Thanks for the post! I'm pretty handy, licensed plumbing contractor. I'm 50 y/o. Was thinking of purchasing and building this shed. So glad I watched your video! Looks like a good long weekend sun up to sundown build. Heck of alot of up and down ground and ladder. 2000 + parts. No thank you. Think I'll spend the money on a pre-built delivered woodframe with double sided enamel aluminum siding 60mph wind rating for 3x the money. We get what we pay for. Great build and video sir👍. Thank you for saving me from this hassle!!!!

Point noted. I wanted an economical solution, so I went in this direction. I had rather a prebuilt, but it just wasn't in my price range. Instead of spending a ton, I took the leftover funds and added LED lighting, metal shelving, air conditioning, and power throughout.

Ok I am helping a friend put one of these things up and we had problems with how the instructions dictated info and also decided not to follow their writings. Many thanks for your help bud and will be re-watching the vid again as we go. Ad far as I am concerned, I would not recommend this building to people and I would never purchase one of these units myself. But good luck to all who attempt this build and do finish it. Thanks again !

Thank you for the video. I've already built a couple of these, and ran into the same problem with the insufficient screw length on the roof section. I watched your video as a refresher because I'll be putting another one together shortly. Prep work is key. By methodically sorting out the components and separating the nylon washers you made the build a lot less frustrating and saved tons of time. You're not alone by installing the roof trusses incorrectly, I did the same thing. Thanks for the laugh, but I have to be honest, I can think of a thousand other things I'd rather be doing.

I bought this 10ft.x14ft. Arrow shed in Sept. of 2021 an started putting it together in November of same year.The sales model at Lowes was from 2020 on back an was slightly a little different in appearance but same size and color.I used the hardware included an it came out pretty good.#1 thing to do is have a fairly level base to build on,#2 is lay out your parts #3 is have patience!!! especially if you haven’t done anything like this in a long time.I am 68yrs old an built the kit by myself cause that’s how I always have done things.I did run into some problems like putting the wall panels flipped incorrectly an getting frustrated.The hardware included in the kit will work properly, I didn’t need anything else except some better quality foil tape for ridge top seams.Some of the tools I used were needle nose vice grips, pointed nail punch,small size socket with ratchet an ratchet bar, Phillips screw driver, pistol grip clamps.

Concerning water leakage,i siliconed all screws on the inside coming through the roof an the front ,back ridge ends,i also would stay inside the shed during a down pour to see where else it might leak,mine still leaks just around the door bottoms but not too bad so I am satisfied with it storing items that I want to keep dry!

Built this exact model last week. Went pretty smooth . Did everything by myself except the roof. Will definitely need someone on the inside to hold nuts with small set of needle nose pliers. Definitely do not attempt if windy. I was lucky weather was nice. One of the most important tips I can offer is to be sure floor is level & perfectly square, if not none of the predrilled holes will line up. Took me four days, three of the four working alone.

I've put together 5 Arrow sheds & one just like you did today although I think the Arrow 10x14 Oakbrook Steel Storage Shed Kit (OB1014) is maybe the best one to put up, everything is just the same except the roof that is a lot easier, yet it is still plenty tall enough for most people, now when it comes to the ridge caps they do take a bit of thinking outside that box, mostly when it comes to putting in the screws that are just out of reach & you CAN'T lean on the roof for supporting. And I got the screws to work fine that came with it for the roof ridge caps so it would have been interesting to see what problems you were having, maybe it's just because you did not have another person to help you on the inside of the shed. I'm getting a foundation set up for another one now, & if I do the one like yours I'm going to do 2 things that are not suggested to do. # 1, I'm only putting the ridge cap on the top leaving off the two that are on each side it. The point of this is that they just tend to hold levees thus water trapped with the leaves making the shed more likely to rust under the ridge caps. Now I will use better aluminum duct tape that I have always done anyways. And # 2, I'm leaving off all the plastic washer that are used to make the screws watertight. Now I've never left them off before so we will see how it goes. OK, I know what your thinking, but I plan on painting the roof right away with some nice thick roof coating type paint. Now I always do that anyways but normally I wait about a year to let the gloss bake off in the sun. I have already taken off the two ridge caps from my mom's shed that is like yours (they sent us the wrong shed, she is only about 5' 2" tall) , & painted it up real nice. We live in Rockport TX. but wherever you live paint it if you want it to last longer. I'm not sure about the snow load you are going to have on your shed, something to think about. The last shed I got the sheet metal screws were to soft & I had a hard time getting them to go in the pilot holes, it made the job a lot harder, I called them afterwards & they said they got a hold of some bad screws & apologized & even sent me some more screws, that I still have in a jar, I should have not let them send them to me, I did not really need them & I'm sorry for that. I sure hope they have the better screw again, for this next shed. I had three during the hurricane the two on concrete got destroyed but the one on a wood foundation just moved a few feet but no harm at all, I just had to move it back. I really think it is a two person job, & because of the wind I get at least a 3ed to help me hold the corner for about an hour. And I think the directions are great, no problems at all, maybe just a little tricky & you have to pay real close attention to them. But I have done a few of them so that helps me to understand the directions. I remember the first on I put up my dad was saying to me "John just drill a whole in it," but I would not do it, I knew it had to be something I was doing wrong, & it was that I just had something backwards. If anything will not fit something is being done wrong don't drill a whole in anything. Well thanks for the upload. OK I'm back I was thinking I never put the trim on the lower part of the roof panels I think they just cause it to rust all the more you know by catching levees & such, now if you are thinking a person might cut there head on the sharp metal that is a good point but as with your shed that is very unlikely. WOW, @ 20:24 I see (now that I'm watching the video the rest of the way through) that at Lowe's, they were wrong putting screws through to the top support the screws are just meant to go through the two roof panels. Taking away a star from the rating you might want rethink about that, now if it deserves 5 stars that is still up for debate, but for what it is & for the money it is fair enough.

You, my friend, have had the best, well thought of comment of all time. IM SPEECHLESS
@VerifyVeracity
@VerifyVeracity 4 года назад
@@Pondiver Thanks And if you don't mind me saying one more thought, just for the watchers of this video, And that is that a person might think about, that they should just make the foundation just the size suggested, even with the outer edge of the foundation being beveled, Well they said it best in the instruction. " Note: Platform/Slab will extend 9/16" (1,4 cm) beyond floor frame on all four sides. Seal this 9/16" (1,4 cm) of wood with a roofing cement (not included), or ( I would have said 'or/and' ) bevel this 9/16" (1,4 cm) of concrete when pouring, for good water drainage. " The first one I put up I did not edged the concrete i.e. rounded the edge of the concrete, thus some water would run down the walls & then goes under the walls, but it was really a easy thing to fix, like they said. Now if a person wants a bigger foundation it could just be a little lower right beyond the shed footprint. I put a ramp on the 2 I did with a concrete foundation & is was real easy to slope the ramp starting right away just a little. And on the wood foundations I use fiberglass mat & resin to waterproof it, rolling the mat around the face of the foundation leaving it hang down about 1/4 inch so the water will drip off rather than roll around onto the wood. Now this is not near as hard as one would think to do. Doing a roof with fiberglass the other day I just found a new way to deal with wraping the mat around the wood, that I wish I would have found years ago. :) If you want to know the trick just let me know. And of course I fill the wholes that I make make for the Lag screws with silicone or silicone calk. Now one thing I'm thinking is, do I need to use a double 2"x6" around the perimeter so that it would be thicker so that I would have more meat to use for the Lag bolts. I'm going to go the the one that is still at a rent house of mine to see what I did back then. :) Well, Take care I normally don't ramble on so much, but I do like thees sheds, even thought about putting them up for people, but I would have to get a decent amount to do it. :)
@VerifyVeracity
@VerifyVeracity Год назад
The one I put up around 12 years ago with a fiberglass floor & well painted I'm glad to report is still like new. And another one that a one of my renters put up about 5 years ago is just about trash, the wood foundation is rotted down an inch or so, & the shed is rusting through a little around the bottom, I'll likely tear it down & start over. It's surely worth a little extra money & time to protect it. 😁

Built the same shed today. I must have been lucky but I built it with the included hardware on all of it. Definitely some questionable directions to say the least. I have been waiting on your next videos on the shed, I want to do more to mine as well. Earned my sub. Thanks for the video.

Great video!!!! You deserve your own show. My father purchased this shed a few days ago. All the boys (myself, brothers and pops) are outside putting this thing together and the women are cooking up Thanksgiving food and laughing at us. It's fun, to all be together (we all came down from other cities) and put this thing up for my pops.

I really love your comment. You'll have that thing together in no time. Make sure to check out the ways I modified it over time if you want to.

Building that same shed now and all has gone decent except the roof... I've taken to using self tappers and ignored the holes. Something somewhere got misaligned and I wasn't going to tear the roof off to tweak it. Haha

Hey buddy ..Thanks for all your input..although we bought the 8×10..I have watched several videos on how to...And yours being way more informative by far...I appreciate all the input and the awesome ideas of reinforcement..and of course lighting efforts!! But I do agree on some of the hardware they provide being insufficient..So I too went out and purchased longer screws and bolts...and roughly a lb of self tapping 1 inch stainless screws to use just anywhere I had a lil trouble I could easily grab one of these and keep on keeping on...But Thanks!!!!

Based on my memory of doing this over 10 years ago (a bit fuzzy) and the bits shown near the end of the video I can comment on the roof hardware issue. I believe where he shows both the long and short screws used in the same picture is the best illustration of my comment. Where the roof panel touches the support the short screws go through both the panel and into the support. There is no place where the screws are intended to go through the roof panel where it does not touch and then into the support. If there is a hole at the upper point of the wave it is to hold two pieces together but not the panel to the support under it. Even a careful reading can lead to things you notice after you do them wrong.

I want everyone seeing this video to realize he is doing all of this in a cool environment. If you live in a hot climate like Texas or Florida add some time to total project. I built my Arrow 10x14 in 5 half days Florida spring/summer. It’s sucked but you just have to have the time available. Work smart. If a storm is coming don’t try and install walls obviously. You need a helper if you are a novice. There are parts of this build you will struggle to achieve without someone else regardless of how may ladders you have etc. Just fyi. Also, the supplied screws could all be longer and I did buy longer screws and nut/bolt combo for roof. Should also mention edges are sharp on everything and you probably will get small finger cuts if you are not careful.

It was cool, but I didnt want to die. North MS summers get like South Georgia and West Texas. Florida gets hot, but it's not sticky and your shingles dont melt. 👍

Working on those. Thanks for the sub and comment! If you run into any issues with the build, let me know. I might have an idea or two. The biggest thing is to prepared and organized. Dont get frustrated and a helper would be a good idea.

You’re amazing!!! The process and feedback gives us the opportunity to be completely prepared. I’ve seen you’re modification/ upgrade videos on it and the same applies. My father and I will will be purchasing two of these units for our homes. I was wondering if you can make a video on the reinforcement you used for the door, base and the shelves you made. We wish you well in your upcoming projects.

Not of the foundation. Think of a rectangle made of 8 x 10. Then, fill in the middle with the same.

Where I live, I don't need a permit for that size shed. Does it change anything if you put it on a real foundation like you did?

im finally puttng up my arrow 10x14 after hiring a loser to help me. me and the wife are now doing it and i made the same roof beam mistake by putting the small holes down and assembling the double beam incorrectly. it was an easy fix. we're now putting in the roof panels. when done with the shed build we will add LEDs and start fortifying it with 2x4 like you did.

Do you have a video of how you did your foundation? Our ground is unlevel and may or may not have water around it sometimes. We will be using this to store lumber so your large elevated and extended foundation would be perfect.
