Whenever I feel like I'm falling out of love with reading I'll watch your channel and usually get a book recommendation that I'll add to my list of books I wanna buy and then I'll wanna read more again and I wanna say thank you for that. Your content is SUPER entertaining
AHHHHHHH YOU REPLIED OMFG I LOVE YOU!!!!! I JUST FINISHED READING RAZORBLADE TEARS BECAUSE OF YOU AND IT HAS SOLIDIFIED YOU AS ONE OF THE ONLY PEOPLE I WILL TRUST WITH BOOK RECS!!
You should get a refund from Amazon for The Exorcist's House of the pages are falling out. That's crazy! This vlog is just making me super excited for Monster Mash! Those cookies you made sound so good! Love the fam supporting the readathons with merch. 💕
I tried reading Hex, got like 70% of the way through and DNF'd it, I did not care lol, and I had the SAME thought, literally reading it all "Why does this man have an obsession with nipples????" so happy it wasn't just me lol
I love this series of videos ! Needing audiobooks in order to engage isn't stupid. My husband has pretty bad ADHD and he struggles really hard to focus on physical books unles they really hook him in, but with audiobooks he can read practically all day and loves it.
Oh my lord the way you described Old Country and the scary naked guy made me want to read the book just for that lol. I also love It follows! I'm going to watch the movie soon and watch your livestream since I didn't get to it.
When you mentioned that you could maybe come back to that last book some day, it made me wonder have you ever thought about making a vlog dedicated to giving your old dnfs a second chance? It probably wouldn't be a good time for you tho now that I think about it hehe but it would be fun for us to watch lol
It isn’t unacceptable, as a reader - the whole reading and holding a physical book is an experience. It’s like going to a fancy restaurant and getting treated so poorly yet we pay such high price. “I’d send you a signed hardback if you didn’t hate the book” So petty and immature, is it really necessary to put that in? Lol. I think the negative review does bother you but that’s part of being a writer, not everyone is going to like your writing. I haven’t read it yet but kinda don’t even want to with how you approached this.🤷🏻♀️
@@elletinglesASMR I don't know why you are being so hateful. If I wrote a book and it was falling apart, I would be upset too! It is unacceptable. They should have done a better job at binding it. And offering to give her a copy that isn't falling apart is a nice gesture.
@@elletinglesASMR I just realized that you misunderstood what the author was saying, so I apologize for my comment. He meant that it was unacceptable that it was falling apart, not that it was unacceptable that she was complaining about it.
Hey Gabby, great video as always. I love your recommendation videos and reading vlogs. I had a reading slump of more than 3 years but after coming across your channel, I am on another journey of discovering my love for reading. My go to genres are thriller, mystery, crime and now I am leaning into horror all cos of your recommendations. Thanks for your suggestions and recommendations. ❤
Omg Gabby you need an e-reader!! I cannot imagine trying to read an e-book on my phone! I feel the same way about audible exclusive audiobooks!!! Ugh the worst.
So glad I'm not alone in my hatred of The Exorcist's House😅 Honestly one of the worst books I've read this year, which sucks because small-town and exorcism horror are two of my favorite things! I was so hyped for it, but to call it a disappointment would be way too generous lol
I can't believe you finally read Hex!!! 😍 I was hoping for it for two years now. :D ... ... I really liked it. I mean I hated most of the people in this shitty cursed town... And I cried a lot too. But over all I liked it. :)
Hey, I didn’t know that anyone else needed to read along with the audiobook to be able to focus! It’s one of the only ways I read anymore, it also helps me to not accidentally skip whole paragraphs and actually comprehend what I’m reading
loved this video too Gabby as always ♥️ Good luck with the upcoming videos..You have a great potential to be absolutely amazing..Once again congrats for 80k subscribers 💕
The Exorcists House is one of my lowest rated reads of the year too, and I DNF’d Old Country. I loved Silent Companions - there’s an old hall near me (actually in Washington, UK!) that has antique silent companions in it. So spooky!
I love these vlogs! 🤩 I really liked Hex! Thomas Olde Heuvelt is a great storyteller but I agree, a bit long winded! 😄, I just started Echo by him & loving it! But the audio is 19 hrs long🙈 …like dang if I wanted a Stephen King length novel I’d just read Stephen King 😂
Horror is such a hard genre to find good books. It’s so diverse. I’m old school so I lean more toward slasher type books. But like you, I hate anything dealing with abuse toward women and children. Love your content! I’m always waiting for the next great read!
I was really curious to see your reaction to The Exorcists House. A lot of people LOVE it but the writing drove me nuts. I think there was a lot of potential with the story.. but the writing kept pulling me out of the story so I could never get fully invested.
I felt the same way about Old Country. I was so excited for it, but man was it a struggle. I hated knowing what was going to happen ahead of time. Hated Babe 1 and Babe 2 and hated the ending. whomp whomp.
Seeing a new video from you makes my dayyy girl! Btw tank is adorable with his little grunts and snores, the cookies you got are the only variety I buy 😂 I love the caramel turtle ones! Also, RM is my bias from BTS so I loved the RM bookmark 🥰 I have old country and I am going to read it this weekend!
I really enjoyed The Silent Companions. It’s pretty slow at the start but then it starts to get really creepy and I kept thinking wtf is this? You will probably enjoy a kindle better then reading on your phone when you have no choice in reading an ebook. I’ll rather have the physical book but when I only have the ebook the kindle makes it 100 percent more enjoyable and a lot less distractions. It’s also easier on my eyes if the physical book has really small print because I can make the text as big as I like. I love when you make these types of videos. I always look forward.
I really enjoyed Hex. Sorry it didn't quite work for you. I was really excited to read Old Country but then wasn't hearing great things about it. Your vlog kind makes me want to read it again lol. I love historical horror books so I need to check out Silent Companions 😂
Not sure if they participate, but ask one of your librarians if your library is part of an interlibrary loan program! Sometimes they can get you a book that's not in your library by borrowing it from a neighboring library or another library in your county/participating area!
Such strange timing cause I just used an ebook coupon to buy The Silent Companions and now I'm slightly worried cause even after researching the book, I didn't realise it was historical 😂😂 oh dearrrrr
OMG so glad you're reading Hex! Thomas Olde Heuvelt is from my country, love to see when his books are read. I personally loved Echo by him even more, but other people don't seem to like it that much haha. It's just very slow horror with weird possesion story. And queer rep, which I love
I honestly think hex is just a great book on the true nature of humanity. I don’t think it’s really supposed to be horror on the witches part… rather the peoples. It’s kind of one of the main points that she doesn’t really do a whole lot lol…. Yet it still ends in tragedy. Because…. People.
I didn’t love Silent Companion. It had some spooky parts, but I also felt a little bored throughout. The weird thing is that even though I didn’t love it, I seem to think about it a lot. Something about it stuck with me.
I have a quick question. Just like you I’m moving and have lots of books to pack. It’s frustrating. I’m thinking I’m of just buying books on digital on my kindle. Would you ever consider going straight digital only?
Now I’m wondering if It follows made nakedness scary or if they are the ones who realized it’s scary bc yes that also freaks me out more then I even thought it would
Thomas Olde heuvelt is a writer from my country Belgium and I'm a big fan. He also wrote after hex the book named echo. I'll think you'll like it. It's pretty creepy atmosphere in the snow on a mountain, really good. Nice vlog again 😍
I DNF The Silent Companion too for the same reasons you did. I don't like historical fiction 😕 and I can't physically reading anymore. I have to have an audiobook to help me read because I'm lazy.
I did enjoy reading Hex but I must admit that the execution was not the best one yet I gave it four stars coz the atmosphere was tremendous. While flipping through pages I felt as if I was there.
Yes definitely when I first started reading on my phone it was very hard very distracting but what I do know it I turn off notifications and I moved my apps so even if I step away from the read for a moment I wouldn’t be tempted but now I only read on my phone and ya I love it but I hope this helps love your content your awesome 🤗🤗🤗🤗
I am so glad you read Hex! However I am curious which ending your book had. Apparently there are 2 different endings depending on the language and publication date of the book. I read in Dutch, so I might have read a different ending than you haha!
Since you had a hard time getting The Silent Companions- if anyone else wants to read it there is a channel called Micah Reads and he reads it chapter by chapter and at the end of the video he has a small discussion about the story so far. He does a very nice job that’s how I did it and Rebecca.
Have you by any chance watched the show From? On Epix?? Kinda reminds me of Hex from your explaination. There is one season so far and season 2 is coming . You will love it
