In the Flemish Bellem (Aalter) Ann and Johny Van Den Berghe are currently milking over 120 dairy cows with two DeLaval VMS V310 milking robots. The completely new barn was commissioned in the summer of 2021 and is equipped with the necessary cow comfort.
Ann and Johny started with 40 dairy cows and wanted to grow to 140 dairy cows. Therefore, the barn had to be ready for the future. They therefore opted for, among other things, a lot of automation by means of the VMS V310 and the OptiDuo.
In addition to plenty of space and light in the new barn, Ann and Johny have also thought about other means of improving cow comfort. "We chose a DeLaval robot for feeding because we consider claw health to be very important," says Johny. There are also cow brushes at strategic places in the barn and a DeLaval Cow Cooling system.
Sustainability was high on the wish list when the new barn was installed. That is why the Van Den Berghe family chose many energy-efficient products for the cooling system, such as the plate cooler and the heat recovery system from DeLaval.
