I think the demon at the end gave Grace a chance to spare her husband or let him die, which is maybe why he didn't go right away. Maybe it was like a reward for finally beating the family.
yeah, i think that too, beside the husband can choose to be in her family, use her family name and ditch his family line... too bad Grace dont want him...
Then “poof”, right? That adopted family member would have still participated in the hunt; plus would be legally connected to the family. He or she would have died upon adoption if LeBail didn’t approve of adding family member by adoption. Or the adopted person would have already “passed by having played the game” upon adoption.
She married into the family. Now that they are all gone. Isn’t she Entitled to the family fortune. I would think so. Watching them all blow up was great.
scott french she would have blown up to with the rest of the family but before she did she told Alex she wanted a divorce thus not letting her explode because she’s not part of the family anymore
@@kimjubell2145 I believe she would never blow up cause she never signed for that shit. She made no pact. The divorce part didn't grant her a free pass. She survived cause she won the game. Stay alive until dawn
No you misinterpret him. Daniel loves alex. He knew and saw how alex loved grace, alex probably shared that in the past and he knew that his brother would absolutely be devastated if grace died.. he died believing that alex would go all out just to save grace
One-eyed Owl Daniel should’ve freed Alex (since he was handcuffed) before he poisoned the family during the ritual. Then, maybe Daniel would’ve lived and Alex wouldn’t have betrayed Grace
I was surprised when I found out that this was a completely original film and not based on pre-existing material. When i saw the movie, I thought to myself “This concept seems like the plot of a Stephen King story”
That was the most darkly hilarious thing that I've seen in awhile, and Grace's crazed laughing was fantastic as well. Also the Groom totally deserved it in particular.
Honestly when she started laughing, I felt it and I also laughed at the cinema, my friend thinks I’m psycho for this but who didn’t laugh or at least smile at this iconic scene?
I thought it was very iconic too because it initiates karma; she didn’t want to die, so she survived and they were the ones to pay in the end by being killed off. I think it’s also satisfactory that she’s the only one left too. Especially since she had to survive to not be sacrificed since the card that was picked didn’t accept her into the family but made her become a target for a sacrifice. Then decided to separate her ties with Alex for betraying her and not being fully honest. I think it was also meant to be funny due to being a Comedy-Horror. It was pretty hilarious at some parts!
The ending was what Hit me. Alex wasn't as great as we thought he was. Daniel was a true Hero. And the whole cult shir was actually true, Didn't expect that holy fuck great movie 11/10
Well, Alex did think Grace killed Daniel. Also, Alex saw Grace killing his mother. And he knew Grace wouldn't be with him after the game. So if your whole family will die because of a girl you loved, will you still let her live?
Alex's love for Grace was a selfish one. He admittedly married her and exposed her to the game because he didn't want her to leave. And then he completely betrayed her at the end when he realized that there was no way she was going to stay with him.
It's funny because at some point around halfway in the movie they talk about another family and the dialogue goes like this: - Do you realize that if she lives till dawn, that we're all gonna die? - You all remember what happened to the Van Horns, right? - Um... didn't they just die in a house fire? - Yeah, that's what the press told you, but they... - You don't wanna know how they really died. Trust me.
Omg yeess and their house burned too! Damn maybe that's how they all die explode then the house burns so nothing of their wealth will last because their deal with satan is done
@@vicentecastillo8352 My guess is that all of the families who made a deal with Mr. Le Bail had their own traditions that they had to abide by, but the death to the entire family part stays the same for each family. The Le Domas family had the magic card box because they built their wealth off of game development.
I love all their different reactions, all these different ways of trying to get out of the situation and how much none of them work. Helene: Zealotry. Fitch: Resignation. Charity: Begging.(The woman named Charity begs. Ha! Just caught that.) Emilie: Terror. Tony: Defiance. Alex: Denial. Grace: Oink.
Louisiana Boy imagine how awesome it would be if, after Grace killed Becky, her and Alex teamed up and took down the rest of the family before dawn. Maybe even have Alex kill Charity as payback for killing Daniel
You gotta admire Grace's resilience. She's been through a lot. She grew up in foster care. She married into a very f-ed up family. She was betrayed by the very man she loved, and she was nearly sacrificed on her wedding night. And she came through it all with flying colors. That tells you that she is a force to be reckoned with. #TeamGrace 🚩
I think I get Alex not dying until Grace took off the ring. Iirc there was a throwaway line about how Alex was kept from the family by Grace (like she's his anchor). So when her ties with Alex were cut, Alex was dragged back into the curse through his familial ties.
supahstrike77 you’re exactly right. By her winning the game, the couple lives. The only reason he died was because she essentially divorced him which then made him part of the hunting group separating his ties to her and that’s why he died. He got what he deserved tho.
Dom510 ohh so that was the reason, i was honestly confused why he even tried reasoning with grace when he could’ve died as well since he was part of the family
In a sense she blew him up since it's most likely that he would have been saved if she forgave him, but by claiming that he was as bad as the others she sealed his fate.
everyone on the comments feeling like sociopaths coz they laughed at the children dying and at little georgie getting beat up by grace but like... that’s the point, grace was treated unfairly and because we see from her perspective, we identify with her struggles and it’s obvious that we want revenge as well so all the deaths on that family r meant to feel satisfactory smh u ain’t no sociopath if anything you’re an *empath*
Fun Fact: In the original draft of the script, Grace died. The film originally ended with Alex stabbing Grace and successfully killing her. But Radiosilence thought that ending was too dark and felt they were cheating the audience members that were rooting for Grace to survive. So they insisted that they write an alternate ending that they could shoot incase their original one didn’t work. When the writers wrote a 12 page alternate ending with the family blowing up and Grace surviving, Radiosilence loved it so much that they said, “This should be the actual ending of the movie”. Thus, we got one of the most satisfying endings ever
Guys I want you all to know. . . -That the actor of Daniel *Adam Brody* starred in Jennifer's body -He was a satanic rock star who sacrificed and killed Jennifer for fame and wealth -Ironic how things changed when he's actually the good guy from a *satanic family* in this film -Bonus: Daniel's wife looks like Megan Fox (Jennifer) -And she's the one that killed him. 1:04 *By the way, Samara Weaving still looked like a goddess despite the bloodbath*
da-bohmb da-bohmb It was a cold and unloving marriage. She married him for his money and not for love. It appears he cared for her at the beginning (perhaps she cared a little too) but that quickly burned down.
@@imboredashell8954 But it clearly implied they loved each other. She even felt bad that his family simply thought she wanted their fortune, and he said so himself to his mother that she changed his life, morally speaking, unclutching him from the satanic practices.
I actually felt so bad for grace at the end when she was screaming and holding the knife. She was shaking and you could tell in her voice how much she was through but I’m glad that she lived
I still bad for her at the end. Throughout her whole life, she wanted a family. Since her family tried to kill her, her husband betrayed her, and they all died, she’s now alone and has nobody. At the end, I think they, at least, should’ve had her smiling or show some sort of emotion that she was relieved to be alive
One neat thing I noticed is right up to the point when she takes the ring off and throws it at him in the background you can hear the record countdown from ten and it reaches one when she pulls it off and throws it at him.
It's heavily implied that Le Bail rejected Grace and let her walk away unscathed by his curse because she married for love and not for money, unlike Charity and Fitch, who had no problems selling their souls for wealth while Grace wanted nothing more than a family.
@@kyleroberts1276 that to but like what the orginal poster said, i believe she got the hide and seek card bc she married for love & would not fit exaclty into the family like Charity & Fitch
Lou Vre I hate that Alex betrayed Grace. It would’ve been awesome if, after Grace killed Becky, her and Alex would team up to take down the rest of the family before dawn. Maybe even have Alex kill Charity as payback for killing Daniel
@@superjackster0165 Then it would be more cheesy, at least this ending is kinda original. And I think Alex betrayed Grace because when he saw Daniel and his mother dead, he thought that it was all Grace's fault so he changed his mind and wanted to kill her because of it.
Yağızhan Helvacı Daniel’s death had nothing to do with him betraying her. After she killed Becky, he had asked her if she would still be with him after all of this. She didn’t answer and he knew she meant No. That’s when he snapped
I really thought that it was lebail well it was him but in some way that he comes out holding a demonic shotgun blasting them out and saying the lady wins the game
Ghost of Mr. Le Bail: “Madame, allow me to take care of that for you” (snaps his fingers like Thanos), “And I believe there’s your divorce, very well played Madame. Best of luck to you”
See, lemme try to make you understand. After, all the in laws died she, and her husband we're like good, and the devil wouldn't take them because he is not an in law to her. So, after she wanted a divorce that means she's not his wife anymore, so that makes him to get taken by the devil!!!
Richard Sanchez she had the option. If you listen to the music, when the kids start singing “10,9,8....” and so on, when it hits 1, she throws the ring at him and explodes. Like the dude gave her 10 seconds to make the decision.
it's the opposite: Alex lived as long as he did because she won. He was still married to the winner, but as soon as she took the ring off and asked for the divorce, the devil was like "okay bye dude" and he popped. since she wont the game of hide and seek, she would have lived even if she didnt ask for the divorce (although why the hell would she stay married to someone that just tried to kill her???)
i thought we had someone who had turned against the family and gave evil granny a shotgun blast to the body. then the others went and i thought oh yeah, here we go. brilliant ending.
I realized something since she never signed any divorce papers she’s technically a widow, which means since his whole family’s dead she inherit everything
Le Bail's replies: To Helene: "I don't do 'Second Chances". To Fitch: "Damn straight." To Charity: "No backsies." To Emilie and her sons: "Children, please." To Tony: "You still failed." To Alex: "You heard the lady." To Grace: "Respect."
The terrifying thing about this movie for me isn’t the fact that she’s in danger to did it the fact that every single one of them has a possibility to going to hell. Fuck that if i were her i’d become a saint simply to not go to hell for all eternity.
What really impresses me is that there was very little CGI used in this scene. They used practical effects for the explosions and thanks to the use of green screen and clever editing, made it look seamless. The only CGI used with the deaths was to make the explosions look more powerful than they actually were. It was used as a tool and not as an alternative.
LeBail never said they had to win, just play. The aunt tried to kill Grace after the game ended. LeBail was like, "Okay, bitch... Boom!" Not even the devil likes a cheater.
She was great in this movie and Guns Akimbo. Both movies are rare examples of a strong female character in a modern movie being portrayed correctly. I guess she’s a good luck charm for that
I love how derpy Emilie is in the movie and I kinda felt some sort of sadness seeing her explode with her screaming in fear and all but I mean she influenced her children into worshipping satan so.....
Personally I thought they died was because they weren't good sports. If they had excepted her into the family after she won, instead the gma tried to kill her and the rest were going too. The sun had already come up so they had lost. But they had poor sportsman like conduct... So they exploded. Lol
daniel's death scene hurt so much...everyone was willing to severely kill or injure everyone else except him...he gave them a laxative instead of a severe poison ... he headbutted her instead of shooting a body party...in the end he was still the most innocent
This was so satisfying. I figured they would just have the ritual and its consequences be made up but the family would still try to kill her. When the sun came up and they started blowing up, I was so happy something this balls to the wall insane and creative was made.
I love how after the aunt dies the music just starts playing to let the characters and the audience know that oh well I guess Le Bail is real. Though the exploding does that too but I just love how the song is used against them in the end.
