what about the static test? rubbing the stone and seeing if it causes bits of paper to stick to the stone?

No, many materials can take and hold a static charge (inconclusive test). Amber is buoyant in salt water, as are some plastics (inconclusive test). Even Inconclusive tests can sometimes be helpful because if it floats you are not certain, so out of luck so far, but if it sinks you know it's not amber.

This disturbing odor is formaldehye odor, its terrible. I produce and supply direct liquid resin or cured artificial amber in Istanbul.

Divine Masculine, only if it's pure amber. If there's metal or beading elastic then it won't work.

It's so annoying when people sell plastic and call it Baltic amber it's nothing short of stealing ! It should be a crime to sell something and then oh btw put it in the recycling bin!
