So in simple terms angular.json file is nothing but a configuration file used to configure the architecture of whole angular application. It's a way to tell CLI that where can you find main file, index.html file, css file and many more files which are used to bootstrap your angular application. If you have multiple internal projects in one application then the location of files that are required to start your angular application is actually mentioned here. CLI reads that information from here and automatically loads all these files so that you can see your results in browser.
