If you like the cozy fantasy, you would probably enjoy Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson (you don't need to know his other work to get into it) and Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries (very historical). I've also gotten into T. Kingfisher this year, and while her works lean more humor/horror/adventure, they are short and fun!

Thank you for all of these recommendations - they sound wonderful! My fiance is a huge Brandon Sanderson fan but I don't think we have that one yet - going to have to add it to the list!

i love that you have a reading journal. i feel like i would end up writing PAGES per book and i wouldn't be consistent with tracking things anyway so i haven't ever had a reading journal really. i did try to do book related notes digitally but i do more commonplacing than actual reviews or anything. i just started using goodreads this year to track my books and occasionally rate/review.

Goodreads is SUPER helpful to be fair, I use it to keep track of what I want to read! And I actually draft my reviews in Goodreads first. I find that the amount of notes I take depends on the book... some I have ALL OF THE THOUGHTS on and others I'm like, eh. 😅

what a lovely flip through! i have my reading journal set up in a very similar fashion. i’ll be honest, i’ve mostly been reading manga and graphic novels this year. my favourite books i’ve read this year have been Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner and This Was Our Pact by Ryan Andrews. thank you for another wonderful video! 💛

Thank you so much for the kind words 🥰 honestly, totally valid about reading more manga/graphic novels - they're often so beautiful! Need to add those two books to my list - thank you for the recommendations!

Enjoyed the video so much :)! Really like your choice of books and I feel inspired to read some of them as well. My favorite book this year has to be ‘where the crawdads sing’ because I really resonated with the characters love for animals and nature. Thank you for sharing and I’m looking forward to your next video 🫶

Thank you so much for the kind words! If you do read any of the books, I really hope you enjoy them 🥰 oooh I've heard such good things about Where the Crawdads Sing - another one for my list 😅 hope you're doing well!

Thank you so much for sharing this! The way you’ve set up your reading journal is lovely! I keep a digital version of mine, but your journal makes me want to start a physical one and make it pretty and organized like yours ~ ☺️ I read The Song of Achilles earlier this year and I loved it so much. In fact, I think it’s one of my best reads of the year. But it made me shed so many tears that I was hesitant to start Circe. Seeing that you've given it a 5-star rating despite mentioning how it emotionally destroyed you, I guess I can't not start it now. 🥲

You're so welcome! I really do enjoy the decorative element of the journal - it's why I've always been drawn to paper ones rather than digital! 🥰For real, though - Circe is SO good. I'm yet to read The Song of Achilles, but I have it on my shelf... I'm so excited to read it, but also hesitant because I KNOW that one is going to make me cry 😅

We have such similar taste! Hamnet and Circe are both incredible and all time faves for me. 👏🏻 Oh and I loved tomorrow, tomorrow and tomorrow too!! Sounds like your taste is similar to my ethos 'i support womens rights, but more importantly i support women's wrongs!' 😅 Maybe try Lady Macbethad? It is about the real woman who inspired the Shakespearean character.

ugh Hamnet is one of my FAVES but I dont know many people who have read it. I would love to have a reading journal but I am too hooked on goodreads lol

it's SO GOOD! I always feel conflicted recommending it to people because it's just so sad. but at the same time, it's so beautiful! also full disclosure, I usually write the review in Goodreads first then transcribe it into the journal lol

My Scribd account really wants me to read legends and lattes but the cover… well I guess I judge books by covers. Your description of it sounds like it’s EXACTLY up my alley. Cozy fantasy without high stakes? Count me in!

Honestly, it's SO good. I also thought that it doesn't necessarily have the BEST cover ever... But I read it on Kindle first time around so I didn't really have to look at it hehe

Hellooo, thanks for sharing, I've added Hamnet to my list with sorrow and bliss. My favourite reads have mainly been easy going ones, glass house by Eve Chase, The Corset by Laura Purcell, The Familiars by Stacey Halls. I dabbled in fantasy, reading the six of crows and I was so disappointed, the hype definitely made it worse. Not my cup of tea at all. Currently reading This much is true, Miriam Margolyes book. Its great. In 2024 I want to write better book reviews. Hope you've had a good weekend, take care xx

Thank you so much for watching, and for the book recommendations! The Familiars is one of my favourite books EVER - you have excellent taste 😄 I've not read Six of Crows either tbh, another one where I'm worried about the hype... Hope you're having a fantastic week!

Loved the flip thru and your reading taste. Are you planning on using the same journal for 2024? One of my favorites this year is Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater

Great video, Ellie! Unfrtnly the only book i've read from the ones you showed i couldn't even finished 😂 (acotar), not my cup of tea at all. I did try to read Hamnet tho and I still want to, but some letter on my edition are different and that confuses my brain (dont know if this makes sense???)

Thanks so much, Bells! Ahaha I know my reading taste is... extremely niche and often kinda trashy 😅 so thank you for sticking with the video anyway! I still can't get over the weird font thing with Hamnet, I don't understand why they did that 🥲
