But is it worth risking the children's health? Some of that filth, odors and bacteria is baked in the walls and floors. Need to spend more money just to clean it up properly
@@rn3403200 unfortunately short sales like these are "as is" so sellers do nothing more besides move out and take w/ever they want! And IMO short sales aren't worth it and they're not short @ all..reg sale of house takes 30-45 days to close but short sales can take 6mths to 2yrs..it's crazy why they call em short sales. If you want big return Best bet is to buy a cheap home like i just seen 1 bought for 33k completely redone but beautifully and on market for 235k! I just got done building my house bc I HATED every house on market even newer homes bc they're all had cheapest material and builder beige/brown everything..there was 1 we put offer on and there was multiple offers we were beat by 500$ and it sold w/in 24hrs being on market...we went to same builder and built same floor plan and picked everything in it and it only cost us 2k more than the other and it has way more upgrades and MY prefect white cabinet and grey everything house!
I bought my house for 5,000$ cash up front. A 1893 farm house that was on the market for 16 years straight. I spent 85,000$ and 4 years of construction on it and it's valued at 1.3 million now. It sits on 5 Acer's o land. I converted the barn into a other single family home to rent out. I updated every part of the main house accept for looks.
If you having issues in this market, you or the agent has missed something. I am a Realtor here in Atlanta, first day on the market and we have atleast 4-6 offers..
Market out here is HOT and so competitive! Is it updated and not builder brown beige everything. Houses out here sell w/ in 24hrs but only modern up to date homes ex. 1s w/ new white cabinets natural stone counters fresh light neutral paint white doors/trim..see alot of peoples problem w/ selling bc they think their brown everything old home that hasn't been updated since being built in 70s is the same COMP value to a updated/new home i just stated is hot on market and newer.. so it just sits on market for over a year and keeps getting taken off market! It's actually cheaper to build a home w/ exact finishes you want then to buy a preexisting home and think your guna fix it up..reality w/ just a basic cheap kitchen remodel you couldve build a brand new house! Unless your getting the home for 35k and fix it w/ quality materials they could sell for 200k. Too many people want way too much for their outdated home ex. Let's say my 3bd 2bth full basement 2car garage brand new home w/ highest upgrades white soft close cabinets granite LVP everywhere cost 200k well then there's a same 3bd 2bth 1960/70s or even 05 home but that has cheapest materials a builder could use ex. Laminate counters..sheet cut vinyl kitchen floors.. brown orangey tone everything like cabinets floors doors trim on market for 190k the home is guna sit and not be sold bc its not a COMP..in reality that person thinks their home is worth 100k more than it is! Maybe do some low cost updating or really look @ market for while and see what's selling and what's sitting forever and you'll get an idea. Of course idk what your home is..i can only state the main issue i see why people are not selling their homes in such a hour market.
Before even showing the house to potential clients, they should throw all the items in a garage somewhere. Also you don't know if a certain collector's item is valuable in there.
Definitely worth it for the first one. The savings are more than enough to justify hiring someone else to clean it. New carpet and paint would make a massive difference
I hate that people overreact about smokers! I’m a smoker, that’s trying to quit but my home doesn’t smell horrible like smoke. My mom was a drug addict and alcoholic and she said quitting smoking was the hardest thing to do. I completely understand that cause I’m having a really hard time doing it no matter how much I try! It’s not that we want to smoke it’s that once you start stopping is damn hard! People need to cut us a damn break!
ᔕɧყ レųиą try vaping. I've smoked on and off for 32 years (so has my hubby) and we gave it a go as it's too expensive to smoke! We've now been vaping exclusively for nearly 6 months. It wasn't easy but we went cold turkey and did it. Only downside for me (not him) is I've put on weight due to snacking 😞 otherwise we're healthier & saving money. Good luck!! 😊😊
Neighbourhood Witch I bought a vape pen but bought the non nicotine kind of oil, realize I gotta start with nicotine oil first. I plan on buying it at the end of this month hopefully, money has been tight my dog got really sick and it’s an ongoing illness now and the meds cost a lot so I have to quit smoking or I’ll be completely broke cause I’m on disability and that’s a limited budget. I’m glad it worked for you and your hubby, I wanna keep away from snacking cause I just lost 40 pounds and don’t want to gain it all back, that’s why I think the nicotine oil might help a bit or I’m hoping? Well good luck, you should be proud cause it’s damn hard!
seems like shortselling can mislead buyers into thinking they can maintain a lifestyle they cant. upkeep of a house like this wont be similarly discounted
This is so sad. This was obviously someone's home. Whatever happened to them that it came to this? I'm wondering if the cats and dogs that are here were abandoned, makes me want to cry. (I bet a greedy bank was behind this)
Delivering heating oil and having to service furnace, I have encountered these kind of homes. Dogs pooping all over the house. I told boss, I refuse to go into these homes.
How to clean up a hoarders house with animal stink, smoking stink and potential mold? Get an ozone generator or two and run them for a few days; Servicepro uses them after fires and floods.
unfortunately short sales like these are "as is" so sellers do nothing more as in repairs or cleaning besides move out and take w/ever they want! And IMO short sales aren't worth it and they're not short @ all..reg sale of house takes 30-45 days to close but short sales can take 6mths to 2yrs..it's crazy and idu why they call em short sales. That is nothing I work for a utility and it ain’t really bad till you have to spray yourself with brake cleaner to kill the fleas before you get back into the truck.
Not really, if you can do it yourself or get it done for free it's pretty cheap. We had to rip out the entire bathroom floor down to the joists because of some water damage and replaced both the sub floor and the top piece of flooring, then installed vinyl. it was probably under $500 for everything. If you want to be a cheap ass you can paint over it to seal in the odor and lay vinyl or carpet over top.
I sold a house that no one would or could show- a dog that had been virtually abandoned and pooping in the house and had bit the person feeding him lol - but I am a dog whisperer and sweet talked the doggie into letting me in by giving him doggie treats and getting down in my knees and saying poor poor baby you mama left you- blah blah- anyhow doggie liked his treats and me let me in followed me to utility room where I gave more treats and closed the door behind me- lol and the showed the house and after escorting buyer out let doggie out- gave him love- and left- I sold the house- he he
My slumlord tried to do a short sale on our rental like this. Very cluttered and lots of broken shit. No one was impressed so somehow we got a new lease which I still to this day can't figure out.
That woman is willing to risk her children's health and well being for a short sale. No, that's not just a little dirt, that's bacteria, mold smoke odors, and filth baked into the walls and floors. All the things that silently make you sick and give kids respiratory problems
People like the reporter are great for the housing market.Hear me out.She has no vision and can't see the potential this home would have cleaned up and some renovation.Someone like me comes in buys the house with a good discount and within a year you have a niche chunk of equity. I bought my house for half of what is worth and renovated it for about 10 grands.its worth double 2 years later.
Some people think that you just clean up a house with a broom and some Windex and others think that you need 10 people in Hazmat suits and a carpenter crew. There is a whole in between.
There’s gotta be stuff in there worth something. A buddy of mine buys hoarder houses, sells valuables, and cleans the house for a flip. His favorite hoarder find is a rare Audi Quattro hiding in the garage Edit: it takes an idiotic amount of time
Get some estimates from companies that remove junk and clean . This would make it a nice home to live in . What is the big deal? Look what you are saving .
After getting the home fumigated and animal removal nope nope nope unless it's $20Gs and get a hauling companies to pull the mess out put in new stove bathroom frig etc. Yep also do a title search. These sellers don't do that but u may have to pay past county or city fees.
Sorry Jen... That house at $525,000 that is offered for $315,000 is over-priced. It's worth about $178,000 and then trash-out is deducted from that. A house of more than $1/2 million may be just a marginal value at $150,000. A house near me went from $1.8 million to about $.75 million. It sat on the market for close to a decade and at $3/4 million it was only a marginal deal. A man I know got an absolute sreamin' deal on a house... about $350,000 for $205,000. After many months on the market he was able to unload the house for a $60,000 loss.
If you're a real estate investor and can't see past cigarette butts, dog shit and piss, then you're in the wrong business. The first house, probably won't even need 50k for clean up and reno. Then flip for 700k and get almost 100% return. Great investment. Savvy investors can easily see that. That's the reason why he had so many offers in the end.
Theres often a lot of hidden damage. Goes beyond just cleaning it up. Houses like these are typically neglected in many ways. Plumbing and wiring issues are common. Damage to the floors and walls are common too and hidden under all the crap. Loading a house up with junk causes a surprising amount of damage
This is ridiculous. You call this disrepair? All you need to do is clean it, vacuum it and hire a firm to get rid of the smell. That's 1-2 thousand bucks. Seriously?
WTF. This isn't even that bad? Just hire a cleaning crew or spend a few hours doing it yourselves. They make it sound like these are the worst of the worst, and it really isn't.
