Ready-to-Learn Schools (R2L) is a universal support program for all Yukon students.
It is based on the Neurosequential Model in Education (NME), which was developed by Dr. Bruce Perry, a renowned psychiatrist and neuroscientist.
It views relationships between staff and students as critical to all learning. Teachers and other staff are taught about the underlying brain processes that influence human functioning and behaviour.
R2L has been fully implemented at Takhini Elementary, Selkirk Elementary and Nelnah Bessie John School. In 2022-23 it is being introduced at Jack Hulland Elementary, Grey Mountain Elementary, and St. Elias Community School.
It will be phased into all Yukon schools over the next three years.
