I feel like Martin has really improved his live singing over the years. Going back and watching the Days live performances and then seeing this, there’s a significant difference in the tone and warmth of his voice. Hats off to him!
Real Estate is so refreshing and I can listen to their music every day and still get new great vibes and nuances from each and every song. Their recent concert in Los Angeles was one of the most outstanding ones I've been to in a very long time; really AMAZINGLY FANTASTIC!!
Heard these guys in a Starbucks in Singapore one Sunday afternoon. It was a song off of navigator. It was a sound like I’ve never heard before. Just finally was able to see them live in Brooklyn this past year. Really really great musicianship and a fun vibe. Love these guys. Keep pumping out music. Every album is as good if it better than the previous
Love how they all have closed headphones to hear the raw sound... no rely on monitors... this is so ocean blue and all my 90's loves rolled into one. So much sonic love and respect
I'm pretty sure they use the headphones as monitors at KEXP. Might be wrong though, but in a small space it stops bleeding and feedback you would get from actual monitors going to amp mics and vocal mics.
Remember seeing these guys live in my town in Canada. Was so lucky they stopped here. Crowd demanded a couple encores. And they delivered! Probably the best concert I’ve been to.
Dimas imagine this. Every time this song plays no matter if it's live or someone is just playing in their house and a horse just appears out of nowhere just sniffing and chewing on things or maybe standing their admiring you but either way he's there to enjoy the song. Little did you know the band signed a contract and forgot to read the fine lines and one of those fine lines says "every time the song Darling by Real Estate™ is played a horse has to be present" so because of this the government had to come with a special gadget that just makes horses appear out of nowhere and they have to get a fbi ninja guy to come install that for every person ever just in case this song gets played.
So good. Perhaps it happens more often but when I saw them the crowd would NOT stop cheering, which in turn created a triple encore. Rare to get a single encore, I feel crowds don't get hyped like they used to. Maybe its some form of juvenonia on my part idk. What a great band.
Can't believe the edit of the mess up on the intro of after the moon! Was looking forward to seeing them awkwardly look at each other while he fixed the machine
Every band or artist changes throughout their career. Real estate, no different. I actually like more this new signature. more fuzzes, more ambiance. There's even a pinch of psychedelia. It blends nicely with the band's dreamy, laid back sound. If you actually listen to Ducktails... there are some similarities.
I absolutely love what the new dude brings to the band - songs like holding pattern and same sun are a couple of the best tracks they’ve ever put out- don’t think those would have happened with a guitar player like Matt... though he was great with the band.
Absolutely agree. Holding Pattern is something completely fresh, and really something special. Ahh and Same Sun is a damn anthem to me. Could not agree more.
Matt leaving was for the best but why is everyone lying to themselves about him having been the main mind behind Real Estate's music up to the point he left? They've, with certainty, lost some of their magic touch
Second-rate Byrds or The Byrds esp. instrumentally. They couldn't hold a candle to them vocally tho. But for today's standards looking at the music scene, they're a breath of fresh mountain air.
