I understand that these were tweets from 2011, but nothing made me realise that fact more than the ice-bucket-challenge style awakening that was the name "Skrillex"

One time my college students peppered their final project presentation with status updates I had posted on Facebook when *I* was in college, and it was both the funniest and scariest thing that ever happened to me 😳 Luckily they showed a lot of restraint with their selections, and it was a good reminder to me to check my dang privacy settings!

My husband laughs at his own jokes so much that when he tells them, he interrupts himself to tell the punchline and then laughs so hard he can't talk. I love everything about it.

this is kind of wild to watch because 2011 was the peak of my involvement in nerdfighteria and this is making me confront the fact that that was indeed 10 years ago

It is now exciting like when a roller coaster is stopped for maintenance and you are in the wrong place, it’s very scary, there is nothing you can do, you have no idea what’s broken or what will happen when it’s fixed but every now and then you notice something from a cool new angle before going back to panicking.

I was in middle school when Hank wrote these tweets. I also didn't know that John or Hank existed, despite having heard of TFIOS. I am now an adult in college, and very aware of two nerd dads on the internet.

I can't believe the TFIOS cover was unpopular at first. at this point it's iconic, probably one of the most iconic book cover of all time even.

For whatever it's worth - I was at that 2011 Portland concert & remember having a great time, still even remember the other people on the bill and some songs that were sung (Hank sang Friday? The Rebecca Black song? Which I think was very new at the time?), but do not remember anything about shoes or lack thereof....

Said and shown starting at 2:53: More and more, I am reminded of how similar Hank and I sometimes are, at least in some respects. Why did I bring that up now? We both seem to laugh at similarly odd times, and funny things to us sometimes aren't as funny to other people. Also, our level of laughter and tone of it is somewhat similar. Is this too weird? Maybe I'm just making these comparisons because I long for the days when some of my friends and I can laugh at things we said ten years ago. Or maybe I'm making them because I had too much fun watching this video. No. Scratch that--"too much fun" does not exist. The point is: you two just made my day with this joyful piece of home sapien life. Oh, and that moment I referenced at the beginning made me literally laugh out loud, but more than that, contributed to this comment and was incredibly wholesome. And that was an understatement. Also, said starting at 3:47: Hank's laughter again reminded me of the comparison.

I remember why hank wanted to talk to skrillex, it was a passing comment about that he would know if crash course had become popular, that he would be able to phone up someone famous like it was nothing, “dont care who (throws hands) i dunno skrillex?!”
