I buy and sell vintage czech beads and there’s a lot of good ones and bad ones ,the last 15 years I have had to explain this to people on eBay probably a hundred times , so now I have the video when they ask I will just send them to my channel, should have done it years ago .

I lived in Natchez, Mississippi in 1961-62. A friend brought me some Mardi Gras beads. They were beautiful glass beads and we wore them with summer outfits. The beads they throw today are useless trash. Thanks for preserving these pieces of history.

That would be amazing to have been able to have real strands of Czech beads thrown for free . There are some lucky people that I hope know and appreciate what they have.

Hello from the 'burbs' of Erie PA...Found your video last evening & was enlightened. Found a glass bead necklace with Czech paper tag & appropriate closure @ a garage sale last week. I had no idea of the fascinating history behind these beautiful necklaces. Thank you SO much for sharing your knowledge! It was amazing!

Wil this is so interesting. I had no idea such a thing was out there. Being from up north this is not a known thing. I see costume jewelry bags sold sometimes at thrift stores and goodwill, that I will be checking out a little closer now. You just never know when something like this could be mistaken for costume jewelry up north here. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful thing to be collecting :)

Wow! The original Mardi Gras beads and necklaces are beautiful! I've never seen the older ones, being from MT. All I've seen is all of the cheap plastic ones on TV. Very cool!Still catching up on your earlier videos.✌🤠

Wow, these poor beads are really messed up. In Middle-Europe we found a lot of original, intact vintage Czech necklace and they are often monochrome or multicolor with a carefully chosen harmonizing color palette. The long beads (identifyid as Japanese) are also Czech. They were made in Gablonz / Jablonec - this town is famous for the Christmas ornaments made out of these long beads and small blown glass beads. They are made in every possible shapes, stars, snowflakes, animals, insects, small figurines, windmill, etc

I went to the Mardi gras in New orleans in the early 1970's and some of the necklaces were nice glass beads. But after moving several times they were lost.

Yes most krewes went to plastic in the mid to late 1960's , but people were selling repack beads they caught from years past , and stuff they bought at garage sales , i remember catching a few in the 1970's , we would come home with bags full of beads and separate them by size , and repack them and sell them the next year , and we would have a few glass ones we would keep . Good memories right there , thanks

I loved this video, so interesting. In the UK beads have become popular again partly due to people crafting/jewellery making during Covid and also designers using them more. Genuine Czech beads are stunning and I love looking at vintage Jewellery, although I don't think I would always be able to tell if they were real. Do you have any knowledge on Pony and Crow beads? I bought some vintage ones from the states on Ebay that I love. Also what is the connection with Mardi Gras and these beads? thank you
