I felt all 3 children of sundara cholar are unique and smarter in thier own way.. aadhitha karikalan was a great worrier who can capture and rule the world.. on other hand arulmozhi varman is basically a good person and kind hearted with great ruling capacity.. and kandavai naachiyar is the one Iron Lady master mind behind these two brothers and entire chola kingdom whose intelligence can do anything in any situation.. even though nandhini was not real and just created by Kalki to spice up the novel, she is one true example what jealousy and love for power can do.. n the length she gone to take the chola dynasty in her hand was an inspiration what a girl can do.. and vanthiyathevan was one pure soul and true friend everyone wants in thier lifetime n most probably the only guy impressed the master minded kundavai for his pureness.. n poonguzhali is small seaside girl who became the queen of Chozha kingdom oneday just for her true soul
Adhitha karikalan is actually a good ruler but he is more of a conqueror than a ruler was as arunmozhi varman is more of a better ruler than adhitha karikalan and you mistyped kundavai as kandavai

The death scene of adhitya karikalan was very heart touching,maybe it was not like that but however the love of them was very heart touching..... 1.adhitya karikalan was a good person who obeys the words of his brother Raja Rajan so yes it will be done the history may be changed but the temple and etc will would be there. @madan Gowri: last you mentioned sundar chola ruled for 14 years in history than raja raha become king. In movie they showed uttama chola/ madhurandhaka ruled which correct. Please review the video
After Sundara Cholan, it was ruled by uthama cholan(Madurantaka) and then Raja raja cholan was crowned. Also Rajendra cholan 1 (son of raja raja cholan) was called Gangai kondan, kadaram kondam etc and not raja raja cholan. He was more powerful than Raja Raja cholan. Also aadhitya karikalan was killed by pandyan country risk grants. This is as per history.

Fabulous..Watched Malayalam version on opening day and Tamil version on next day.. will watch Tamil again next week. Not with larger than life heroes or 90 percent VFX and 10 percent real kind of movie. it is a class sound and sight experience, proudly can show the next generation.
Adithya Karikalan was more of a fierce warrior when compared to PS. ( PS was known for his benevolence , Emotional intelligence and Logical strategies ). Hence AK was a difficult opponent in actual battlefield. AK's actual plan was to march towards north of India. Hence a great check mate for foreign invaders of that time, if he was alive. Rajendra Chola was believed to be his rebirth, by the opinion of people at that time in some accounts. Remember Alexander of Macedonia marched and conquered only in land. But, it is only King Rajendra, who slandered his foes on sea with incomparable distance. Now calculate yourself, what it would have been if he was alive? And one last point, he built "golden palace" for his father in Kanchipuram. That is more enough for his benevolence.

Arulmozhi aka Raja Raja is not so bloodthirsty as Adita (Karikalan) and so was the better king material. But Kallanai is a better architectural feat than Bhrahadeshwara Temple, a water engineering ancient marvel. Thats as state of the art in those days as it could have been, lasting a century! Great novel by Kalki.
Dude, Aditha Karikalan did not build kallanai. Kallanai was built by Karikala Cholan in 2nd century CE while Ponniyin Selvan story takes place in 10th century CE. In short Aditha Karikalan, brother of Rajaraja Cholan is different from Karikala Cholan who built kallanai.
