The Food Bank is a member of Feeding America, the nation's network of Food Banks. Feeding America has gathered stories from clients around the country. These stories give a voice to the many times silent, issue of hunger.
@@user-or6yn8pm3c the problem is there is no actual demand for degrees. Very few career paths are actually available with enough openings to be realistic. Everyone else just goes to get the degree they want without making sure it's a field that has openings
Truth. Your degree has to be something that keeps you employed. There are majors that will do this like business and accounting degrees. Also going all the way to get the PhD can raise the amount your paid. There are other ways to push yourself up the corporate ladder. Sometimes it’s about who you know. Basically, there are many ways to stand out, but if that doesn’t work, you can always do something else related to your field. It doesn’t have to be related either, you do what you got to do to make ends meet.
I volunteer at a local church food bank near my community. It fills my heart with joy to help those in need. I feel so blessed to be able to have food on my own table. Giving & helping others is the right thing to do. Kindness does not cost a thing! 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Whenever I lost a job and had to work for minimum wage, I would always go to the food industry. That way my family always ate. I worked for a pizza place and we ate a lot of pizza. Also these older teenagers should get jobs and help out the family
People....the moral of all these stories is help your local food bank, community service groups, and churches that supply the food that your neighbors need. Grow a community garden. Volunteer at your community Cannery. Volunteer at a local soup kitchen.
I have been helping at a church food pantry for many years until a year ago when I went on Social Security I used to pick up mark down meat at the grocery store and other mark down items and donate to a much smaller food pantry than the one I help at. Now that I'm just drawing Social Security I'm not able to do that but I still help at the food pantry.
Don't judge lest you be judged! You have no idea what you would do in this situation until you are there-- yes people waste their money, they don't save, they max out credit cards. many people do this. financial mistakes are made. having the humility to learn from it is good. anyone can be victim to a scam or a predator company ...laid off unexpectedly, or have a major catastrophe. yes- some people have health issues and the medicines are expensive. What are we going to judge the whole world and sit on top of our thrones and criticize? Is that what you would want if you were in that situation? Where are these people today in 2019? have they made it out? I do hope so. I hope we had more safety nets in our society to help people get out of debts and financial calamities.
Kuddo to all these families. First and formost are the kids and food shelter. No shame taking from a foood bank or government support. None at alll. Go with your heads up high. You are all providing for your children the future👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
No one wants to ask for help but it humbles you. Being humbled is a good thing. It reminds you that sometimes you need help. When you are humbled like that you can feel how someone else is feeling. There are so many families living like this everyday, all day. Yet they survive.
Please, Please, Please, if you need this then use it. The people that donate and go their to help are doing this for you'ze and all this will be wasted if you dont. No shame. Remember, their is pride in the heart before a great fall.
The most troubling part is companies like Pepsi Co, Coke, EA Sween, and Canteen throw away thousands of dollars worth of products that are totally fit for human consumption every week while struggling families go hungry. We have homeless people dumpster diving their trash bins that could only save a fraction of what they throw away.
Pretty shameful to have made more money than a C.E.O., and have no savings. These people are idiots. There own fault. Also where is the mother of the hillbilly man's kid? She should be feeding him . And how in the world does a nurse lose their job? Always in demand.
Chicago girl...don't be such a know it all. You have no idea. Some cities have an enormous amount of nursing schools and the computation is high. And as far as the person making 100k prhaps he was helping family members or friends...you just don't t know.
And maybe his wife died or left him and their child because she didnt want the responsibility anymore but he stepped up and took care of his kid which is more than what most so called men will do..maybe his wife died in childbirth you have no idea now stfu
Have you noticed banks are super automated with much less humans working? Well I shouldn't t say banks plural for I saw it in only one bank but it will catch on. More profit for the owners.
@@kimjong-un5562 It is a heck of a lot more than a lot of people make in a year, including me. If I made that much even for just one year I could do a lot with it (including socking some of it away).
@@kimjong-un5562 For what I make in a year I am up my ass in debt too :) I don't even make one quarter of that in a year, so to make even 100k for one year would be nice to me (pay off student loans, mortgage, etc. and still have money left over). I definitely would not want all their debt though, lol.
pretty houses, pretty cars, pretty things... and they are starving. Ha! Come to Europe to see how real people who starve look like. They leave in tiny rooms, not huge houses decorated, with huge bellies and crying they can't make ends meet. Give us a break. Film the people who are really poor, not fake poor.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life
In supposedly first-world countries? Such as the UK and Australia these places should not exist! I am not downplaying the vital role they serve or the people that work very hard to provide this facility, however, they are the problem rather than the solution because they maintain the myth of austerity that these governments wish to maintain. Everyone should be afforded the dignity of having enough resources to provide the basics of existence! But these places only further facilitate and enable governments to impose ever tighter austerity policies! But, the worst aspect of them is that they create a sort of underclass, this only widens the disparity between the haves and have nots, for this reason, I find them obscene.
How much negotiation, deception, and clashes necessary until all the cheese being either removed to new location or intentionally sabotage so to not let rebels live. And I haven't even began talking about water.
America, for some reason, although in pop culture praises the inner city farmers, ranchers, and water providers, when individuals actually try, the incumbent sabotage everything, even during crisis, simply because some people do not wish bending their knee as they imposed onto others.
More than half Americans live pay check to pay check, something is wrong in the system but a lot buy the narrative of work harder and you get the American dream but is not evidence of that poverty is a reality in the country with more billionaires on earth
The 1 percent have brainwashed the rest of the people that if they want a fairer system they are communists or hate America. Its why nothing will change in America.
Can anyone give me the names of a few super star athletes who make millions annually who have donated a portion of their earnings from one year to help hungry US citizens who are our of work ... the very people who were once able to buy tickets to their games? Are there such people? Just asking ...
@@Michelle-pn9xt Thank you for asking as it's something that we all need to discuss -- how we can all help in the way/s we can. I donate my time as a volunteer and food as well as money to several food banks. I imagine you do too as it seems to be a topic that interests you too. It's very gratifying volunteer work. No one should go to bed hungry. No one. Did you hear on the news about the child who told a reporter "Today is not my day to eat." We all need to work together to end hunger. 👍👍👍
Many people who are below the poverty must rely on the cheap, calorie-dense foods (think fast food) rather than more expensive foods like fresh fruits and vegetables. Just because someone is overweight does not mean he/she is getting adequate food.
stress and depression also cause weight gain. So that combined with a poor diet and there you go. A lot of poor people are overweight. It has nothing to do with gluttony.
Fresh fruits and vegetables are way more cheaper than fast food. Plus you can grow a mini garden on a windowsill or patio. Neighbors can band together and trade with each other--We've abandoned that social aspect.
People of the world we are all stressed and struggling with the prolbem that the government has put on our door step and now went we need Mr Trump to help to deal with the prolbem that the government has put on us you Mr Trump can help uu
I can't believe it. There is lot of food in the US, just look at all our overweight citizens. Compare our Black Americans with those of Africa, if you don't believe me.
@@Michelle-pn9xtThe girls in Europe are so much slimmer, when I compare them to American girls. We just have a bad diet in the US and all the fast food places is not helping us lazy Americans.
