I think the whole small village where an elderly person solves murders is very inherently British even before Thursday Murder Club. You could argue that Agatha Christie did it years before with the Queen Miss Marple 😂

I’m glad you enjoyed the Marlow murder club. To be fair to Robert thurgood he is the writer of the death in paradise show/books but I can see the association with the thursday murder club. 🔪 🎃

Marlow murder club came out like 4 months after Thursday murder club, so either that was the quickest turn around ever, or was already being written. Publishing takes time

Ooooh, I listened to The Marlow Murder Club sometimes last year and Scribd suggested: If you like this, you might also enjoy The Ghost of Marlow House. Sounds similar, right? I must say I listened to book 20 in the series and it is still going strong :D The audiobooks are amazing. I am doomed.

Have you read Elly Griffiths' Harbinder Kaur series? I just read the first 2 books and they remind me of modern day Agatha Christie. Lots of references to golden age crime and gothic literature.

I am glad you enjoyed The Marlow Murder Club - I think I like them nearly as much as I do Thursday Murder Club. I bought The Three Dahlias after you loved it so much and recommend it. I have not read it yet - but I am sure I will enjoy it and get the second one too. At the moment I am reading Murder Before Evensong by Rev. Richard Coles (which as you know is in the same vein as Osman and Thorogood) but I sorry to say at half way through I am not loving it. The pacing seems off and the murder mystery aspect is very slow to get going. You asked for recs and this is kind of an anti recommendation -- but still if you do read it I will be very interested in hearing your views. Thanks for the great video.

I was given AHGTM by Simon and… boy. Is it so hard to finish ☹️ I feel like the story would have been better as a prequel. Showing off the hunting life of Freya. I HATED the cast of characters so much. It had flashy moments, but everything was so layered and bleh.
