Prepare for hurricanes every year around May. Plenty of canned food and bottled water. The only thing I don’t have is a genset but haven’t lost power in 10 years of hurricanes at this house and I know that doesn’t mean it can’t happen but I keep about twenty half gallon jugs frozen during hurricane season. I think your dad has it right!

You make a lot of valid points. About the federal governmnent, my view is this. The federal government is stretched to the limit, more in debt than any of us. Everyone has to realize this. It doesn't matter who is in power, the fed is running our of money help you. That's not in the original job description. FDR added that to the job description almost 100 years ago. And it has been a screw up ever since. Your town government is probably more important to your day to day life than the fed. Contribute to it. Work with your local people. Know your neighbors.
