The actor who played the judge was the MVP of the trial. My favorite moment is when the court listens to "Empty Bottle" and the judge is just stone faced hahaha

There's no way he's not a retired judge or possibly a current judge on a weekend. They're such public figures they tend to have no issue with being on tv or to explain things to tv people about how things work. Tim's production company has worked with quite a few lawyers and judges on shows like Nathan for you who are featured. It makes it way more realistic when you can just tell him "just play yourself exactly as you've done a million times and treat it like a real case"

The two men were real lawyers & the woman was an actor, but also had experience. Pretty sure the judge might actually be one/was one or is also a lawyer. The majority of this was improvised as well.

This is really fun! I'm actually rewatching the entire On Cinema chronicles to "catch up" before the upcoming season and we just finished the entire four-hour trial. Fun fact: A lot of the people involved actually had a background in law. The actress who played the assistant DA attended Harvard Law School and Cambridge as a paralegal. From what I recall, Tim's attorney also had some legal background even though he's only there fir the first day of the trial. Also, to anyone unfamiliar with On Cinema, I'd really, really suggest you watch the entire series (or at least the "episodes"). I know it's quite an undertaking, but it goes a long way in making this four-hour trial really, really enjoyable. So much slow-burn comedy.

Definitely. I think it's also great watching this without knowing anything about on cinema too though, it was my first exposure to the series and it was honestly mind blowing how over the course of 4 hours the story unfolded so naturally and got more and more absurd. even though there's never any actual footage of the festival the image it paints in your mind by the end is the most hilariously fucked up thing, and it works so well leaving that part up to the audiences imagination. But yea, it's definitely even funnier when you actually know the on cinema lore, it's so worth it, at least in this point in the series

Thankfully as we later found out in Mister America, one of the jurors, Tony Newman, who was romantically interested in Heidecker, found him not guilty! What a wonderful sign that our justice system works! Tony and Tim got married and lived happily ever after until their bitter divorce.

It’s difficult to understand the little details of the trial if you haven’t watched On Cinema at the Cinema. Tim in the season previous to the festival and trial, got addicted to the vape because it contained multiple different experimental drugs and was getting progressively more and more strung out

I would watch police interrogations and rhe Tim Heidecker Trial video got recommended. This fake trial actually got me primed for, and interested in the real trials of true crime cases I would look up. You know what fairly recent trial I thought was pretty crazy that no one seems to do their videos on? That guy Markeith Lloyd, there was just a lot going on, organized confusion almost. With the crime, the arrest, interrogation, trial, what happened outside of court, everything was just a little crazy, the kind of thing you'd think true crime youtubers to make a vid on.

I honestly don't think especially with the advertising to kids change that making money from ads on youtube is very viable nowadays unlesd you model after traditional media...

The character of Tim Heidecker in "On Cinema" and the resulting trial is just amazing. So consistent across the years at his core through all the strange phases he goes through, always the same incredible lowlife, a type of role that's not easy to play. I think it's one of the most underappreciated roles I've ever seen.

Tim is brilliant I love him and this is his Magnum opus, one of the greatest creations of comedy/media that has ever been made.

When I first saw the Heidecker Murder Trial, I didn't know that it was an Adult Swim™ production. I think I was first served up Day 3, and I was completely mesmerized, so I had to try and find the origins. I was well taken in, and getting to see the stunning production and writing of this filled me with glee and kudos. I'm glad to see that you're enjoying it as well.

OBJECTION: I'm going to step up for the VAPE NATION here. The picture you showed with unregulated vs regulated vapes at 4:30 just mean the type of device used to produce vape. Regulated mods have overcurrent protection chips and unregulated (or mechanical) mods use straight battery power and require basic electrical knowledge to use safely. They are both legal and easily purchasable. Unregulated cartridges are the issue both you and the video are referring to, but the picture doesn't reference those.

I realized the thing about the defense waiting until the prosecution rests but I didn't realize that it was normal 30 years ago... imagine how often an innocent person didn't stand a chance because the jury had their minds made up days before they even started their defense

4:36 The regulation in terms of the vapes is actually JUST in terms of how the vape outputs its power to the heating source, nothing to do with like government regulation. Most of the vapes that are actually approved for sale are technically unregulated.. just gives a few volts to a pre-made heating element. And the vapes that are regulated are the fancier ones that are made in china lol

Hey really fast tom. That picture you showed with the "regulated and unregulated" mods. Is correct but you are using it in the wrong context. Those mods he sold were "poisonous" not exploding. That's the only issue with the unregulated mods. The unregulated mods are made for more experienced vapers that know exactly what there doing. sO if used improperly they CAN explode. Not saying your wrong in anyway just wanted to let you know from a guy who's been vaping for 7 years. Your basically spot on though. Those mods are the main target point for the 'TRUTH" adds saying how deadly "Vaping" is but show a Juelz in the add. Basically manipulating the public to think all the "vaping put me in the hospital" is the actual mods. When the Juelz were released and a matter of months later people started "dieing" from "VAPE"

A regulated vape and a unregulated vape are both legal and a unregulated one isn't more unhealthy. Unregulated means the battery isn't regulated by a electronic system that lets you adjust the power without having to use ohms law to calculate what kind of coil resistance you need

Lol wrong use of regulated vs unregulated vape in the illustration. That's referring to regulated and unregulated circuits. Regulated circuits have the voltage regulated by a pcb while the mechanical or unregulated mods are regulated by the resistance of the coil itself.
