@@paquinraino8180 yes he did yall KD haters are lying They was calling KD the Prototype KD inspired Chet he inspired Victor wemby and palo all long skinny tall scorers
@@darnellwilliams8783he had hype but he didn’t have bron hype that’s a different kind of hype only players wit bron type hype I’ve seen is wemby and Zion. There’s a reason Greg oden went #1 bron not going #2 to oden with his hype
The biggest reason people don’t put KD on that level is because he got his 2 rings while being on that stacked Warriors squad. Until KD proves he can win another one elsewhere, that’s not gonna change. Still easily one of the best players of the generation. But Lebron’s won with 3 different franchises. And Steph has 2 additional rings without KD. PS - this Gilbert Arenas podcast consistently has some of the worst takes I’ve ever heard.
Yeah, if Lebron ended with the 2 rings in Miami and never got ther 3rd one with Cleveland, people would be putting him down below other players. KD needed Steph a potentially top 10-15 player to win, the best player Lebron had to play with was Wafe who kind of started dropping off after that first los to dalas.
@seanp9439 KD is top 5 all time and yall are Lebron cheerleaders yall hate KD for taking two rings from Lebron when Lebron was being dominated by Boston he ran to South Beach his rings don't count
@@eleonarcrimson858 late for what? Media been riding his dick for 20 years, that's longevity. Talking about age, you're probably a kid yourself lol, always insecure ones
It’s crazy how much KD was loved before the move to golden state. He was very marketable. I recall him being a mommas boy and people loved that and him staying true to okc would’ve been amazing.
I think we can make the argument that just because someone had a long career in the NBA, its doesn't automatically mean they understand basketball. Ain't no way in hell can you make a case for KD over Lebron
long career in the nba?? lmao Mccants didn't even finish his rookie contract and was out of there... and he gets to be even worse as an "analyst" than he was an NBA player
Kevin Durant isn’t even better than Stephen Curry never mind LeBron James 😂😂😂 when you and Sage posted your rant video about KD, losing to the Nuggets Sage said something i agree with more than anything he’s ever said “ KD is a top 3 player in his generation, once Steph hit his peak i never once thought peak KD was better than peak Steph or Lebron”. if anything we should be saying that Steph could be looked at better than Lebron after they’ve retired his case is WAY stronger than KD’s. Lebron and Steph are the top two of their generation and it’s not even close….after 2014 Steph Curry really said hold my beer im gonna come and make everyone think im better than Lebron, people forget that when steph first came on to the scene people thought he might be better than Bron….maybe that’s just a hot take tho 🤷🏽♂️
That did happen. When 2016 popped off for like 7 months up until the finals, steph was considered better than lebron. Then lebron said "No." Lol I dont think anyone has ever had Kevin durant over lebron during their peaks. The only time was when Kevin durant was fighting with giannis but he fucked up again.
NBA players tend to judge other players on how well they can cook them in a 1 v 1 and not as a team 5 v 5 situation. KD is the better '1 v 1 player' but Lebron the better system 5 v 5 team.
@@jeancholidis658you just a emotional KD hater take a hike you lebron cheerleader and steph curry can't be better than Durant since he begged KD to join the Warriors after Kyrie cooked him
@@darnellwilliams8783 how am i being a hater when im speaking facts?? and steph is better because he won without KD….all KD has done is get bounced out of the first second and round since he left the warriors. Steph didn’t need KD to beat lebron it was the other way around
This was so disturbing to watch. Don’t get it twisted, KD is a phenomenal player and he will go down as one of the NBA’s greatest. With that being said, he’s not better than lebron. People want to say lebron leaving Cleveland in ‘10 is the same but it’s not. Lebron left for a heat time that was a fringe playoff team that hasn’t seen the finals since ‘06 while KD went and joined a team that he had on the ropes, lost to, and just set the season record in wins. KD has yet to prove that he can win without stacking the deck. I wish people on these platforms would just call a spade a spade
Coming into the league, LeBron, entering straight out of high school, had much more hype than KD. James had Jordan comparison talk before he played a game in the NBA. There was a lot of hype around KD the year he was drafted no doubt about it, but in 2003, the Cavs didn’t have any “Honk once for LeBron, honk twice for Melo” billboards around Cleveland like Portland had as they debated drafted Durant or Greg Oden. Again, McCants with a take that literally holds zero weight.
this made me realize that you can cut lebron's career in two like before and after the 2014 summer when he went back to cleveland, and both halves are pretty clearly better on their own than KD's entire career.
i'll play devil's advocate, KD was up 3-1 on that 73-9 warriors team the series immediately before that. Some even argue that's why the warriors lost, cause they were gassed...Iguodala admitted that '16 OKC team was the best team that year. Easy to sum things up but KD's put in work.
HoFer or bust (specifically MJ level or bust lmao) is a crazy expectation to a high schooler lmao. Like imagine young KD, being told : "Aye bruh you better go beyond Kareem or you a sorry ass bum👀"
What really elevated Lebron in a lot of peoples eyes was him going back to Cleveland and winning there and that win lowkey elevated his Miami chips cause if he didn’t win anywhere other than Miami they’d be saying what they say about KD rn which is he went to GS and got those “easy rings” basically but if KD went back to OKC or sht went to his hometown like Washington and won there than he’d atleast have a better argument here and that would make people look at his GSW rings or maybe just his career in a better light
Hell if KD would've won anywhere outside of GSW he would've been more validated. It's not only the fact that he hasn't won, but he's had some pretty questionable playoff moments since leaving there.
@@BLee09 yea it could’ve been anywhere but he would’ve had to of won cause he’s had crazy playoff moments like the carry job against Milwaukee with the line on the foot shot with Kyrie and Harden out and like it was a great moment for him but people don’t really care care about that in the grand scheme of things yk but like if he could’ve carried that team past Milwaukee and to the finals even if he lost it would prob be looked at like Lebrons 2015 loss and his career in general would prob be looked at in a better light. But yea ultimately if he really wanted to put himself on that same typa level as lebron he would’ve had to of won a chip anywhere else outside of GS
Tbh I’m still pissed that i didn’t get a CAVS & OKC finals bcs i was so excited seeing Bron,Kyrie,KLove & KD,Russ,Ibaka matching each other. After losing the WCF,move to the Warriors & winning 2 rings it was for me clear that Steph & Bron clears him all day.
Yeah, if he cleared that warriors team while in okc and then beat Lebron in the finals, then we would be having a genuine convo about him being better than lebron. But that never happened. @@bp2000k
@@darnellwilliams8783 Bro you're big mad with all these hatin' comments lmao. Yes, a team with all star veterans beat the one man show in Cleveland. The fact that Bron made multiple deep playoff runs and a finals appearance with Zydrunas Ilgauskas is a testament to his greatness, not a detriment.
Here’s the thing, KD was a heck of a player going into the league, but he did not have the same hype as LeBron. If that was the case, he would’ve been a sure fire number one pick. But no, they drafted Greg Oden.
its incredible how many bad takes they can spew one after the other and everyone just responds with a "mhm" and never challenges anything anyone else says like this shits wild to listen to
@@zombie92110 he's a good one tho, bron rn shows no effort and that's my only issue, he's smart ash and he usually rotates well but he gets beat off the dribble too easy and there's many plays where he could easily alter a shot but chooses to just stay there and watch
@@zombie92110 yh ofc fam, at their peaks it's not a contest but as of rn I think KD is more valuable defensively. If bron played defense in the regular season how he does in the post season then I'd take it back
The only reason KD is considered top 15 is because he went to GS tho, with his rings hes barely 25, up there with Russ and Harden MVPs who didnt do anything else, people think him going thete hurt his legacy, without it people would think even less of him, just like him more.
“i don’t even believe the difference between KD and steph and brons jerseys sales are that big🤓” after the fact you just looked it up and found he wasn’t even top 10 what argument are trying to have 💀
KD can’t even carries like LeBron. KD might be More skillful & talented, yet Bron is a type of player that makes better offense & let players involved. Plus he still plays like he’s 23 yrs old. Love KD & he’s one of my fav player but Bron still clears him 💯
They're not exactly wrong but the media and the Lebron fans killed KDs career when he left OKC and then KD killed his own career when he left Golden State. If KD stayed in Golden State and stacked more championships than Lebron, he'd have more respect. He may not be viewed as better than Lebron but he'd be viewed in a whole different light.
What u mean Bron fans & the media? His move to Miami was a new perspective of ppl viewing LeBron with hate. Yet Bron had the balls to come back at the weak CAVS & made history with Kyrie & K Love. KD in other hand moved to a Team that beated him even though OKC were above Warriors 3-1 in the WCF. I was so hyped for the CAVS & OKC Finals. The move to the Warriors & winning 2 rings is just a example how Bron & Steph clears him. Ofc he can move to OKC to prove ppl wrong but rn nah.
This shit makes no sense. Boston has a history of not being able to sign free agents because players don't think the city is attractive. Chicago was NOTHING before Michael and after him is almost nothing. The Knicks brings more attention than the Bulls. KS is not better than Lebron. Never was, never will. He is not a playmaker like James, in their prime Lebron was a way better defender than him. He is a scorer. A fantastic scorer, but that's it.
it has nothing to do with media. lebron left scraps. Kd left an all nba player best bench player in the league. A guy who was one oF the best shotblockeRs in the league. A great defender in roberson. Its not the same. Lebron with kyrie type and love type before he left he would have never left. He knew they wasnt good enough to win and bad enough to get high picks. He left made sure when he came back they would have some shit to work with
Even with Lebron and Curry popping off how they did KD had his chances when he went to Brooklyn and the owners gave him everything he wanted gets locked down by Boston demands out goes to Phoenix gets blown out by Jokic KD is great can easily crack the top ten by the end of his career but a lot of why he’s not consistently put with Bron Curry Jokic Giannis is his own fault and failures
Greatest moment as a player in the playoffs was in a series where he lost think about that that is not hating on Kevin Durant that’s not saying Kevin Durant is a bad player. That is a fact LeBron has so many moments y’all need to stop the hate man.
kareem is the only player to have had lebron's hype. lebron was selling out akron's arena as a 16 year old. comparing KD's hype to that is such a glaze they should be selling donuts
In Lebron's defense also, let's not forget that his abilith to make EVERY PLAYER ON THE COURT better is vastly better than KD's. Lebron doesn't just have an incredibly higher ceiling but he's in my opinion the best floor raiser I've ever seen in this league. The only player who is on his level was Magic. KD will NEVER be as complete of a player as LBJ. Their podcast is just spewing lies and non sense. Edit: You're now speaking about Lebron's ability to distribute so disregard every thing I said above and I'll now just say, you're completely correct and I agree. 😂😂
I feel like alot of people who don’t hoop don’t understand that you can be on the same tier as another player, and not have the legacy that other player has… there are arguably a couple better players than bron… it’s all an argument because once you get to that level of skill, it’s subjective of who is actually better. Legacy determines who had the best situations or who was luckiest.
@@ianmaxwell1282 I think that’s a bit harsh… I was just speaking on how people who play the game think… you can listen to KD and Gil, and these players speak on the game and from what they say, skill is subjective once you get to the peak… hell in that spaces where KD was talking to LOW he mentioned that nobody in the league will say something like “rim pressure” because 10 feet is a layup to him. I feel like many people don’t understand that you can know the game and still come to different conclusions.
What he saying I think is real basketball players will be speaking about them in the same conversation because if we’re just talking basketball Lebron in the media is untouchable people love him more than they hate him. So many people hate KD and it’s basically because he moved to GSW. But to casuals they gonna say this sounds crazy. But KD basketball just basketball is top tier. 60/40/90 is hard to do and The dude is just as good. You have players who think pass first and those players who’s thinking get buckets. Both of them are the best at that. Lebron best pass first player and KD better bucket getter
Thank you McCants spoke from a hoopers perspective not a fan💯KD is more skilled his handle his shooting his footwork give defenders nightmares. Lebron he’s just big and literally bulldozes into defenders and it’s a foul on you😭
@Dipset415 for one thing, lebron never got that many foul calls compared to bruisers like shaq. He only got high FT during his 1st Cleveland run but guys like Dwade and AI got just as much calls
@@Dipset415this wasn’t a “hoopers” perspective, especially coming from a dude that (compared to his league peers) was an afterthought before his first contract was up. Had to play overseas to make a living. Respect for that. But his “opinion” isn’t based on some high level basketball experience that buffers his terrible takes. Same for Arenas. Being an NBA player doesn’t mean you KNOW more or are more capable of making a rational argument. His point(s) were simply just attempts at pointing fingers at narratives with ZERO substance. KD can shoot 3’s/FT’s better. That’s it. Their handle is the same, with KD’s being a little more fluid and aesthetically appealing to watch. Their handle is just different not better. LeBron give teams nightmares not just with footwork but with IQ as well. That’s not even including being a better passer, rebounder, defender, teammate, leader, RINGS, etc etc. McCants is full of it. Same as your trite arguments.
Btw he has NEVER gotten to 60/40/90. He’s done 50/40/90 twice. He can score with the best of them. It’s just LeBron is the best of them. And has been since he entered the league WHILE leading his teams BOTH rebounds/assists at times. And also being an all league defender. KD will go down as one of the greats. For sure. Just not in the conversation with Lebron/MJ/Kobe types. Saying the guy that just scored 39,000 points isn’t a bucket getter is HILARIOUS to me. 😂
@@they.m.o.podcast9974 ok so yeah I didn’t know I put 60 but yes it’s 50 if I can edit it I will. I never said he wasn’t a bucket getter he’s not known for being a bucket getter. And as far as conversation when those conversations come up about greats I’m talking about KD if we’re adding Kobe and Lebron. Because in my opinion if I’m talking about goats I’m not talking about nobody but one other dude. Also the whole 39,000 points scored is a great achievement but honestly if anyone plays consistently good for 20 years they will be at the all time leading in anything so the longevity stuff to me is a cheap argument basically because well I mean what’s else is his points gonna do go down lol. Average Per Game is impotn to ball players. Not how much you scored all of your whole career. Because if that’s the case we would be talking way more about Karl Malone as the goat lol 😂 And Lebron is definitely top tier when it comes to scoring but he seems to not make it look as easy which is also the conversation me and my people have. I’ve seen him do it in a Miami and in Cleveland against Detroit I was legit like WOW he’s a Problem. His mindset of passing or making the right play is what kills it sometimes for me. It’s not about how many points you score sometimes it’s about how easy you made it look. Stats are important to me but I have an eye test in my life that makes me just feel like he’s good but something’s off.
KD is not marketed to the fashion of Lebron. No one can criticize Lebron in mass media without backlash. No other player has that favor. That's too notch marketing. Deflecting all criticism. Ive never heard anyone say KD needs more help ever. They say KD needs to be better. Lebron's failures are always someone else's fault.
If he thinks KD isn't better than lebron rn, what does he think he's going to do that will propel him past lebron? Lebron is still doing a crazy amount of things and he's about to be 40. KD is also approaching the end of his career as well and he's already getting hurt just as much as lebron is rn.
@@eghoseisiramen1892 the only thing stopping them is health. they have the star players and now they have a bench. there’s no good reason to lose this year at least
McCants should have elaborated on How from now till the end of KD’s career, what he believes he’s gonna do that lol surprise LeBron by the time Leebron retires I would love to know what he thinks kd it’s gonna do
he switch teams too much to have a high all time selling jersey and the cities he played in are smaller markets (specifically the city where he was undoubtedly that number 1 guy in OKC)
'Real hoopers' is always just lame gatekeeping. When you know almost no one agrees with you, you try to invalidate everyone's opinion who disagrees. KD is never going to be ranked above Lebron all-time. Lebron has accomplished more than KD has time to catch.
KD is my favorite player, but the only thing i could agree with out of any of this is that the Media is really pushing LeBron and Steph with the Longevity narrative, and not KD. Only time i saw KD mentioned is when he played poorly his first game this season, and there were talks about how he might be washed. Hes currently averaging 31-7-5 on 50-50-90 splits at the age of 35 hooping like if it was his MVP season, and no one is really talking about it.
Because bron already did ts… KD has to WIN and perform well in the playoffs… not just be an elite jump-shooter because thats the only “elite” aspect of his game
The more they talk the more they expose themselves as a bad source for hoops talk. This take can’t be real in what metric is KD better than lebron? I guess if you want to say shooter yea but not scorer not defender passer rebounder leader he was the focal point he didn’t have to join the warriors this is wild af and makes dude look lost
I'm not really a fan of either of them so no bias here from me. But the differences are kind of obvious. KD got hurt and LeBron won in Cleveland after leaving Miami. I think without that championship people wouldn't have LeBron top 3-4; no chance otherwise he goes down like a Wilt top 10 at best.
Too Think KD Is Better Than Bron Is Blasphemous..KD Is Known As A Better Scorer But Yet Their Literally Not A Whole Point Apart🤨..But Bron Is Known As The "Best All Around Player" How Many Defensive Team KD Got? I Aint Gotta Look🤣🤣 And More Durable WTF🤣🤣🤣
lebron and stephs marketing compared to kd is a huge gap when you look at social media followers, jersey sales, commercials, lebron and steph both have $1B dollars deals with nike/under armour, both family men, theyre just a lot more marketable. even when you hear rappers name drop steph and lebron in songs lol. Id argue giannis is closer to kd than kd is to bron and steph.
also steph and bron both do things on the court that are rare (lebron dunking from the ft line, steph shooting from halfcourt) kd is nice but he doesnt do anything we havent seen before
KD will never be in the competition for the best to ever play. He has always fallen short on the leadership part and this is not going to change. He hasn't been able to carry a team to a title without being overwhelming favorites in joining a 73 win Warriors team, a team that set an NBA record for wins in the regular season. KD is probably the best ever in putting the ball through the hoop from anywhere on the court. He is tops on that. LeBron is just way more versatile player and he has led teams to titles... On three different franchises. While titles aren't everything in this discussion, it is still not nothing... And KD is not going to win 2-4 more titles as he is already starting to slow down... This is not even a discussion.
Or maybe kd doesn’t get pushed on lebron’s level, because he isn’t on his level. Lebron through his career is a better defender, passer, playmaker, rebounder, higher basketball IQ, has more rings, more all nba selections, more all nba defense selections, more finals mvps, more mvps. The only thing Kd does better than lebron is shoot/score. This is a dumbass argument
You non hoopers are shocked by this😭😭real hoopers don’t think lebron is all that💯no handle no moves no bag just a big dude playing basketball like a football player. Hoopers look at dudes like Paul George Durant Steph kyrie etc and are giving it up to there skill level💯while Lebron fans look at the stats sheet and the lies these dudes in mainstream media tell for 15 years +
If you think you qualify yourself as a “real hooper” because you have asinine and inaccurate opinions then sure YOU are a real hooper😂 Nothing you said was accurate or right. Love how people lean on buzz words to try to prove their lazy and stupid claims. “Real hoopers” look at what “real basketball” is. Not some buzz words like “bag”. If your definition of what defines a “hooper” is how aesthetically appealing their handle is or how “shifty” their bodies are then you’re simply what you hate, a casual. Funny enough the people YOU named, would tell you otherwise about how DEEP of a “bag” LeBron has and how “skilled” he is. Btw complaining about the “stat sheets” just shows how much of a casual you are. Yeah actual evidence is the problem. lol You are literally a “non hooper” 😂
Idk these arguments are silly, like what does it say about real hoopers if the guys who are just big are out doing them. Flash is great and all, but does it matter if big dude is gonna dominate you and you can't stop it.
Bro already at like 2:30 Arenas take is already an L, Chicago was not a huge market team until Jordan made it what it is. Celtics and lakers I’ll give him but Chicago would be another Milwaukee without Jordan
Facts, in terms of big media markets the NY influence is wayy bigger than Chicago, and you see it to this day if the knicks and bulls are similar in results the success of a player in NY has a lot more weight
@@MrSlashblade you’re delusional if you believe “just because it’s Chicago” Seattle is equivalent and their whole team got nuked from the NBA. @@Tonymarshall11 yea those teams were bigger but the bulls would still be a big market team because they were in the city of chicago. The bulls would not have been at the height of the basketball notoriety that it is today, but it still would have been a big market.
