They have to work in such cramped quarters...look how tight that fire engine has it as they are backing it down the street. Only a few inches to spare with all those cars along the road. Woah...and then they have to climb the ladder with a car right there too. I totally admire their skills! :)
They had some rude people. They should appreciate the work that y’all do so that we can stay safe. I sure do appreciate everyone that keeps me safe and my family. Thanks to all that serve and protect.
Half measures avail us nothing! Clear the ENTIRE window! Look at all that debris on the roof. What happens if that window is the only way out? It's all gonna be in the way.
What? No coat or helmet? Bad practice. And what's with the waist strap on the air pack not being secured? It might get hung up on something someday during a search. Then what are you going to do?
Thank God no one was hurt. But that was a real shit show for the following reasons: #1… Forcible entry and the irons operations was not efficient and needs work # 2 in this day and age you don't stretch a dry line into a building or any compartment # 3 if you take glass or a window turn into door, clear the sash and clear the porch roof of debris
I heard that Reading Pa has about 90,000 population and they run only 2 FF's on each fire truck. NO officers except their rescue truck which has a Lt.. I hear they kick a lot of ass with the numbers they have. Their website says they have 5 engines, 2 tiller ladders and a tower and rescue truck. Plus 4 paramedic EMS units staffed by FF / Paramedics. I can't get past tiller trucks with a driver and tillerman only but that's what it's supposed to be there. Lot of action supposedly in Reading.
They also run 2 Chiefs out of separate downtown stations, though on some days it may only be one chief. But even with 2 firefighters a rig they still get fired knocked down fast..
They do kick a lot of ass. Some of the most professional firefighters I ever met. I’ve personally seen them work and personally know many of the firefighters. They do what they can with what they have and they do a great job. Sucks the city won’t give them the funding to put more guys on an engine or ladder .
