I love different book sizes so my bookshelves feel dimensional UNLESS it’s a series or books by the same author - those need to be at least the same height! 😅
Right I love the coziness and lived in look of different sized books. Too much symmetry isn’t my decor style, it feels too sterile or staged or something to me idk lol
with chapter length it always determines when I'll stop reading the book at that moment of time. If theyre long I usually go like 'I'll stop at the end of this chapter' but with short chapter I'm more like 'eh i could read like 10 more chapters' and it feels so much more accomplishing even if at the end of the day I read a similar amount of pages anyway.
i think the hate on colleen hoover is because her books 100% romanticize abusive relationships and just weird relationships? why does every colleen book have at least one weird couple? why are people dating their dead brothers pregnant fiancé? why are people dating their step sisters? their dead boyfriends’ best friend? their dead sister’s husband? why does every relationship in her books make me uncomfortable? i don’t judge people for reading colleen, i do however judge colleen for writing it
Oh my goodness! THISSSSSSSSSS! Honestly I don't understand how people can look over these things. It's one thing to like the books it's another to gloss over the problematic things that are in them. And I see sooooo many people romantize men in her books and I just can't.🥴
Literally this!!! I would say her books are easy and quick to read, especially when you are in a slump but you are so right, the way she writes relationships is soooo off putting
you quite literally spilled. people who are stans for colleen hoover won’t speak on this. I don’t bash those who read colleen hoover but it’s those who also romanticizes the relationships in them when they should not have happened. half of the female characters on colleen hoover have experienced traumatic experiences from the male lead & they still end up together? literally half of her books are like this & im not comfortable with it.
What I love about UK books? All of them are the same size. All of them. All different publishers have the same size and it's a dream to look at...my 3 US books stand out so much because of the sizes lol
@@temporaryfix106 well I am not from the UK but serbia so it's so hard to find english books and they are hella expensive so I would trade you if I could haha
I absolutely agree about the romance subplot is better than romance books cause if it’s a subplot you also crave more of the romance (if it’s done well that is)
I went from reading 15 books a month to 2 books a month. I kept slipping into slumps but after I slowed the pace had to start working and doing school a lot more, I started cherishing and craving to read. 10/10 recommend not rushing yourself. I started my reading journey in June and I now have 3 wall shelves full of books and i'm so excited!
16:26 well as much as im wayy faster reading on my phone or on my kindle, i LOVE reading the physical copy because 1. it makes me feel smart as heck 2. it feels better for my eyes and i get a good night rest because of it, but it differs from person to person!!
I’m so with you on the judging what people read like obviously everyone has different taste but it’s so annoying when people judge what others read and some people just get so mean about it!!!
Tbh, Colleen hoovers books are very problematic and i think that even people who like them will eventually stop praising hers books in the future. In a perspective of emocional manipulation and plot, her books really get me. i cry everytime even if im hating the book and her plots always leave me 😯. But while im reading them (i read 4 i think) i am hating how she romanticises abuse and manipulation and always get a happy ending for couples who should never bem together after the things that happenned
i dont understand how they are problematic. in the example of it ends with us, it is based off of a personal life experience where lily and ryle are modelled off of colleen's mom and dad. a lot of lily's thought process and decisions are based off of coho's mom. i dont think anyone has the right to call that "problematic".
@@SaraCarrolli same. I don't care if a relationship is toxic. I'm not trying to read a guide on how to have a healthy relationship. I want to be entertained.
Mariana Zapata writes slow burn romances that are over 400 pages but I don't mind. She writes them so well that the book flies by. The two Mariana Zapata books that I have read are From Lukov with Love and All Rhodes Lead Here. I gave both 5 stars. If you have a good romance plot, I don't mind if the romance book is over 400.
I prefer kindle over physical copy for multiple reasons: compact, light weight, kindle paper white has a backlight which makes it easier to read before bed, kindle unlimited, and being able to use Libby through my library on my kindle. I like a physical copy now and then to break it up but overall prefer kindle.
I also love hardbacks more than paperbacks which is so new for me lol I don’t have to worry about cracking the spine and I can put the dust jacket away while I’m reading the book lol
I like when books are different sizes, as long as the author/series keep to the same. But different authors and different series can be in different sizes. That's just me who likes things imperfect rather than equal, even.
for stand-alones and series I reckon triolgys and duologys are the best cuz they arent a treck to go trhough but it stills allows you to stay in that world for a little longer cuz if its just one book (unless its meant to be one book and your satified with that) you kinda just read it and then its over while duologys and triologys give you the chance to be like its not over yet! Maybe ill space it out a bit so I can savour it
i always pick celebrities to imagine. i’ve tried to stop but i can’t 🥴 like in the off-campus series i imagine Logan as Logan from Big Time Rush and that will never change no matter what he’s described to look like
I agreee with you on everything except dog earring pages :D as you said, when its your book, you're free to do whatever you want with it, but If i lend a book and one dog ear appears... a bitch is dead 🤣 I like my books pristine and handled gently with Love this video! ❤️
I like hardcovers more 😬 I just feel like the covers don’t get ruined as easily (I also think they also look better on bookshelves). I honestly don’t mind holding them, because it’s very comparable to holding a Kindle. *edit: may I also add that I think if I were to buy a paperback, I am much more open to having romances in paperback over fantasy in paperback… in my mind, it just feels right to have fantasy books in hardcover rather than romance books in hardcover 📚
lmaooo the tiktok hate is real, i once made a cute video of my boyfriend's bedroom and his bookshelf and so many people were like omg his books are red flags etc etc like so so many and i got so upset man
I doggie ear my books too! Annotating is too scary/permanent and vulnerable for when I lend out my books. To me they mark moments I find important or funny, quotes I liked, or when I'm reading a thriller or mystery it could be a hint to the solution. I write down my actual annotations in my notes if I want to
I don't like short chapters for books with multiple points of view. I love how long the chapters are in the six of crows, it gives the characters time to express themselves. But in single POV books I prefer a shorter chapter.
I agree with liking kindle>physical books, I feel like the books are cheaper and you don't have to read at night with your lights on.. also you barely have to hold onto the kindle you can just prop it up!
Personally I find hardcovers more annoying because the cover slips. But I kind of like the hardcovers better bc I can read it and not feel like I’m gonna crease the cover
Romance subplot is my favorite too. Nearly all my favorite books are fantasy romances. Sadly, I can’t find new original ones. If you have recommendations I would be really happy!❤
Romance subplot is also my favorite, and I really wanna start reading more fantasy romances. Do you have any book you would recommend? I´m thinking about reading the entangled with fae series but I wold love some suggestions❤
I don’t really care on height differences on books I think it’s give a bit more of a vibe when they are all different heights, BUT when book series are all different heights and different covers/spines that’s when I get irked off I don’t get why people hate hardcovers I love them, I don’t go searching for them but if I come across one and it’s a stand-alone yeah I’ll get it at least the pages won’t stick up when I put the book down 😂
I used to love long books a couple of years back, I remember loving some series and be really happy that all of the books are over 400 pages because they last longer. Now that I can't read that fast anymore they make me impatient. I also love reading on my phone/kindle. I can just read for two minutes when I only have two minutes.
am i the only one who loves the variety different book sizes gives you? like as an interior design addict i can’t stop getting different sized ones just for the sizing
In your vlogs you show your boyfriend reading too- so maybe a vlog of you reading his recommendations or he picks out a couple books for you to read in a vlog
In Portugal we have a standard that is like A5 page size. But I hate translated books so I buy most in English and I realized that they come in different sizes… and even the paper, it’s so annoying, it’s hard to hold, not so soft.. I sound soooo picky now whenever I’m ordering books from Amazon 😅
Absolutely agree with the kindle over physical copy. My reasoning is 2 kids under 4 means I have to drop and go so often that a physical copy just gets bumped up and my place gets lost haha
the two things i absolutely hate -when say a 23 year old reads a book KNOWINGLY reads a book made for like 16 year olds and say oh it was to childish like obviously it’s going to be to you like yeah it’s gonna be cringy to you but if that’s the only reason why you don’t like it that’s kind of stupid -when people say a book is overhyped because they didn’t like it, i don’t believe in overhype because it just wasn’t for me and that’s fine but saying that it shouldn’t be loved because you didn’t love it shouldn’t be normalized unless it’s truly horrible and problematic
Abt long books, I’m still scared of them even after I read Mariana Zapana books and bedding 13 and keeping 13. It depends just go for it but keep in your mind that you’re not forced to read that book (that helps me a lot )
About the epilogues, I’m the opposite I like epilogues especially for fantasy stories but I hate prologues. I always skip over prologues and never read them.
Omg on kinda the same note as different books sizes, I also haaaaate it when a series changes cover style randomly in the middle of the series. Like the ACOTAR series for example. It’s so infuriating that they didn’t release ACOSF in the old style at all. LIKE WHY?! At least make everything in the same style first & then change it! I don’t wanna have to rebuy the other books in the new cover style if I want them all to match
romance as the sublot is so much better! if im gonna spend my money on books (im broke) i will not waste it on a normal romance cuz theyre honestly all pretty similar and if I want to read it ill just read on epub or download it and if its really amazing and i cant stop thinking about THEN i'll buy it (Like the deal or love and other words for example). I was organising my book shelf the other day and I was like one shelf will be for series, one will be for other genres that werent romance (I legit assumed I had so many romance book cuz thats all I read cuz i read so many online) and then the last shelf will be for romance... I ended up having only enough romace books for half the shelf and the rest of it were book where the romance was subplot.
My favorite series is Discworld and my least favorite thing about it is that there's no chapters. I never got used to it. I like short chapters. For me it makes me wanna read something really quick. Like Once Upon A Broken Heart, I binged in like 2 days because of how short the chapters are. I don't know what it is but I like that way better.
The 43 books on my physical tbr ~ Finding cindrella ~ All your perfects ~ Finding perfect ~ The Alchemist ~ The witch of Portobello ~ The zahir ~ The fifth mountain ~ After the prophet ~ Muhammad ~ The Forty rules of love ~ The bastard of Istanbul ~ Honour ~ Three daughters of eve ~ Dear life ~ The effective executive ~ The power of your subconscious mind ~ Beach read ~People we meet on Vacation ~ This is going to hurt ~ digital fortress ~ Angles and demons ~ The da vinci code ~ The lost symbol ~ Shadow and bone ~ ruin and rising ~ Seige and storm ~ Six of crows ~ Crooked kingdom ~ Kuch or nahi ~ Hawa ke naam ~ Doosra qadam ~ Mere chahre ghar ~ Muhammad a prophet of our time ~ Tales of Shakespeare ~ World order ~ The cat stole my pants ~ The new atkins made easy ~ phir achanak yun huwa ~ Religion and families ~ Islamic way of life in the light of sirah ~ Al-islam book-5, a selection from the holy Quran ~ History of kaaba ~ The mystery of the missing man
i usually tell my friends about every book I read and how much i loved it... bu theres this one that I will never hype up (ive mentioned it a couple times in passing but thats it) or tell them they should read cuz i dont think some of them will like it and those someones are very opinionated so it scares me a little that theyre gonna ruin it for me
Ahhhh I loved this! I haven't had the time to go back and watch your vids I missed but now I do and I loved this one! TikTok is so toxic and very addicting. The worst combination! I think you should all have your own opinions and if you don't agree with people that's ok there's no need to be mean. I've been avoiding TikTok for the past 5 months 😂 I go on there maybe once every two weeks for like an hour or so and I hop off 😂 I didn't realize there was all this drama! Also my unpopular opinion is Madeline Millers books aren't that good 😅
Are we going to be seeing a colleen Hoover tier ranking book soon!? I love that you’re planning to read all her books before that video! Nothing is more annoying than when people try to tier rank her and half her books go into the “haven’t read” tier
I personally just dont really like Colleen Hoover and I think that we should not romanticize the relationships in her books, but don't judge everyone who does like her books. I do however judge her the fact that she wrote abuse and stuff like that as if its not THAT big of a problem. For example, I would have maybe 'liked' it ends with us if Lily sued Ryle, or I would have 'liked' ugly love if Miles just went to therapy.
I have only read one Colleen Hoover book which was it ends with us and it was really entertaining but I’ve decided that her books are just not my vibe. Maybe I’ll read more in the future but at the moment I just prefer other authors. Also I love your videos :)
I don’t get the Tamlin one… *SPOILERS if you haven’t read ACOTAR* I recently did a reread & Tamlin’s actions bothered me knowing he was doing the things he did bc of the curse. Like…it could’ve been ANY other human, I feel like he just *had* to have Feyre to break the curse & then he felt ownership over her & thought of it as love. I get he also went through traumatic stuff that wasn’t addressed & even though I don’t think he was this villain SJM is making him out to be, he’s still problematic
i really don’t particularly care for colleen hoover. i liked that her books we’re short but what i didn’t like was how she wrote characters that we’re in abusive relationships. it concerned me and i wouldn’t read any of her books. i hate doggie paging books. i hate bending pages to hold ur place. i want the book to be absolutely perfect. not bent. i do not agree with tamlin over rhys. rhys all the way!!! rhys treats freye way better. who keeps someone locked up, rhys gave her freedom, love, happiness, and the benefit of the doubt. he will always be better then Tamlin!! ilyyyyyy
i have so many series (i just started getting into reading) like the first book and i kinda get overwhelmed its ok if i have all the book of the series
I feel that people who complain about Colleen Hoover books and keep reading them just to complain is crazy to me, there are so many authors that you can read, plus I on,y sometimes read epilogues if I feel it ended off with a cliff hanger, but if it ended nice I won’t read, it might ruin it for me.
