Hi Luke, I'm a fairly new subscriber and have been going back watching all your videos. Huge fan of the detail and thought you put into your videos, the editing is spot on! I am a subscriber to a hand full of people from the "Gauntlet" and a few other gear review channels and you are definitely one of the better channels out there. You can really tell you have a passion and love what you do. Keep the videos coming.

I was out in the woods hiking and camping alone when it just started to done pore. It was like that for a good 2 maybe 3 hours, then it stopped, that birds came out chirping and a huge rainbow shot right across the sky! And I will never forget that one moment. Also, you inspired me to do everything that I do today, so thank you and keep up the good work.

Great vid! I hope you keep adding to this series! I think I'd like to pick Lincoln's brain whilst camping, or maybe even current world leaders. I also game sparingly (for similar reasons) but I think the new FF7 might be a "game changer". I'm debating if I'm going to upgrade to the PS4 or Xbox One soon. Loved the way you made this vid, you ever think about doing one of those survivor shows like "Alone"?

My last overnight adventure, was a hike along the east coast of ireland between Wicklow and greystones. I went with a big group of my friends and we stayed up all night round our campfire on the beach until the sun rose. It was awesome.

Luke I never knew that you was in a wreck similar to mine. Around January of this year me and 4 other friends was driving and the steering locked up and the brakes went out. And there was a sharp turn right and we went straight off the cliff, the police officers said we went over 100ft in the air to where we landed we went inbetween every tree on the way down, I suffered the worst injury I fractured both bones at the end of my elbow. I will never forget that feeling of weightlessness. I also live in nc in the burke county area. I wish I could post pictures of the place we went off in this comment section. Thank you for all the amazing content -Wade

This last weekend I went to my bestfriends graduation party. We camped out about a mile away from his house at this natural pond. Since I'm heavy into survival and bushcraft, I slept under a tarp, and was the one to get the fire started since they couldn't figure it out. It was a lot of fun and in the morning I caught a small fish from the pond and had breakfast. It was really fun.

I gotta say that thought has been running thru My mind too. Luke’s work should be streaming on a network on RU-vidTV. Absolutely. But I also realize that Luke values His freedom to do things the way He wants to do them. He will never be owned. Maybe that’s why He’s not on TV already.

I'd love to camp with someone called Luke from The Outdoor Gear Review, perhaps you know him? He's such a selfless gentleman, amazes people with campfire stories and has enough wisdom that knows no bounds. He's un-excelled in fathering, has the best morals of most people alive today and enjoys life outdoors the way it should be.

My entire family loves camping, and when we can't make it out to the woods for the weekend, my daughter gets a kick out of watching you build "forts." We'll watch one of your adventures and then she'll run off to get a blanket and pillow to try building your shelter in our living room. Already can't wait for the next adventure!

Great video Luke. Loved the scenes. To keep it short. Knife, Buck Sheath Knife. Camp with. My Father Swiss Volcano Stove. You can burn wood in it, it does work. It also works with hot Coals, Solid Fuel Tablets and a Trangia Burner. (Yes I have one.) A hint when using wood in it, use a twig to lift the cup just a bit and the wood will burn better. 90°F is hot,and I live in Southern Florida.

How are you doing Luke? First time posting by the way. I have been watching your videos for a while now. I have previous military experience, and I can tell the professionalism and knowledge presented on each video. You inspire many of us to go and experience the outdoors with our spouses and/or by our self. My wife actually was the one introducing your videos. She also likes hiking. Keep doing what you're doing Luke!!!. I like what you're bringing on all your videos. In other note: I also just had a spinal-column surgery and just waiting for recovery to begging hiking again around the U.S. and others countries as well. You take care now. Out. Great video. I think if I could camp with anyone it would be Les Stroud. I know he's not a great person in history. But, he has a ton of outdoor knowledge and even though I do my own thing when I'm outdoors. I always love to learn other peoples ways of doing things. That's also what I like about your videos. You do a lot of different things. Some I add to my own tricks and some not so much, lol. Haha I also, got the Spyderco Bushcraft UK. But, didn't use it because of how much it cost. Right now, I use the Mora Bushcraft for small tasks. The Mora/LMF in stainless steel for food prep and some fishing. And, Ontario Rat 7, just in case the others break or for some light batoning for a small personal fire (I mostly cook with an alcohol stove though). The reason I went with the Rat 7 over a small axe is because, I was raised with "you have to have an axe with you whenever you go into the woods", so it kind of lost its appeal for now.

Hi, Luke. I always enjoy watching your videos. I got a pair of Vasque Juxt shoes, and I haven't taken them out hiking but I really like them so far. I call them my "retirement shoes". If I work hard, I should be able to retire in about 3 years. I'm looking forward to having time to go hiking, fishing, camping, target shooting, hunting, and I might even try kayaking. My retirement plans are to spend the summers in Alaska, and have a home somewhere in the South (been looking at Kentucky & Tennessee mostly) for the rest of the year. Speaking of E3, breakout your Pipboy - Fallout 4 is coming in November 2015! And the person that I would want to camp out with the most would probably be my great-great grandfather JW. In Texas , JW held off a group of Kiowas Indians with a muzzle-loader so that his sons could escape. JW survived the attack and lived into his 80's. JW definitely had guts. Keep up the good work!

Last adventure was a quick overnight with my 17-year-old daughter. Pretty rugged trail. Got our water from the lake the trail was next to. Used water purification tablets and put a piece of bandana across the mouth of my water bottle to filter out the floaties. Made me realize I'm WAY out of shape. :)

I have the same SAS Basha, and it is awesome :) It offers lots of configurations and options - can be used as a carryweight, or a hammock. It has lots of metal rings as attachment points and can be folded in half. I use it as a tarp for my hammock, but pitched it sideways diagonally. It is not very lightweight, but what military thing is? :) The only downside with it is that it is small. You have to pitch it really low to get quality protection. Especially if you have rain with side wind.

Great video. Looks like the kind of camping we do up here. You've got yourself a beautiful piece of land there. My last adventure was my knee destruction trip, so my next one will be September. I have to get over the fear. I'd camp with my grandpa, as cliche as that is, because I never got to. Being a Michigan guy, my go to knife is always a Bark River. I can beat the hell out of it and send it for a free spa treatment a anytime. Pricey but well worth it. Thanks again for doing what you do.

I remember you talking about movies, and you once said you liked silver bullet, one of my favourites. I just wondered if you have ever heard dogman encounters radio on RU-vid ? They have shows every Friday where the guy has a witness call in and tell of his dogman (werewolf) sighting. Not sure if you had an interest in werewolves, or just liked the movie. But if I ever listened to any of those episodes while out camping, that would sure keep me up all night lol. Thanks for the great video Luke, take care.

My most recent outdoor adventure, I spent a week hiking/backpacking through Kluane National Park with a friend, it was an amazing time, we didn't use any any tent or hammock, but we did bring them along just in case. haha, that's pretty funny, I never drink pop when i'm home, but when I go on camping trips I always take some bottles of pepsi with me. lol, I'm just going along commenting on what your talking about as its going, I do watch alot of tv, But I never miss it on outdoor adventures, I do record alot of shows while im away lol, I'd love to be there camping with you and hitler, LOL. I thought of wire, but got a light chain. Based on tripod/chain. Two 'S hooks. There's a fire build challenge done on youtube.. like several fires/starter methods. I saw a three pole fire once. Three sawed off spikes support a grill with fire under it. Fatwood stick fire. A counselor taught us craft. All he had was a bedroll plastic and string. He had an axe, knife, and told us about fishing. Then, he cooked a rabbit for the five of us. He said, you guys have all the gear. hah.

My gut response to who'd I love to go camping with was Lewis and/or Clarke. They were chosen or volunteered to scope out what was thought to be savage land and savage peoples and their survival skills must have been top notch. But my second thought after contemplation was any one of my grandfathers/great grandfathers because of their excellent Boy/Eagle scout recognition that I've seen that lead them into their military careers and civilian careers after serving.

I like your attitude, you don't show off and try to look like John Garrisson ( Jeremiah Johnson). Must of the bushcraft guys do. Good video thanks.

The question you had on facebook about Todd Standing; I think he was referring to Les Stroud aka Survivorman. He's recently made a couple of series of documentary's about bigfoot and he had Todd Standing with him on a few of his adventures. Lots of people don't like Todd Standing and his belief in bigfoot. Les Stroud is a survival expert, you must have heard of him and/or watched Survivorman?

Great video Luke. Out of interest have you altered the colour settings on your camcorder or used some form of tint?

The one person I'd want to go camping with for one day and night would be Henry David Thoreau! His perspective on life was just fascinating.

The historical person I'd go camping with would be Henry David Thoreau. I read his book "Walden" as a young man and that greatly influenced me to spend more time in nature and to enjoy a simple life.

Hey Luke, In regards to your question in regards to who I would go camping with from History, that is a really hard one because I am like you. I am a history buff too and I love anything that has to do with History. If I have to choose someone from history to go camping with, it is a tie between two people. The first one is Wyatt Earp. The reason for that is because he was a family man that cared very much about his family. He was also fearless and believed in the law. Plus, to ride and fight along side with some like Doc Holiday is pretty awesome. The other person that I would like to go camping with one day is with Jay Moriarty. The reason for this is because he was full of energy, willing to take risks, and had fun. Plus, he also cared about his family again and was eager to learn. Going camping to me is where we can learn new things and enjoy life. That is what both Wyatt and Jay did.
