Also "Atlas Shrugged" (i have only seen the movie) sucks, both because of the lies, but also putting greed in a good light, while putting empathy and generosity as a "villain trope".

***** For trying to stop letting people insult each other? I get what you are saying, and I agree with it in most chases. But I haven't quite seen people who protest over sexual harassment being punishable, or that sending death threats to people can result in police investigations, searches, and punishment. That is also technically attacking our freedom of speech, but minimizing destructive behavior, at the cost of the ones who are, at the benefit of everyone else, is a price most are willing to take. I do not call for curse words to be banned, words are just tools. That's like banning wrenches. But if good behavior, and teach responsible use, and discourage bad and destructive behavior, the society becomes better as a whole. Even if it does cost a little freedom to do so. (None of this is an attack on you'. Just friendly debating.)

***** I do apologize if my grammar is off. English is not my first language, so I do apologize if there is any confusion. What I meant was by 'discouraging' bad/destructive behavior, I meant exactly what happens to celebrities, teachers, and any other profession where one gets ridiculed/fired/similar if one says something 'very offensive'. I suppose that I misunderstood you as well. I thought you supported some sort of 'speech' being some sort of 'holy grail', never to be touched. I think we both agree, that freedom of speech, should not be directly prohibited by the law, if at all. But if someone says something 'dumb' or offensive, they should be held accountable for their words and actions. Like being fired/ridiculed. That is what I meant by 'discouraging bad behavior'. I hope this sheds some light on both of our positions in this.

***** And on RU-vid no less. Who would think of such a novel concept. And thank you. I'm honestly more of a 'speaker' rather than a writer. So I'm glad I was at least some sort of understandable. Us from some of the smaller countries, sorta needs to learn other languages, and we get influenced by English by the media and movies anyway, so its not that hard to learn once you get used to it. I guess some people want censoring, and 'thought police'... most of them with good intentions, but few who can grasp the consequences. Nothing is beyond criticism, even if that criticism is complete s**t/false. Because if you outlaw disagreement, then its 'bye bye Democracy'. There are of course other topics that should be up for discussion, like always. And I would find little reason to any problem discussing those with a civil manner. So, if you are interested... Another topic then?

@Jcrof Also, it all depends on culture. By which I mean, marrying a 15 year old isn't out of the ordinary in agricultural societies. My grandmother married my grandfather when she was 16. She doesn't tell me haunting tells of abuse and whatnot. And my grandpa isn't a fucking pedophile. In those societies, women marry early and have many children since there is no school or industrial society obligations. It's just 'have kids, plant corn, have more kids to help out' etc.

Michio Kaku didn't talk at all, I just don't think that this is his field. He spends so much time dealing with other things that he doesn't have time to get caught up in politics and on the daily occurrences that come with that territory.

@Jcrof That's what you don't get, though. Kids under 18 aren't necessarily Sunday School going, muffin baking, innocence personified. Most 18 year olds have already lost their virginity. Hell, I remember PLENTY of girls in my junior high school fawning over one of the attractive teachers. I'm not saying its okay to fuck them, I'm simply saying that sexuality isn't as static as you think it is. That, and most men pre-1800 married under 18 year old girls anyway.

@z6mrocker Who said that freedom of speech stops when you offend someone else? That kind of speech is exactly what the first amendment was designed to protect: unpopular speech. True, there are limits to that freedom, such as screaming fire in a crowded theatre, but those limits do NOT stop speech thats merely offensive. If so, nobody would be able to say anything cause someone will always be offended.

@Jcrof Now we're getting somewhere! Yeah, there is a lot of stigma around it. Some of it, I honestly believe, is absurd. It also isn't illegal (age of consent varies from state to state, and other countries have waaay lower ages than the US {which is one of the highest}). If it's 60 to 15 year old, yeah, it's weird. But so is sexuality, in general. For all the promiscuity around, Americans are still uncomfortable if it isn't malexfemale in the missionary position.

@majicjhonson theres a free podcast version, no visuals and they seem to cut out about 5 mins of it, but it IS free and more or less worth it. it updates 4 days after the broadcast tho, but yeah, there doesnt seem to be any free video versions, only the audio podcast
