Dude, i had gerd SOOO bad for years. Throwing up & everything constantly for years, then one day, it was gone, very very weird. Literally no symptoms at all. I hope the same for you. 🤞🤞 I feel for you. I haven't came across anyone since who have it, but it sucks. Much love. & Definitely putting Incidents Around the House in my tbr. Thanks for the vid!
I LOVE the way you talked about Incidents. I also love Josh Malerman's writing and the way that book wasn't just about a scary monster but also about the scariness of adulthood and coming to terms with the fact that your parents are individuals and human and flawed? I need to read Daphne!
Hey Gabby, I have been watching your channel for a while now and just wanted to say congratulations on the channel growth! Keep up the amazing videos because you and your channel are going places 😄
Oh my gosh I'm soo glad you liked Incidents around the house! I enjoyed it as well for my 1st Josh Malerman book lol. I read this with creepy music ambience in the dark which made the vibes even more eerie which was fun. Can't wait for the discussion!!
So I immediately went to check Libby for Incidents Around The House because of your reaction but of course it's not available. Then I found the audiobook on Spotify so gonna start that in a minute...in the dark 👀
Books are so interesting because I was obsessed with William immediately and read it in one sitting. The writing definitely didn’t deserve a 5 star but the way it made me feel was a 5 and new favorite for me.
Same! I LOVED William but Incidents Around the House was a big flop for me. It’s interesting to see how people take in and read things differently! I love hearing other perspectives like that.
Thanks, Gabby! I was pretty unsure about reading Incidents around the house but I’ll give it a shot. The way you reacted to it reminded me of how I felt about The September House.
I’m sold! Getting that and probably Daphne too. Thanks Gabby. Really well done video too, I was pretty spooked out watching it, with the music choices, your reading in the dark and the cool time lapse dark sky!
I loved seeing you read horror books in the dark. I have read both William and Incidents Around the House. I think I gave William 3 stars and Incidents 4 stars.
I am actually reading Incidents Around The House, right now. I’m only 19 pages into it but already the story is starting to freak me out. Now I am even more excited to read it after watching your video. If I love this one I will definitely be buying Daphne. This is my first book ever by Josh Malerman
Been waiting for this reading vlog that I had finished the Incidents Around the House already 😅 im still unsatisfied with the ending but its a very sad story...
I loved Incidents Around the House. I enjoyed William for the most part but I have to believe it was meant to be kind of campy. I loved the ending but the kills were all so silly.
I liked Incidents Around the House but I found it a bit predictable. I might pick up Daphne sometime soon. I have 11 days off of work and plan on reading during most of that
Omg about to start incidents around the house and William for a 24 reading vlog today!!! I’m going to come back and watch after but ahhh I’m so excited!!
I am sad to say that I wanted it to be more creepy. Incidents Around the House was hoping to be my horror of the year, but other mommy just really didn't do anything but be "creepy" from a kid's point of view. I also thought the end was a bit predictable and anti-climatic. I am so glad that it was so many peoples new favorite, and plan to read more from this author in future.
Would you, Gabby, or anybody else recomend Incidents... to someone who has never read horror and also actually is not interested of horror, but everything else you talked about the book was so facinating 🙈🤔 So is the horror really horroring (am sure thats not a word 😅) Thank You for the vlog and I'm really happy you found new favorit ❤
I really didn’t like Incidents Around the House, the writing was not for me. I didn’t think it was creepy, the whole book from an 8 year old POV with simple sentences and thoughts, horrible parents, and the girl trying to explain what her horrible parents were doing, like cheating, drinking, drugs. I also thought that it had a lot of tangents and overall not scary to me. I think I’m in the minority, but I’m starting to see that being an older millennial, I’m not invested in this new “horror” style. I think William was written with 90’s horror movies in mind, it reminded me of Chuky and Final Destination and I was living for it! But I do think the author is maybe an older millennial possibly a bit older, so I think that is why we clicked and I had the most fun I’ve had with a horror book in the last 10 years, (and I’ve read a lot) I was terrified reading William and annoyed reading incidents around the house 😂 That goes to show that if it sounds interesting, read it, others may not like it but it could be a five star for you! Thanks for sharing Gaby!
I’m with you on this. I also found those monologues to be so cringe,… who speaks to an 8 year old like that?! Even if they think she’s asleep, it’s just suck an ick. And if I see the word daddo one more time!!
@@nicmae5112 good to know I’m not alone 🙃 I was like… am I protecting an imaginary 8 year old? 😂 no… I was just annoyed because that was the scariest part of the book 😒😂
I loved Incidents but I couldn’t five star it because I wasn’t thrilled about the ending. I don’t want to spoil anything though. I’m interested to see what people think of it
W1LL1AM is one of the books I'm reading right now 😄 just started it. The premise very much reminds me of BETA by Sammy Scott, which I have but still need to read.
I’m sorry, but I could not get into the narrative voice of the book and so I DNF’d incidents around the house after reading just a little bit of the sample
Am I the only one who felt underwhelmed with The Incidents Around the House? It was a 3.5 star read still. It had me invested during the first half and the final half was underwhelming to me. The characters were not my favourite especially the mom. I only cared for the grandma😅
I was thinking the same thing because I have a double light and it’s rechargeable but it fades quickly it seems and doesn’t seem as bright like Gabby’s,so I was curious where she got this light ?
Not a fan of Wiiliam....could have been so much better! Looking forward to reading Incidents when my library gets it...just can't justify spending $40 on a book.
Gabby Are you going do to the next installment of Reese’s Book Club picks? I have read the October YA Pick Looking For Smoke and it was 5 stars. Still waiting for Society Of Lies to come in at the library. William sounds super interesting.
I hated Incident Around the House. Ursula was the most annoying character I've ever read in a book. At the end, I gave it a 2 star. My Goodreads review: Ursula was one of the worst characters I have read in a book. I like how the book ended so on here I will rate it 3 stars but really it is more like a 2.5 stars. At first I was stuck between a star rating of 3 and 4 but towards the chapters 40+ I started to dislike the book and was thinking of a star rating of 2 and 3. It all depended on the ending. I hated the mother and I have never hated a character this much. As far as the main character, she is just a child so how come she feels like a girl in like high school? She is acting too much like a teenager especially towards the end of the book. Also the whole Brian guy was a random part of the book like WTF? What was the point? I did not want to read the book so I just got the audiobook to make it end faster and I’m glad it is over. I must say, the audiobook narrator was great and really took on each character’s role.
I'm really hoping someone else on the Livestream will dislike Incidents Around the House like I did! 😂 I could rage about that book. Especially because the first half was really good and promising and then it took a HARD left turn away from cool, creepy as hell Other Mommy and became huge ick! I'm glad y'all enjoyed it but I have to point out, you HAVE to know it was really gross and not okay at all the way those parents talked to/around and acted to their child, right?! This isn't a spoiler but they drink and do drugs around their 8 year old and make her perform for their inebriated friends?! Hard no guys.....and I wanted to throttle that mother the entire book! She was the actual worst person in the world. More Other Mommy, more Grandma, less domestic toxic boring crap please!
I agree with you I didn’t like the girl being around the parents friends. I wasn’t a fan of the ending either. Anti climactic to me. I did like the commentary on being an adult, marriage and parenthood.
I enjoyed Incidents Around The House. Def creepy, especially coming from the perspective of a child. Josh Malerman strikes again. I would say, Daphne still creeps me out when I think about it.
