@@blimeyifancyreading it is way better than caraval. Much more cute, whimsical romance. You should at least try it. Most people who don’t like caraval love this series! But if you don’t that’s ok.
I honestly didn't expect you to enjoy the ballad of never after haha. The YA writing style doesn't change in the slightest so not surprised. Also don't really understand why people gotta hate on you for not enjoying a book 💀 super unnecessary in my opinion (coming from someone who loved the ballad of never after)
yeah i think i just need to steer clear of YA now because i reaaaally don’t enjoy it majority of the time😭 and i know!! it made me so scared to post this but everyone has been super nice 🤍
I can’t believe you got hate comments for your opinions on the past video. You’re always so respectful when giving your opinions. This was such a great video and I loved this concept💞💞💞
I honestly love your attitude towards your channel! Just deleting hate comments and still being honest about your feelings is so refreshing to see. I 100% agree with the OUABH series and it felt like it was being made up as she was writing it!!
thank you so much!! i am far too fragile for rude comments so i like to get rid so they’re out of sight out of mind😅 and im so glad you agree!! ‘making it up as she was writing it’ is actually so spot on hahaha
The Once Upon a Broken Heart series is one of my favourites, but I can understand that it does read quite young. I'm sorry that you've been getting awful comments over it, it's interesting when someone else doesn't like the books that I do! I appreciate that you're not sugar coating how you feel. Love your videos always. 💕
So bizarre that people would leave hate comments. It would be so boring if booktubers never shared their genuine opinions on books - that's part of what I enjoy about watching videos. Plus, someone not liking a book I like isn't an insult on me as a person - it's not personal. Some people are weird!
babeeee i love the boys of tommen series and I am sooo happy you gave it a second chance even though you didn’t like the first book!! i totally agree with you in terms of like johnny and shan being childish in their relationship but i think that’s what makes it so real you know? like it’s very much teenage love! Anyways that was my two cents, love you and love your videos!!🩷🩷
Your story about going to the dermatologist was so enlightening and so relatable. I truly admire how vocal and vulnerable you're being able your acne journey. I totally agree, I've also had acne for almost ten years and it's literally like someone's crushing my heart when people point it out. I hate to assume but I feel like that doctor wasn't professional when examining you. Sometimes I wonder if these doctor possess any type of sensitivity training when examining patients because acne is such a mentally debilitating thing to go through and should be handled with the utmost sensitivity. Girl, don't beat yourself up about this because I would've cried too. So proud of you for acknowledging that the doctor hurt your feelings. That's one step closer to advocating for yourself. I also get anxious so I understand how hard that stuff can be, but kudos to you for recognizing hurtful behaviors when you see them. I'm looking into getting a dermatologist myself so I'm hoping your journey with accutane goes well!
she was honestly the least compassionate doctor i think ive ever been to!! it’s really hard in the UK because i waited SO LONG to see her that i can’t fathom getting back onto the waiting list just to get a new dr🥲 so i think im gonna have to put up with it for now. really hoping for a smooth journey, and i hope yours is too if you go down the route of seeing a dermatologist!! if its any reassurance, every single person that has commented/reached out has said that accutane was the best decision of their life🤍
Hi there! I was a pharmacy technician for 5 years and every story I've heard from patients about this medicine is that it did wonders and changed peoples' lives :) you'll do great and I'm proud of you for seeking out a doctor's guidance (even if the doctor sucked LMAO) because making that choice for yourself can be scary!!! I'm so excited for your skin journey and think it is wonderful that you've shared it with us. You're a light
I don't know why you'd get hate for expressing a valid opinion! People can be so unnecessarily rude. I love how honest your reviews/thoughts on books are, it makes me believe you more and that I can trust your opinions on things
I appreciate all reviews. Even the bad ones. It helps to have an overall feel of a book. I appreciate all of your opinions. And knowing you don't love YA, this makes sense. It's all good babe. 🥰 Thank you for your honesty.
I'm glad I found another person who didn't enjoy once upon a broken heart! It was so YA and confusing and I was baffled at all the hype. I finished the whole trilogy and couldn't really give it any higher than a 3 star as a series overall.
We love a honest review!! I honestly can understand your thoughts and feelings towards these books, everyone likes different things. Just remember everyone to be kind❤️
i will admit that accutanes side effects are absolutely awful and i did fall into a major depression but the results are amazing. i went on it very early so my acne did come back but not as harsh and now i only use prescribed skincare. accutane is so worth it and dont be like afraid of the side effects they mainly just come it waves if anything:)
Ellen the best part of reading is how subjective and personal it is! just because a book is trending or a fan favourite does NOT mean you have to enjoy it - and this is coming from someone who gave TBONE 5 stars!!!!!
I also have series that are like that. The first book in the brilliant series, the next book is things you find in a toilet bowl, the next one is brilliant, and so on
I love this idea, not a lot of people give things they didn’t like a second chance lol. Also when I went to a dermatologist, I was mortified as he got close to my face and started listing off every blemish to the assistant to record. Like I know that’s what I was there for, but I felt like I was a specimen under a microscope, rather than a person struggling with acne… I wish you well on your accutane journey!!
The concept is great, although I was worried you wouldn't like any of them. So glad you ended up enjoying at least a bit of what you read. love you ellen, soon you'll hit 20k, you'll see and then we'll celebrate
i think i’m gonna give it another few months if i ever do this type of video again hahaha😅 luckily it didn’t put me in a slump but it defo could have!! and i can’t believe im so close to 20k!!!! honestly baffling to me🤯🤯
I had acne when I was a teenager and it got to the point that I needed prescription medication to treat it; yes the prescription sucked but it helped treat acne during this tumultuous times. I also had adult acne and that also sucked. But considering how any acne comes up is due to my hormones, I decided to treat it and another issue with prescription (this time the medication focused on the other issue, but it does help with ant acne as a benefit; there are also those adverse effects but for me, the pros outweigh the cons). I accept my imperfections (acne scars and all) and maybe in the future I'll go to a dermatologist for health issues, but I'm not at that point yet when its reached my patience threshold to get it done. You didn't click with the doctor and I would suggest getting a recommendation and such to find another one. Hey, it's like this: if the therapist/doctor/etc. doesn't click with you, find another. You need to be able to trust said professional with your person and if you aren't clicking with them, then don't stay with them. I've experienced it and it helped (I was okay with a doctor but didn't really feel comforuntil.I changed doctors). (There were also times when I was not clicking with the professional but due to other reasons, I didn't feel like changing until I had to, and there's a difference in how I felt when I was with either of them.). So don't settle due to convenience and if it does feel "right" to you. (Also, there are also times when first impressions may be negative but consecutive interactions be positive; again, it depends on your decision if you want to take that chance or not.) Giving you 🙏💛💯 from the USA.
I love this video idea and it makes me sad that people were hateful to you. I love seeing Booktubers have different opinions from each other and being honest! ❤
Happy to see you've posted. I loved once upon a broken heart and think that you're valid in ur opinion of the book. I'm exited for your future book journey and have my fingers crossed for you to have many more amazing 5 star reads ❤
girl first of all i love your channel and i love how you speak your mind !! i think you should definitely give a shot to the third book in the shatter me series if you ever feel like doing another one of these videos i personally didn’t like the first two books as well but the third book is one of my all time favorites !! sending lots of love 🩷
I'm in my 30s and CANNOT read a YA romance or fantasy... I really get how you feel. I'm ok with YA thriller/mystery, but not romance. Your feelings are valid, and I really like your honesty 💜👑
Hey Ellen! It's impressive to me that you would even try these sequels based on the first books (especially the long ones). So good for you for giving them a go. Happy Sunday to you and Pep!! 🥰
I have pretty bad anxiety. I am meeting with my primary care doctor next week to figure out how to deal with it. I am looking forward to feeling better and feeling more like myself.
I guessed from your goodreads that this weeks video would along these lines! Im glad that the three books were better than the 1st books, im not sure if i want to read ballad anymore, i think my 4 stars were purely from the speed that i read it rather than the enjoyment 😅
hahaha defo give it a go!! the second one is still a suuuuper fast read, think i read it over the span of two days, and that’s coming from someone who didn’t like it!!
i started OUABH last year, in march. I couldn’t get past the first 60 pages. In terms of biding 13 i did like it, i found it eventful, i was kinda icked at the age gap, but i was 17 at the time so it was like ehhhhhhh imma ignore that. I’ve seen that age gap a lot in my school specifically and its weird but i just went on and i enjoyed the second more, even tho it took me longer to read.
yeah i think the change in age gap in the second one made me a lot more comfortable than the first!! im hoping to enjoy the 3rd and 4th books even more as i think they’re 18 and over in that one
I’m a 12 year old but based on the books I read , you’d never tell 😂! I’ve read 55 books this year and I read really ahead for my age. I LOVE your channel and it motivates me so much and gives such good book recs!!!! Love you !!!!!!❤
I will never understand when people get mad that other people don’t like their favorite books. That just means less competition for special editions for me 😂
I appreciate you for sharing your opinion, regardless of whether you like a book or not. Every single person is different and entitled to their own opinion. You keep doing you boo! I’ll be watching your videos no matter what! 🖤🤗
Girl! I’m glad I’m not the only one that didn’t like Once Upon a Broken Heart! I’m happy for everyone that loves it but I was disappointed. It was very young and was trying to do too much in my opinion. Glad I’m not crazy for thinking that 😂
I have read well known series by super popular authors and hated them, even though others around me enjoyed them. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with disliking a book. I don’t understand why you got so much hate for your opinions. The great thing about books is there’s something for everyone!
i agree! i do get sad that someone doesn't like a book i did but there's no arguing about tastes, people will enjoy different things and sometimes it either hits or it doesn't. i do find it silly to be hating on people's opinions when you can just go and watch another video of someone who did like it - that's the beauty of this space!
Right! Especially considering she's so respectful with her ratings too. She never makes you feel bad for liking a book that she hates. I understand being hurt that someone dislikes your favorite book but c'mon. There's no need to be hurtful towards the person.
literally!! i don’t think i’ve ever thought to comment on anyone’s video when they haven’t liked a book i loved😅 ACOTAR is my fave series ever and there’s defo a LOT of people that hate those books, but i’ve ever been offended by that!!
The ballad of never after is one of my fav books ever! But I can definitely see its flaws and how ppl don’t like it, I just was too in love with jacks to notice😂
I was this same way with Magnolia Parks 😅everyone loves it and I just…didn’t lol so bad I can’t bring myself to pick up the second one. P.s. do you have lash extensions or what mascara do you use?
YES i also didn’t like magnolia parks!! and im allergic to lash extensions so i do my own dodgy DIY ones🤣 i use the tatti lashes ‘invisilash’ glue with some of my fave strip lashes that i cut into clusters myself. i think i originally saw a tutorial on how to do it on tiktok!!
I was on accutane 15 years ago it was amazing for my skin… at the time I had to stop it slightly early as it started to badly affect my liver my skin stayed quite good for a while but then the acne came back worse than ever and I have severe photosensitivity particularly on my face which I am still dealing with all these years later I wear sunscreen (factor 50) but still burn my skin breaks out in awful hives within 10 minutes of sun exposure. Please really think about taking this medication I certainly wish I never had
Hi Ellen! I’m reading Caraval currently and I’m not loving it! I’ll continue reading it but I just feel like I can’t really get into the book. 😕 I’ll definitely try to finish the caraval trilogy and try OUABH trilogy!
I saw a comment saying you disliked TBONA and I had to skip over it.. like that book has my heart so it would've hurt to hear 🥺 still loved the rest of your vid tho 💕 I agree with the anxiety in appointment settings.. like I have to bring something with me to hold in case I need it.
You're not the only one! I HATED Once Upon a Broken Heart and completely agree with you! Completely convoluted and no storyline, also read like a child's book!
i didn't like nor dislike the caraval series but i'm super excited about jack's story but i actually dnf'ed once upon a broken heart. i'll just gonna remember jack in caraval😌
Listen I enjoy a good YA but I fully agree with the once upon a broken heart series. It feels young and at times rushed. I think I would’ve ate it up as a teenager. Love to all who love it I feel like I’m missing out lol.
I was on acutane when i was 20 years old. It was the best decision. I had severe acne and manor scarring. And it helped me so much. Yes the process is a bit intense i had to get blood work every month. Im 35 years old and i feel like my scars are getting deeper but thats with age. If i wasnt teying to get pregnant i would go back to acutane. So after baby #2 whenever that happens in a heartbeat i would go back to acutane.
heyy! I just wanted to drop in and let you know that you're not alone in not liking "once upon a broken heart" books. Personally, I struggle with reading the first one myself 😅 not sure if I will continue with the series either, so yeah, I understand your point and feel quite the same
I feel like with the once upon a broken heart series, the Caraval series should have been read first as they really introduce Jacks in the 2nd and 3rd books. I can’t say much about the OCABH series as I haven’t read any of them, but I’ve read the Caraval series and really like Jacks. I can understand though if you wouldn’t like those either as they are very very YA! I’m hoping I like the OCABH series 😅
i’ve read the caraval series!! i read them as and when they released so it was a while ago, so i didn’t retain much. i wasn’t a huge fan of them either😅 but i do think i liked them more than OUABH!!
You are the first person I have found that has said that they didn't like Once Upon a Broken Heart! I thought I was literally crazy for not liking it! I wanted to love that series so baddddd but I also have a hard time loving YA bc I'm 23 and prefer reading books about people in their 20s
I have an unpopular opinion in that I liked A Curse For True Love the most out of the trilogy, lol. I get it how you don't like them, though. Don't feel like you have to read what you don't like. We'll watch whatever you put up!
I didn’t like OUABH and the Ballad of never after. Personally I couldn’t relate why everybody else liked it. Initially I thought it was just overhyped but then I realised it’s too YA for me. I dnfed the curse for true love cause I just couldn’t get pass through it. Ended up searching for the spoilers. Thank you sm for being honest. ❤
I really like the once upon a broken heart series. But I need to say this. Totally okay you don’t like then ❤ everyone has a different reading preference right. If we would all like the same that would be boring. So here I am trying to send some positive vibes your way, really like your videos ❤
I did not really have any acne when I was a teenager, but after I had my two kids and was in my 30s. I started getting it really bad on by face. I stared going to my doctor to get my face cleaned. It helped ,but my face was still breaking out. It was just not as bad. Then I seen a RU-vid video and this lady was talking about food allergies and how she quit all dairy products to help with her acne. She said her face cleared up from quitting Dairy. So because I had tried everything I tried it also and my face cleared up. Now if I have something with dairy I will have a small breakout, but not like it was. I did not know if you have tried it or not. I hope you have a better time with the doctor if you go back.
Finally! I read the Caraval series and it was so hard for me to get through. I am going to be 50 this year. Much older than you, but YA just isn’t for me.
The fact that your books are so cheap 😅 I feel you on the Stephanie Garber’s writing..I’ve read “Caraval” and still can’t fathom how everyone is so obsessed with them! As for “Keeping 13”, I’ve been putting it off even though I gave “Binding 13” 5 stars, so Idk when I’ll pick it up but I guess is going back into my wishlist 😅
@@kellyschwartz27 I gave like 2 stars, I found it extremely slow, to be honest, but I’ve gifted it to a friend of mine and she loved it, so maybe it was not the right author for me
I'm glad to see that someone did not like the ballad of never after because I just can't get into the story. I enjoy her writing but the story just is not my vibes.
I didn't like once upon a broken heart either. I read the caraval books first and hoped the writing would be better but it was worse and I couldn't continue with the series. Totally get it
I love the ouabh series but I can def appreciate where you are coming from bc it reads like young YA yet the concept of it all seems a little bit more advance/technical and I think an adult writing style would have suited it much better!
I haven't read the other books you read on here, but the Knockemout series, loved the first 2, the 3rd the least favorite for me. lol. I enjoy your content btw. Definitely one of my favorites to watch. :)
I love the boys of tommen series, i can understand some of the hate on it, but that series, broke me ...not read the once upon a broken heart series yet
Oh god the Ballad of Never After and that entire series. I suffered through reading it because of all the hype. I thought it would get better in the second book, but no it got worse. The ending of the last book was abysmal and very annoying to me. Jacks was just an annoying male lead I could not like. Then if that wasn't enough the entire plot of the entire series is brought down to one petty person's childish decision. I couldn't even find a feeling of justice because they only got a slap on the wrist at the end. The writing was very young YA trying to be older. I typically do not like younger YA so that also didn't help me like the series. So no you are not alone in your dislike of that series. I respect those who do like it as not everyone experiences a book or a story in the same way. If that story is your cup of tea that's fantastic. Im truly glad it is, it just is not mine.
Girl don't feel bad. The Chloe Walsh books were DEFINITELY not for me lol I couldn't understand why they were so loved but I hated them. Not everyone has the same taste and we need to stop expecting that of people.
Girl, I feel you on the once upon a broken heart series, I tried to get through the first one and just gave up. Proud of you that you pushed through the second.🫡💛
