THANK YOU about the boob thing. In addition, I would like to add to other things. One, to further your point, boobs being a traditionally, extremely feminine traits also suggests that being less traditionally feminine is needed to be taken seriously as a strong and smart character. Two, the fact that removing boobs is used as a way to de-sexualize characters both suggest that flat chested women are less attractive simply for having smaller breasts and that big breasted women are naturally to be seen more as sexual objects than smart, strong individual characters.

Honestly "Don't shade with black" is just overused and lost it's previous sense Now people use it everytime someone uses black to shade, but that criticism was mostly applied to airbrush black shading, which most of the time just looks... I would kind of like to add on the the "Just because a women has big boobs that automatically means that they are sexualized." In my opinion, it's not necessarily the fact that they have large chests that makes them sexualized. The way I see it, it's more so of how those characters are treated. Say for example, a female character with a large chest, and people automatically feel the need to lewd that character, or just have other characters make inapropriate comments about them. A big example of this kind of treatment can be seen in anime. Basically what I am saying is even if a character has a large chest, if the main focus on that character is their personality, or their stories, goals, etc, then that doesn't mean that the character is sexualized. Unfortunately, there is a lot of poor treatment of female characters with that kind of body type that I see in media.

I seriously don't understand the obsession with complete originality. People seem so afraid to be compared to something they're similar to or actively try at all times to break the mold instead of just doing what they do. I'm a jazz musician, so maybe it's the different field, but we all start by imitating and becoming ourselves. And even with that, there are plenty of people who's art exists as exclusively playing other people's music. Why the originality obsession? Just do you, if you're comparable then check that artist out and see how they approach things and hope they do the same with you

16:24 the thing about artists getting hurt by things correlated to their art, is that it's often because they attached themselves, to their art. When you attach your self esteem to your art, you're making that thing your ego, your sense of self. And when someone critiques it they're now critiquing your ego thing and it feels like a personal attack. You have to separate your self from your art and realize that it's a skill you're practicing that you are trying to get good at.

As a highly opinionated woman who has the misfortune of having big tits... thank you for what you said. I frigging hate those steriotypes. My breast size is primarily a factor of my genes. You can reasonably assume based on it that I may suffer from back pain as a result. It has no bearing on my personality or physical strength (unless you want to argue the muscles in my back and abdomen might be a little stronger but I find that factor negligible, your mileage may vary). I unload my own heavy groceries from the car. I completed my university coursework same as anyone else who went. When I draw women in art... I often depict them as larger chested, partly because when I make art the ideal form I'm drawing from is one I aspire to on my own physique which has big boobs and a narrow but well proportioned waist... also I draw a lot of inspiration from world war 2 era pinups... so there's that. But the point is on a aesthetic level it has to do with the idealized form I'm trying to conceptualize. If you interpret it as sexual that's on you... for me it's about confidence and body positivity.

The stereotype that women with the Double D's are weak is inherently false. I mean, they have to carry those things on them all the time. That's gotta build *something* after a while. Also, yeah art is fuckin hard, that's why I love it! Seeing the finished product after investing hours into it feels so accomplishing in it's own right, and even more so when shared with others. Art is one of the few things I genuinely care about and enjoy doing because seeing something I made myself is truly fulfilling to me. My art opinion: Photorealism is boring imo, especially on tiktok. It’s all the same to me, the glossy lips, random objects, fruit, eyes, there isn’t a twist or something. It gets repetitive and boring really fast. I can respect and admire the effort and practice put into it, or the way they draw or shade, but honestly it’s not interesting to me. Now, if someone were make something original and make it look realistic, that’d be cool.

13:26 I agree to an extent cuz I hate it when people "desexualize" characters by just drawing their boobs smaller. But the reason most artists don't like the big booba'd designs is because often the artists who draw them literally only draw female characters with big boobas. And also the boobs are often the focal point of the drawing, so much so that the character has their nips pointed upwards and their chest is thrusted all the way out. It just looks really bad and unrealistic imo. Obviously drawing big booba'd characters is fine, but when the character is being drawn for the sake of sex appeal its usually really obvious from their expressions and pose (i.e bouncing, forearms pressed against the sides of chest)

I guess my "unpopular opinion" is that You don't have to learn how to draw realistically before drawing in a more cartoonish manner. ESPECIALLY if you're drawing as a hobby, because if you don't like realism, doing that can just be exhausting and could make you not motivated to draw for a while I think it's different if you want to be an artist and have a job in that field, then it's much more helpful to know realism as well Also second one that is kinda unpopular but kinda not: If artists aren't asking for criticism, don't give criticism.

Well when, i will be an attention horse and type my own unpopular opinion: 1.You don't need real anatomy to draw stylish things. You can take notes from real anatomy, but you can simply create your own anatomy for your specific style that would work within a specific style. 2. If you can't draw something, or you're bad at drawing something... look for a workaround to turn it into a stylistic choice. I can't draw backgrounds, so i decided to make them very abstract and looking like stained glass. I also am bad at drawing geometrically correct cityscapes, so i draw backgrounds very distorted and wide, like a fish lens.

Unpopular art opinion: Saying that you should *never* reference of off anime is an outdated saying. Sure, you probably shouldn't be referencing off things like Sailor Moon, or Dragon Ball, or One Piece, because, yeah, they aren't anatomically correct, and not just counting the eyes. But when we have anime like Death Note, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, etc; anime with much more realistic styles, with more correct anatomy, I don't see why you can't reference those anime. Not every anime should be used as anatomy reference, but saying that you can't reference any anime *at all* , it's a very closed minded veiw. (This was probably worded like shit.)

I find it somewhat weird how some anime fans make a big deal about it being censored. Obviously if it's essential to the plot then sure you can be mad. But for example in Trails of Cold Steel 3, a jrpg, there's a scene where one of the girls is in the shower. There's no real reason to show it other than for fan service. If that scene were removed for whatever reason the game wouldn't change but some fans would be mad and i don't understand why they would be mad.

Fun fact: me and my best friend would trace those tutorial books and examples, I didn't do it as much as she did it, she's a good artist, I struggle to draw a mouth 😅

I want to add my personal experience onto the tracing point: When I was in around first grade, I copied all of the eeveelutions (not traced, but I did try to make them all look exactly like the photo) and, I mean, now I can draw a pretty convincing canine/feline body. Just don't post it online without credit and you're golden.

I think when people say dont shade with black, they dont mean solid black. it's mainly talking about one of two things, 1) shading with black and turning down the opacity, which often doesnt look as good as when you shade with a color and turn down the opacity, or 2) shading with an airbrush tool with pure black, which just kinda looks bad

1. Boobs are a natural thing women use to feed newborns and toddlers. Saying something like that is sexual is extremely offensive, inappropiate, and a disgusting take while also telling women that they should be ashamed of themselves for having such. I am sick and tired of people sexualizing women, one way or another. 2. Tracing is good for muscle memory and mental memory. As long as you don't copywrite and as long as you eventually try to draw without tracing, it should be okay. 3. I could never really get into anime shows, though I like the style and occasionally implement it into my own art when the piece calls for it. 4. Lastly, another reason why traditional art is fading is because there are alot of traditional artists who say digital art isn't real art, which is insulting and a lie. Due to this, traditional art just looks bad (this isn't always the case but sometimes it is for me. Sometimes it feels like whoever is saying digital isn't real art is just showing off their traditional art in spite...I could be wrong but that's just how I feel)

I hate how people single out anime for no reason I personally don’t see the problem with anime, what is so wrong with it People say it’s weird because of how sexual some of it can be, but if you think about it, shows in other countries are sexual as well I don’t like how people who like anime get labeled as “anime kids” can’t people watch what they want t Watch without being made fun of for literally no reason Nobody makes fun of people for liking the office Nobody makes fun of people for liking football or sports

I hate complimentary colors. I know they're whole thing is that they look good together and stuff but I HATE them Red and Green is the worst color combination. I hate it. Even for Christmas it just looks gross to me. Blue and Orange annoys me. Purple and Green is the only one that I find mostly okay. I just hate most complimentary color combos and it's weird because THEY'RE MENT TO WORK TOGETHER. But instead I like Blue/Yellow and Red/Purple.

Oh my good I thought I was the only one... Another thing I hate (or at least hate using: shape theory, like, I get that it’s supposed to set the personality of the character, but I just don’t like using it
