I would hardly classify elm st and 9th and 12th st as the hood. Honestly the "hood" parts are like those weird half streets like muhlenberg st or going close to cotton st. Theres always something going on near cotton.
I moved here from Maryland in hopes of starting a new life and gotta say it's one of my biggest mistakes.. I've been here 4 years and now I'm ready gtfoh and never come back. I feel like the only thing Reading has to offer is that damn hospital..
I moved from a really nice charlotte suburb and went to high school at Berk’s catholic in reading suburb, now live in roxborough a Philadelphia suburb. I’ve seen a lot of nasty things as a little white girl and so has my boyfriend as delco blood as a white boy. We hope EVERYONE finds peace and stays safe out there. We love Philly and hope the culture changes back from filth and violence
@@ItalianStallion69 my uncle used to live in mt penn but had to move cuz a gang was stalking his house and harassing him and his family, now he lives in the suburbs and he's not looking back lmao
@@ItalianStallion69 LOL dude he got shot at, his dirt bikes got stolen multiple times, there were people that would just sit in a car outside his house staring at it all day, it was fucking nuts man
There used to be a store on 10th St. that I went to from time to time. This was back in the early 2000's. Never really felt unsafe there. It was usually in the middle of the day on Saturday, though.
if youre into checking out small hood cities, consider taking a stroll around Lawrence, MA, just north of Boston. Manchester, NH can get pretty wild in certain areas on a hot summer night too.
Most of what was on Pike Street all gone now. Goosehouse gone, 1402 gone, Mike's Rising Sun gone, Brass Lantern gone, all but the 'Pike' still be there. West Reading is actually still pretty nice.
The last time I was in this hood it was 1978, I robbed two women, stole their car and sold it to the local junkyard for 500 bucks. Had a great weekend going out.
Maybe I’m “reading” too much into this- but for being one of the if not THE poorest city in the country, it has beautiful architecture. If cleaned up, it may no longer have that title
I think its just how zoning used to be done since towns wanted to pack as many people into the area as possible to boost local businesses, plus to have things accessible on foot.
@@pod9363I’m from Pennsylvania, back when Pennsylvania was a colony the king of England would tax the people for the width and lengths of there house. Therefore people built row houses like London.another reason is because having houses close together made it easier for the people to migrate to there factory 🏭 jobs.Remember Pennsylvania used to be the economic engine of the usa at one point

The most vioIent areas have nearly 300% higher vioIent crime rates (per 100,000) compared to the nationaI average and aII of those areas are bIack. Do you need me to expIain anything eIse to you?

@@henryjohnson7083I have myself driven through at least 10 cites in PA and almost all of them looked like Reading or much worse, "Chester", York" "Wilkes-Barre" Philly, Kensington, . I didn;t see ONE affluent upscale city. I also have seen "NICK JOHNSONS posts on Penn on YT and he states at least a dozen cities were run down, isolated and just plain deserted.
