I appreciate you showing the reference photos while you draw. It helps us beginners see where you are leaving space for the highlights and how you fill in the shadows. Great work. Thank you for sharing your process.
I love the moments where you make the decision for the structure of the facial feature. You must have an incredible amount of thinking going on at those moments. Wonderful images.
I am working on being more direct with my pen and ink (biro, dip pen, and fountain pen). Usually I lay out a light value map, and draw over it like an etching. This video is the best demonstration of direct pen drawing that I have seen to date. I have never heard of cello pens. My personal favorite is the 1.6 mm BIC Cristal followed by the BIC 4 colour pen. I enjoy the feel of the BIC medium Round Stic, but it doesn't deliver the full value range available using the Cristal pens.
This is Shira Lev; thank YOU, Chris. As amazing as usual -- I am particularly in love with your ballpoint/graphite/crayon portraits and these long videos are my obsession. ♡♡
i love watching it in real time without all the pausing for commentary, and thank you for the reference photos as well. amazing how fast you capture them in your drawings,
RU-vid's algorithm stopped showing me your video for quite some time. I had to manually go directly to your channel to find your new videos. As always, inspiring to follow by😍❤️
Amazing. Any great & maybe overlooked tips for complete beginner artists? I can't draw at all, but I'm very passioned about learning & making it my profession.
Hi Chris ! Lovely video ( like always ^^ ) it's so interesting to see the process of your art, I LEARN AT THE SAME TIME 😌🤯😁, so thank you for that. I have a question tho...hum i didn't really understood where i can buy your Artbook, I am sorry, i know that is not the topic of the video but if you or anyone can explain me it will be very nice 😊. Have a great day 🌻
Sorry if this is a silly question, but where did you get your Cell Quick ballpoint? I love how it presents! I just can't get the same effect/line quality with the regular Bic Stick ballpoints (I guess they don't give off as much ink, unless I press hard - but then I lose the sweep/flow). I can't seem to find them (in the "regular" stores I've searched). Thanks!
Not bad as a sketch itself... But talking about similarity to the originals, the face proportions are not preserved (face width, forehead height, etc.)
