ac milan, barca, real madrid, lazio, valencia, deportivo and leeds held their own against them all in one season!! unbelievable how strong they once were.
VAR please. Goal with Raul's hand, incredible! I was present in the field that day. I agreed with a british fan who congratulated me at the end of the meeting. Leeds is one of the most authentic teams in England that unfortunately now lives its low hours, that 2000-2001 season almost reached glory with the Champions League semifinals. Greetings from Spain.
Real Madrid Team playing staff that they had was unreal - plus they were missing Roberto Carlos as he was on International duties. But Look at the name Leeds United had - what a side Leeds United had....
@Vinny Mac Viduka was top class, he could have played for any top team during his peak. Same for Kewell. Woodgate and Rio the same. I'd say those were the 4 world class/top class players they had. Kewell was as good as Giggs, he was just destroyed by injury and was a bit lazy at times. Viduka should have gone to a top team after Leeds, he was 29, but he didn't have the best attitude. And Woodgate was decimated by injuries (but was still great when he played), Real Madrid wouldn't have signed him otherwise. Smith was always a limited player in terms of ability. But still had a good career. Radebe was very good and could have played for any team in Europe as well. Harte was one of the most underrated offensive full backs around. Martyn was a quality goalkeeper.
The fact that this wonderful Leeds side was just allowed to disintegrate under financial pressure is an unforgivable indictment of the footballing world, especially of those entities who pretend a love of the game and were easily capable of bailing them out.
Figo - Destroyed England in Euro 2000 (with Rui Costa) Destroyed Leeds Destroyed Man U Destroyed Arsenal Destroyed Chelsea (unbelievable destruction) Destroyed Liverpool Scored past Newcastle & made a key assist Destroyed Middlesbrough Shame we never had him in the premier league....!
I know you guys say that real Madrid cheated and had a dub but still Leeds United made it to the semi-final and lost but it was karma for real Madrid because they lost to Bayern also in the semifinal
@keyuanate Johnson - No Way did Chelsea have a better team - If Leeds United from 2000 to 2001 team were all fit. They would cause Chelsea problems. They had a choice of Ferdinand, Radebe, and Woodgate - all great Centre Backs. What a midfield Leeds United had at that period. Kewell (Left-Hand side of Midfield) David Batty and Oliver Dacourt (Both Middle of the Midfield) and Lee Bowyer (Right of Midflied) - They had Viduka and Smith Upfront. Leeds United then had at the time - Nigel Martin (*England 1st choice national goalkeeper) and then Paul Robinson (*Englands 2nd Choice goalkeeper) and the dilemma as to who to pick as your Goalkeeper
People complaining like fools even though it is there today, it wouldn't have made a big difference they would attack the referee for not spotting it or say some other shit.
