I also hate when the FL cheats and people justify it because she has a bad boyfriend/husband, especially when there's absolutely nothing stopping her from dumping him. Most of the time, her boyfriend/husband can't even do anything to her because the ML is strong enough to protect her. And I find it weird that she has little to no trauma from the abuse and once she leaves her partner for the ML, she's completely normal.
@isaa1782

In the worst cases the bf isn't even a horrible person but just framed as "oh so boring" compared to the ML (*caugh* After *caugh* Tessa's bf's crime was literally just wearing slippers). But the FL would rather cheat than leaving him bc she knows she can count on her bf to be there, while our bad boy ML will probably dump her cause "he's not good for her" 🤡

YES ON THE CHEATING TROPE. I’ve been writing a book for a while now (probably won’t ever publish, it’s mostly for me), and as I wrote, my male love interest just kinda naturally gravitated to another character. They had better chemistry than my MMC and FMC, so rather than write a cheating trope, I just had them break up amiably, and currently my MMC is dating the other character and my FMC is living her best single life

I only like stuff like that in epithet erased... of course, it's used differently. Examples: " “C’mon kid, let go of the damn thing!” barked the wolf, flailing her around like a dog with a chew toy. " [Context: Wolf (Dont think she has a real name.) is trying to steal a bag from Feenie, who isnt letting go of the bag. Me when She looked like a little lost lamb, politely inviting any nearby predators to eat her. It wasn’t long before she ran into a wolf.] " “It’s the worst!!!” she bleated. " [not sure if this one counts, but considering Feenie, the girl saying this, is often related to sheep... Makes sense. Context: talking about that one eraser thing where it smudges but then you accidentally tear the paper] " Trixie hissed at him like an alley cat. " [Also not sure about this one, but she's being related to a cat so I think that counts. Context: Rick was trying to be friends with Trixie.] and " “Fix him!” the younger sister barked. " [Context: Rick uh... you know we dont talk about the ending of chapter 7.] There's probably more, but these are a couple examples. Epithet erased is so silly i love it,,,, Look at this writing, it's amazing: --- That was Molly’s problem. She took way too much guff! If Molly were a doll she’d be fluff-’n’-stuffed with guff. Trixie had never been in a fight, but she NEVER took any guff. She was a verified no-guff-taker. 100% allergic to guff. Yes-siree-bob. --- All the other books I've read have such serious writing that it makes it boring.

For the growling thing, I also think this cringy when its in sexual contexts or as just a sound they do randomly, but when its used right it just describes the way their voices sound and it can be extremely effective and (dare i say) cool? Hear me out, in bbc radios version of hamlet there are two great examples of roaring and growling in Act 1 Scene 4 and in Act 1 Scene 5. In 1,4 after the ghost has entered and beckoned hamlet to follow it, his friends do not want him to follow and physically restrains hamlet. he's desperate to follow his fathers ghost, so he when he says the line "unhand me gentlemen" (literally so polite haha) he roars it. There is literally no other way to describe how the bbc radio voice actor said it other than a roar. its loud, has a rough quality to it, and demanding. it's not necessaaaaarily angry, maybe a little bit because he is being restrained, but its mostly desperation to hear what the ghost has to say. In 1,5, the ghost has just said "The serpent that did sting thy father's life // Now wears his crown." where basically hamlet realizes that his father was murdered by his uncle, so he says "O, my prophetic soul! My uncle?" (where "My uncle? is growled) its different from the roar because its not as loud, and a lot more angry. The thing with these is that in the right contexts its really effective when used to describe how they are saying something. if hamlet simply demaned his friend to "unhand me gentlemen" it wouldn't have had that roughness to it, because demands don't have to have that. same with the "my uncle?" part, if he had just shouted that it wouldnt have been rough and angry. and so i think it can be a pretty cool way to describe a voices quality. In hamlet, it doesn't explicitly say that they are saying things in particular ways (unless its sung), that's up to the voice actors and actors on stage, but when they do say things in growly or roaring ways, there really is no other way to describe it haha. so yeah, no random growling for me. absolutely not. but in an angry context? (nothing sexual. growling does not belong in an intimate setting like that for me.) go right ahead. it just fits sometimes haha Edit: i forgot to mention barking, but the only context i think that fits in is if it's some general or leader who is kinda full of themselves are barking out orders. It's like a loud, sudden demand for something, that is what barking is in humans. barks in dogs it also loud and sudden so i suppose thats where the comparison is drawn. other than that... no. (I don't have any hamlet examples of barking i don't think, none at the top of my head at least, since i already used examples from hamlet in this comment hahah.)

fyi i'm a Wattpad author, don't judge me (not all Wattpad books are bad tho there are some super good ones). the icks in this video i actually like (pls don't judge me, this is just my opinion): 1. sticking the tongue out. lol i love this sm as long as its not overused. like i have 2 characters who are siblings (one is 14 and the other is 21) and they tease each other a lot and the youngest one would totally say something salty and the older sibling would be all oFfEnDeD and the younger one just sticks her tongue out cuz shes like so THERE 😂also when someone roasts her with the truth and she doesnt know how to respond so she just sticks her tongue out like idk what else to do so im doin this lol. also her as a child sticking her tongue out. just yes. 2. "you're mine". ok i actually adore this in the right situation. but you say it like an actual human without the growling/barking thing cuz no X-X like if it's for comfort/reassurance, or if it's playful possessiveness, or just cute fluff. or if it's possessive but teasing about it, one character putting their arm around another and just simply saying, "mine." i just love it. dont judge me. 3. adults acting like kids... if it's a parent with their young child, it's adorable. otherwise, STAY BACK 4. "she's/you're not like other girls". in the right situation, i like it. like yah no 2 people are the same. saying something like "you're not like any other girl i've ever met". yah it's a lil corny but it's cute in the right situation. 5. only personality trait is being tiny. i hate this when its by itself, but if it's simply an aspect of their appearance that is touched on every now and then and not used as their only personality trait, it like it. the character i mentioned before (the 14 year old) is 5'0" and also kinda skinny, but she does NOT let that slow her down. it's an aspect of her appearance, and occasionally, her older sibling (the 21 year old, he's 6'0" and somewhat muscular) teases her about her being short and calls her a "noodle" bcuz she's skinny, but they're siblings ofc there will be teasing about that kind of thing. 6. the guy pushes the girl against the locker/wall to intimidate her. i actually really like this. don't judge me. but i only like it if it isn't because of bullying or harassment or anything of that sort. no just no. 7. singing. I FREAKING LOVE IT! but only if it's in the right situation. like playing a song and singing along to it or singing for a performance or smth. yes just yes. don't judge me. 8. when he whispers "i will destroy you". i don't like it between couples. if it's in the right situation between a villain and victim, it's good if you have the proper context and proper situation. 9. "crawl to me". ok in rare situations with proper context, i like it. like if the characters are injured and dying and can't walk or in a fire and need to stay below the smoke or smth then yah i like it. 10. jaw clenching. if it's in the proper context, it's not that bad. BUT NO BARRING TEETH, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. 11. moans and closes eyes while eating. someone wrote this into a scene with a sick character and i really liked it. if you write it correctly, it's really good. and only do it like once while you're eating. otherwise its annoying. especially if you're eating something you really love that you haven't had in a long time or if you're super hungry and finally eating something after a pretty good sized period of time without eating (unless you have an eating disorder or smth) 12. smirking. i fricking love it. especially if it's smugness or teasing or amusement or if it's a villain taunting the victim. i love it sm. 13. "just look at me" "look at my eyes" "i'm here" omg that's my weak spot, especially in dangerous or life-threatening situations or when a character is in a dark place mentally. i just love it. just write it properly and it's so good. 14. "baby girl" this one is so cute and sometimes the villain calls the victim that and it gives you another reason to want to murder the villain. and between couples like it's so adorable, especially as comfort. and couples say this in real life too so it's not like it's only in books or something. also between a parent and their baby/toddler/child/teen daughter. don't judge me it's cute ok 15. Gen Z or TikTok references. they're not all bad. it makes the teenage characters feel more relatable to me cuz i say some of that stuff pls don't judge me for these. it's just my opinion.

As someone who's German speaking I always thought "Schnecke" appeared bc of pastry. Like "Zimtschnecke" (cinnamon roll), that's probably called that way bc it resembles the spirals of a snail house. Anyway, guys unironically calling you "Schnecke" when flirting are 99% of the times some nasty, middle aged, drunken dudes who want to pick you up in a shabby pub

I wanna thank you so much for making this video as it is really cheering me up and distracting me from the incredibly painful period cramps I am expiriencing right now 🙏 I've found some of these tropes can work very well if the author explores or challenges them (for exemple I was reading a fantasy series where the main character has a lot of wolf characteristics from being magically bonded to one and the author instead of just saying "he growled" really explored the balance of his animalistic and human side through his body language and habits, which imcluded sometimes growling). Another thing that could work is the narrative challenging the aggressive/possessive behaviour of the character instead of romanticising it. Etc

Ok looking at the 'bad boy' ick I now want a book where the fl just talks to the 'bad boy' and he's an absolute dorky sunshine like- Fl: Everyone in the school thinks your a bad person. Him: Why? Did I do something bad? Fl: Nah but they said you did. Him: Ok but why? You ain't giving me an explanation...? Fl: Idk you look the part I guess? Him: Ok be specific... Fl: Your clothes. Him: I'm to lazy to color coordinate actual clothes, besides why would I dress to impress at school of all places? Fl: Your hair. Him: I ride a motorbike... besides i have curly hair... is that a crime now? Fl: That brings me to the point you ride a motorbike. Him: ... it's my dad's hand-me-down, frankly I'm surprised it still runs. Fl: You smoke. Him: Yes I'll admit that's bad habit, but I am doing better now. Fl: Sigh you're an idiot. Him: Hey! Fl: But I love you regardless. ❤ Him: ... *too flustered to try and make a comeback*
