Did I read it right ?? 2008 as the leader of Bigbang ?? Idk if my reading comprehension is very poor but either way, solo or as a group, it is still wrong. GD debuted as a leader of Bigbang in 2006 not 2008 and if we will talking about his solo debut, he debuted in 2009 not 2008 too. But maybe it is just a wrong caption.

He 'was' a trend setter?! He still is! Look at all the idols wearing nail polish look at the mullets they're sporting now he did it way back in Paris Fashion Week when he had red hair during his MOTTE world tour as well. The crazy hair colours that's staple to KPop was started by YG if not GDragon. Everyone is into art and art museums these days but GDragon (and TOP) were into it way back before it was 'cool', they basically made the general KPop idol consider art cool. Kpop didn't embrace street wear when he came around for the first time why do you think they embrace it now? His PeaceminusoneXNike are sought after not just in Korea but around the world. Working with Nike is a privilege only people like Kanye West, Michael Jordan, Travis Scott. He is the single most impactful Korean artist it's a shame to even call him a 'trend setter' because he's more than that his sense of style is his form of art. Also, his MVs have contributed so much to shaping the general aesthetic of Kpop MVs as we know it. Now that everyone is doing the over-the-top visuals he popularised first with his Heartbreaker and then with their following MVs he is now venturing into simplified visuals with 'Untitled' and I'm sure ppl will follow again. Maybe years in the future. He is a champion of androgynous fashion and why do you think androgyny has become so accepted and even 'trendy' in Kpop? He is the blueprint and everyone else is the shadow of his shadow. And also your insights are ao 'entryway'

지디가 시대를 앞섰다는것도 있지만 지디가 유행을 만들고 그게 아직까지도 유행인데 너무나도 자주 지디를 따라해서 우리의 문화가 되고 지디가 군대를 가고 끊긴줄만 알았던 지디의 유행이 사실 아직까지도 현재진행형이고 장본인이 잠깐 없었을뿐임

When I hear GD in interviews I am always impressed by his creative mind . He always tries to find new ways to express himself and do new things . He is a creator, a designer, writter . Music , art , fashion nothing is taken just the way it is , all is modified by him and in the end something new comes out of this proces, something in his own style. With clothing too , he does not just wear the designer chothing just the way they are . Like , a lot of celebrities look good dressed in latest fashion trend but GD takes those clothes and adds his own details to them and what you get is Chanel but in a very distinctive GD style . He merges what the initial designer did with his ideas . This is why it makes me sad to see all the celebrities wearing Kwondo shoes just the way they are sold . GD designed them as a blank canvas for the person to personalise but I have yet to see a person make their own pair unique adding stuff to it

He makes trends and others are claiming some of it now. But he truly is an icon. I remember my Korean students back then, we are talking about fashion during our free talk time. They said in Korea GD is fashion icon and I just agreed. They're not even kpop fan they just know GD because of fashion.
