in Scotland ! Here it's been so hot, I've spent all my afternoons inside .. the fireworks have started and dogs are barking (Bastille Day) The worst (hottest) is actually expected for Monday. I wish I could fly to Glasgow !
