Hii, I loved this and personally recommend "After Dark" by Murakami. It still has the weird elements that make his books his but without over sexualizing both of women and the characters themselves. Its also takes place over the course of a singular night and the main character is a woman who is written well. There is also a lot of talk of jazz music including random songs throughout the story! so personally highly recommend that for your next Murakami read! Happy reading!!!

I really loved Kafka on the Shore, nevertheless I would also say that he is not good at writing female characters. I am currently reading 1Q84 and so far I would say, that the female lead in this one is much better.
