Today we begin the MLB The Show 24 Franchise with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards are far from being one of the weakest teams in baseball, but they do have one of the most uncertain future. This is an experienced team and one of the oldest in the MLB. Every starting pitcher is at least 32 years old. The best two position players have over 10 years experience. The Cardinals will have to rebuild this organization regardless of their success in the near future. I'm excited to work on restoring this franchise to a championship standard that they have not seen in the last decade.

If you don't alter the secondary positions when you change their primary position, it won't change FYI. Once you've done it thought, its too late

@@MrHurriicaneLPif you go a full cycle around the position options I’ve found it resets everything as well tho lol. So know which direction the position you’re switching your player to is

As a rule of thumb, 1 WAR equates to about $8 million in value. So getting a guy like Donovan for 10 mil a year when he just had a 7 WAR season is such a steal.

@@KingKrakenSports Hes still in arbitration so his price was never gonna be high. Soto almost won 2 MVPs and was only making around 15 mil on the Nats.

No. You CANNOT DH Donavon with that fielding. DH Gorman and put Donovan at 2nd if need be.

regarding the scherzer retirement. The show this year will give the retiring players a team badge their known playing for instead of just saying free agent like previous games. Also DH Gorman not Donovan

Dont build an entire team on one-year flyers, but a few are necessary for a great team. The Braves got a ring with an entire outfield of one-year guys. Get some guys on one-year deals in the bullpen, its such a volatile position to lock up long term contracts.

You aren't the only one experiencing a lack of trades! They have been broken in franchise mode since the game came out - once you exit your franchise the CPU won't trade until the offseason or unless you make a trade yourself

Also, not sure if I’m trippin. At the end of the video when you showed the transactions page. It showed you didn’t offer a contract to Pitcher Steve Castilla. Idk if he’s sitting in Free Agency by accident or got picked up by someone.

I have Rolando McQueen & Dylan Cease in my Cardinals Franchise too.😄 You should trade for Jordan Lawlar & make his secondary positions 3rd & 2nd base. His upside is much higher than Winn's. That could be a major part of your infield in the future that will also allow you to move Gorman to DH.

If you only change the primary position you dont lose the developer set secondarys so if you would have only changed Walkers primary he would have kept all his secondary positionz.

Hey Cane, fun fact for the future. If a player has secondary positions that aren’t available in the menu, don’t adjust the secondary position and it’ll keep everything available as their secondaries. Even though it’s “blank” in the menu, it keeps the availability

8:10 Something I love with retirements this year is that players will retire with their original team. I had a rockies franchise and Nolan Arenado retired with us instead of STL and made the HOF

Arenado probably falls off. But he could be a trade piece. Pitching looks great. Definitely need some 3B and SS prospects in the draft.

So you didnt like Ranger Suarez (30 years old) for 4 years for less than $9M/year because “4 years is a high commitment for a 30 year old pitcher” but you liked Nestor Cortes (31 years old) for $11.5M/year? How does that make sense? The K rates are hardly different and they had very similar years overall last season. Plus you could have gotten Ranger away from another NL contender. Really disappointing move EDIT: and they got Gallen??? Total gaffe 2nd EDIT: Cease makes up for Gallen

4 years wasn't ideal, but I still liked Suarez. I just felt Cortes was the better player, and the Yankees would be easier to beat than the Phillies in that battle.

Ranger always remains one of the best value pitchers in franchise through to around 34-35 years old. I signed him when he hit free agency in a few rebuilds, and he's so reliable and shows up in the playoffs. The game underrates his overall, and I think his reality this season with the Phillies shows that. He's been the best pitcher in baseball through June 9th.

Scott is pretty much battling Winn for a starting spot.. if Winn has a better spring he starts at Short and Edman moves to CF with Scott being the 4th OF! Like the moves! Kinda glad the Tucker move didn’t work out cause pitching down the stretch is going to be so much more important

I like the moves. Arenado has 2 months at best to show me something. Maybe 3rd baseman is a key need, Idk the roster well enough yet, just got into the series a few weeks ago so i also dont have an opinion on specifically which prospects look ready for the bigs. Will be interesting to see how this new season goes and your next first yr player draft

Can I ask a question. I like doing the gm part of the game. I can hit and pitch ok but at 64 with arthritis I would rather the game field for me. Where do I set that option?

Auto fielding is an option. Go to Gameplay settings > R2 for Decisions > Auto fielding and auto throwing are options

Tip: When changing Player's Position, if the Secondary position is blank, it generally means its custom. Like Donavon playing all positions. You can change his primary position and if the secondary position stays blank, it will automatically adjust. What you have to careful of is when you switch position, it autofill's the secondary position and it doesn't include his original position. For Walker and Edman, if you would have left the secondary position blank, they would have retained all of the them and it would have automatically adjusted their former position into their secondary.

Pretty sure since you didnt tender those contracts youre losing those prospects to FA. May want to double check your roster. It doesnt auto sign a prospect if you dont offer one.

Bizarre question for everyone, but how do you see the (+ or -) for player’s development? The only time I see it is when I’m checking lineups before a game. Any ideas? As always Cane, great video and continue to love seeing the new content!!

Hope that outfield plays well as your lineup isn’t very scary unless a rookie breaks out ie Aaron Don from the Oakland series and he was my favorite player of that series..excellent starting pitching rotation!

The contracts in this game are horrendous! I did a RTTS where I was a two-way player and basically didn’t let up any runs and hit .600 with record breaking home run seasons and was only given offers to play in AA when I hit free agency

I would do 8yrs with a player option on Tucker. He will regress sooner than you think plus he already regressed but he is the guy I would target. The real tucker hits lefties better than righties.

i know it's extremely early.......but i hope next year you replace this style of a normal franchise and instead make your main franchise a 0 overall draft rebuild. would speed seasons up and we wont see playoffs by year 2
