Throp respectfully I don't know you personally but I love the energy between you and your guest Felesia I think both of you should go on a date and see where it goes as I think you both compliment each other just saying . Respect always me bredda.🇯🇲
The dating part of this Podcast was an eye opener. It gave me an insight into the mind of a woman who knew exactly what she was about, and how misguided I was about these kinds of strength women must have to stay grounded & above the fray. With that said, asset protection, by either side, is not such a bad thing. I have a new appreciation for my wife. 😊
I love her. She's very insightful, clear about who she is with out saying who she is but states her standards. She's intellectually older than her chronology age. I agree with her to to not date below your income. It causes jealousy from the lower income person.
She is right about the right mindset as a woman. We see it around us where many women become desperate. Nothing is wrong with being alone whether a male or female. And it’s not extreme. Love yourself and while being open to love do not compromise values
Being alone is not our natural state. We did not evolve as solitary beings. Humans are not wired that way, regardless of whatever opinions you may have to the contrary. Being alone is not good for overall mental health and there are plenty of clinical studies to support that thesis. Evolution prioritizes the survival of a species. That is why we are wired to seek out a companion and reproduce our DNA. Societies that have gone against this primal rule are now in danger of extinction because of rapid population decline. For example, if current demographic trends continue, countries like South Korea and Japan will disappear from existence.
@@islanddweller4263 We ALL don’t need to REPRODUCE and we way too many people in the world as it is. Just look at the amount of poor people we have in Jamaica. The government can’t and the private sectors can’t create enough businesses for every citizen. While we do need human relationships it doesn’t have to be of a sexual nature or a love interest. Having family and platonic relationships is ok as well, and contrary to popular belief ALL men and women don’t want to be married or have children.
Saying that one mustn't date anyone lower than their tax bracket doesn't mean that she wants someone who earns more than her. It seems to me, she is looking for her equal. I totally support that as a good place to start.
This lady is very mature. I had jump to a conclusion by the intro clip, without listening fully. I listen fully and agree to a certain point. On the point of money, I kinda disagree.
Disagree. Imagine if all men from generations back said the same. Most of us wouldn’t be here today! Just an example of the times we are in unfortunately
@@irGuilty If more people from generations back were like her, most of us would be here today as hard-working individuals, NOT looking to “marry up”. My interpretation is that she is protecting what she has earned for herself. I’ve worked hard and don’t care for someone who is looking to help themselves to what I have achieved. They need to be my equal.
@@lamindyso does only apply to women? Because my point is that for generations men have been dating below their tax bracket and even today. You see it as her protecting herself, which you might be right, but it also *can* come across as superficial. Divorce rates are at a all-time high and with this ‘tax-bracket’ rule people apply, I can see why!
I've known people who spent 40 plus years with a partner they are unhappy with. They suffer from depression from the toxic marriage but can't leave due to finances. It's so sad to see how these relationships manifest into medical illnesses.
She is so right about dating too. I hope you guys get that dating project off the ground. As a woman in her 50's I can tell you I allowed too many toxic men in my life (which takes a while to find out quite often), and I have no regrets about elevating my standards, only regrets about lowering my standards and re-traumatizing myself. So, better to have higher than lower standards and be safe and mentally healthier.
Loved this interview. Felicia is me and I am her. I feel you Throp on being more intentional and not needing as much time to know whether something is good for you or not. Felicia- i'm following your channel. Definitely looking to own in Reading/ Bogue area.
I’m an expat living in Hopewell This video is overdo. From both the development/real estate and dating perspectives. Kudos to you both for taking on the more serious topics that is relevant to the times we live in and tackling subjects openly and honestly.
I love this interview on the dating. I have a daughter who is 41 and yes she would like to be married but will not lower her standards. Please young lady do not lower your standards. Unfortunately many men especially black men dont thrive well with women who earns more. Make sure there's compatibility and of HIQ.
Yup, single women keep other women single. If the girls keeps her ideals she'll be 41 and single just like your daughter. And that's great as long as you always live in the 20% of the world that 1st world and don't lose your job. You'll see just how important a man is at that point. Single women pay 100% of everything and no protection from a man.
@UrbanGuitarLegend Have you seen the rate of deaths of both single and married women by men? What protection did they get from those men? There is no law that people have to be married or be with a man and nobody ever die from lack of sex many women are dead today because they think that they had to have a man to have sex with
Amazing conversation you guys are having, your guest are well informed and shared lots of important info. Will be reaching out to you are your guest in the near future my wife and I planning a trip to Jamaica this year with the intention to look at some Real Estate, I hope to convince her for us to retire there when that time comes.
Very resourceful information. A call center for small business owner is necessary as she describe for that clustering part of the Bay. I can see her moving up in her career very fast. Her mother must be a good teacher. Thanks for the interview. I learned a lot. keep up the good work.
Best quote, "I might rob you!" This is a real woman with a clear future. And this is a generational issue. Stability, security and intelligence is key. STRONG interview! Much, much more room/depth to expand on this!
Questions why have we adopted this idea about buying a housing is the only way to own a house, for people who live in the tropical regions. Why can't you buy land and slowly build? We need to be more versatile in thinking about these matters. These big mortgages reduce your flexibility and you are at the mercy of banks or the lender and your jobs. Buying a reasonable piece of land pay it off and build step by step. My view of things anyway. Great discussion.
Good day Throp, just tuning in and listening to the conversation and from what I’ve heard so far, the only input I can give from what I have heard when I tuned in is that Rome or nowhere else was built in a day it takes time for everything to grow or get anywhere, no matter what you are into or doing, there is no overnight pot of gold, I worked on one job for 34 years before I was able to be able to sit back and receive my accomplishment’s so that I don’t have to go to work to be able to get paid without having to do anything.👍🏽
Love your channel Throp. Another informative interview. Felicia did a nice job on your studio. As to the dating someone not lower than your tax bracket, that could be limiting yourself. I am sure Felicia would date a man in a higher tax bracket. If she believes she is quality enough and worthy to date a man above her tax bracket, imagine what a missed opportunity for a love connection with a "Felicia" if said man refuses to date someone below his tax bracket.
I just finished watching this show. It was so insightful. Ms. Headley is the real deal. Throp, do I need to become the Jamaican Match Maker? I think you all should explore dating and continuing to be friends if it does not work out. I suspect you are both mature enough to take on that mission.
Very good interview with interesting topics being explored and addressed. I think an answer to addressing single mothers and women with low income would be if the housing authorities implemented the Heroes Program like what we have here in the US and other Caribbean countries. To qualify your profession would be considered “blue collar “ such as Nurses, Teacher, Paramedics, Firefighters, Cops, Sanitation Workers etc.
The health care issue is huge!!! And no matter how you research it once the person gets sick - problems arises. The health system is lousy in Jamaica - not to bash the home but it's a fact. The second issue is people and how they relate to an older person. Jamaica has to step up the game in this area.
@@MarshasJourney Why not private healthcare for cancer? Healthcare is a service that someone has to pay for like any other service. Admittedly, cancer like many other treatments in healthcare can be expensive. Public healthcare in most countries including US and Jamaica is problematic due to long wait times, etc.
This is one of the most realist videos I have seen on your platform, as it identifies the situation with AI coming to us all. Whilst AI is good if used for good, it has for some some been portraying a fantasy lifestyle, and we get caught up in it. It's going to take us getting back to our humanness and love of nature to overcome the wickedness fast approaching. I know we have enough love for humanity to get through it. Thank you for this show, this lady is great and I will seek to use her services as she's real. Thank you.
Enjoyed this episode! Learned a lot. The end portion discussing dating was interesting. Wish you both luck on finding partnership. When you described what you’re looking for Winthrope, you sounded like a perfect match for me.
Thank you Throp this is a very educational podcast on every level. Yes indeed IG is fake and your guess is outstanding well spoken and very informative. I love Jamaica and its my home away from home . Very important and I must say she is so right about health care I know people that moved to Jamaica and they are moving back because they are getting older and they are moving back to the States not because of cancer or a specific surgery just general health care for themselves . I thought about that for myself to be honest . Job well done!!!
A good topic to have on this channel is a discussion of Modern Monetary Theory (MMT). Think of technology as installing hot water in the house so you no longer have to go the river, community tap, or even boil water to take a comfortable bath.
As a Jamaican Canadian abroad, this is a legacy conversation many of us needed, as a diasporic starting place for how to restoratively go back home and make a life .🟩🟨🟥
A candid conversation quite insightful for the “young 30ties year old”. Hopefully this was able to shuffle some priorities or trigger some insight. But Thorp, I think she is a good catch. I see so many sparks flying however Jamaican girls do not openly makes the first moves. You need to pursue.
Throp... your next date is sitting in the room with you. You both have too much in common. Give it a try. You will never know! I am feeling it! Happy dating!
As a licensed real estate agent and mental health professional in NYS, it has been increasingly difficult to navigate the dating market. This phenomenon is true for various reasons, however the one thing that remains true is people should never settle. Women especially should not settle, as we are more vulnerable to abuse. I’m 40 years old and will not yield to society pressures, as they often do not serve women. We should spend more time living and enjoying this human experience, as it is finite.
36:53 Had a really good laugh by this point on the progress of AI and its threat to our jobs. Sometimes, I think it's blown a little bit out of proportion.
Throp, I get the feeling that you 2 were getting on fine until she brought up the 50/50 objection. I'm hoping it didn't come across the way she meant. At her age I feel to find the right partner she needs to work 50/50 with a man to build a life. It's different for me me as a over 55 woman having already made a career etc. The man I would date would be similar to myself but likely older, divorced or widowed. Is she looking in this pool too? I get the feeling she'll be struggling to find a partner but falling in love may yet change her mindset. That's why it's difficult for people from the diaspora to find suitable local partners. I feel the gap in mindset is quite wide.
Throp I have curiosity, I migrated to the USA as age 16 and it has almost been 15 years and I still haven’t grown accustomed to this place I’m curious to how you have adapted to life in Jamaica, even with dating
I'm wondering if anyone's bringing in tiny homes and/or foldable homes to rent. I'm also wondering if these kind of homes could withstand the tropical elements. Most Jamaican architecture is cement and boxable/foldable homes seem to use less sturdy materials.
Once again, GREAT Show. Coming from di West I have gleaned a lot info from your Channel. FYI, there is no such thing as the Jamaican Dream in comparable to the American. The closest ting woulda be to get a Visa and go a foreign. As a UWI graduate, that was my DREAM .
How did thar turn out? If you became part of the brain drain would you consider being a returning resident later in life? I have several friends who have done that and have inspired me to join them
@@lorraineesnes8500not turn out great for everyone don’t let them fool you. Not saying it did not turn out good for many. Many did things in farin that they would have never done back humble. Humility
@@lorraineesnes8500 how can you refer to it as "brain drain" if the economy can not generate enough jobs for graduates. Imagine if very few tertiary level graduates migrated, we would be experiencing a so-called "Brain Saturation" by having too many overqualified candidates in the job market. Bare in mind the importance of remittances to the economy. Who is sending home all dis yah Forex? Check with STATIN to confirm. Who is buying up most of the real estates especially in the Corporate Area? The Diaspora's contribution is significant to the Jamaican economy. Face this fact, North America is an extension of Jamaica's job market. THIS IS NOT DEBATABLE.
How about putting God first and trust HIM in the process.God is in total control and our plans are meaningless. Tomorrow is not promised to any of us. I thank God I trusted Him with my Boaz of 30 years and still trusting and believing in HIM.
Sadly women like this don’t have that mindset materially gained and status is more important to them they ain’t thinking about their souls are death and where they will end up after death.
My hope has been for several years now to retire in Negril from Long Island. Tonight's discussion saddened me that Negril might not be affordable. Perhaps I will work in Negril but live on the outskirts.
@lioness3030 I have spent the last 35+ years with friends who I consider family in Jamaica. It feels like my 2nd home. There are many challenges and adjustments that I'd have to manage living there but I have been researching it for years. I have to do more in the way of choosing which location would be best there.
I wish invenstors would make more affordable housing in Jamaica but I know they are in business to make money. The Hotel development called Harmony Clove in Trelawny will have housing but not sure of the prices. The Pinnacle in Montego Bay will look like South Beach Florida, with 3 large high rise, they have a 5 year plan and its $500K and up and its going to be a private community.
Watching from Colorado. Fascinating segment regarding Jamaican real estate and the current dating scene. As someone happily married for over 26 years, relationships involve real people with flaws and shortcomings, so yes, everyone will need to compromise. The Disney and romanticized aspects of relationships are Westernized propaganda and mythical at best. Once the courting and honeymoon period elapsed, then the real work starts.
This, podcast, and this lady she is so smart and articulate. Listen to everything however, the part about relationships is you don’t know what you don’t know. For majority of people more so woman, the fulfillment of being a woman is having kids and having a family and in the western world has tricked us to go after money and career and fulfillment besides creating life. Memories with a family and hitting the wall doesn’t apply to men when it comes to the ((sexual marketplace)) for a lack of a better word, that’s what it actually is so the desire of men and the desire of women are totally opposite. Women are on a time clock with their value in their looks for men and men, their value is in what they create And their status so women are born with their value which men go after women because of their looks not because of their job or their income and woman as you said, you want a man that makes just as much are more than you and women are attracted to that Not the man looks that’s lower on the priority list so the wall is a terminology that men use to explain your biological clock when it pertains to how you look to have that appeal to the man you want and having kids but you are a very smart girl and I can’t believe that you guys went to the relationship aspect which in that’s the new biggest thing now And it’s a serious issue because a lot of us don’t understand our rules as men and our roles as women and the dynamics. I am happy that in Jamaica they are still pushing young ladies to get married and not be so focused on careers I try to be as thoughtful as possible with my comment and sorry for the long Drawn out explanation, but a great man said you will never know your decisions until you reach your destination
There are people both local and international who would love to live in the St James tourist region, why aren't developers inventing in multi dwelling rental units? I think it a market that is needed but no one is talking about it.
Within 5 years for call centers to be eliminated not sure about that. 10 years for the trucking industry don’t see that maybe long haul being reduced but the infrastructure needs to be set up. There is not a proper infrastructure for electric vehicles. Maybe 20 years but who knows.
The contractor horror stories has created this issue. Not a single trust worthy contractor live or operates in Jamaica - material price is also an issue
Equal does not meant someone who earn just as much as you do we all are equal we need to stop looking on someone’s status or the financial stability the reason why divorce is so high we need to look into someone’s heart and find love not their pocketbook are earning, but someone that makes you happy. It’s greater than anything in the world.
Throp asks perfect relationship questions, he should definitely do the relationship pod. Oh also Men...never take relationship advice from a single woman. find a successful married man in society and listen to his advice. Throp that "will you feel that way at age 40 question was powerful", I saw what you did there.
