Really good that you're joining us in Framed! It sounds great that you might buddy read with your mother, so good to have conversations about books as you go. So interesting that you've found a book to blend WW2 with art.
I find the suppression of art/culture as an act war so fascinating. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's Framed content. Thanks for putting this together.
Monsters is an interesting exploration. I'll definitely look forward to hearing your thoughts. I've got two shorties that also work for Framed--Boy Parts by Eliza Clark and Still Pictures by Janet Malcom. An accident, but a happy one! I've never heard anything about Mizora. Intriguing!
I recently read O Pioneers and liked it, but it wasn't my favorite Cather. I think if I hadn't just read Death Comes for the Archbishop (which is my favorite Cather, at least as of now), I probably would have enjoyed it more, so it might just be more of a timing thing. I'm going to be re-reading My Antonia this December--I remember liking it when I read it in high school, but I don't actually remember much of anything about the actual story!
I just realized that Shorty September is on at this moment and I think I will be devouring some shorty books. Now that you mentioned it, I really do think that my copy of The Lover is lost in the shelf 👀 But I'll be returning to Kuala Lumpur this month and I got another short Marguerite Duras book waiting there so.. it all works out 🤭
Shorty September surprised me too. I don't feel particularly prepared this year. Although its easy to find them once you start looking. I'm guessing you are returning to school so I imagine shorter books are welcome. Maybe you could have shorty 2025?
@@sarah-roadworthy I'm finishing my master's in February next year so I think I might be able to do Chonky 2025 instead... Unless if I continue studying 🙈
I did read The Strays a few years ago and enjoyed. I'm sure if I put my mind to it I can find some other options. I may look for more when I look for ebooks to take to Florda.
