Take a walk with me around downtown Manila Philippines. I walk around on a pretty wet day in Quiapo and Sta Cruz Manila (Avenida) area. Back in the days, Avenida was the place to go in Downtown Manila Philippines. Although it has fallen on hard times, the area is still bustling with shops and small places to eat. You will always find action around this place, that's for sure!

I was not born and raised in Manila but the city has its own old, mystic charm. I remembered scouring the streets of Ongpin with my parents looking for the best, freshly cooked hopia. Before Christmas, we would buy ham from Excelente in Echague. My mother and I went to Ma mon luk for noodle dish and siopao after shopping in Divisoria. The people are not pretentious, they hustle non-stop. I miss this part of the city, I would say it’s a beautiful chaos.

I'm living in BGC now very much in contrast with old manila, but i was born , grew up study in this area. Sometimes i go to this place to buy and eat those cheap delicious food that i used to eat during my younger years. I spent my whole day walking around, buy things that i need and take it home.

A different transformation. BGC is a high end place while Manila now like Escolta St., is almost deserted. I used to eat also along Ongpin area. It is hard to walk singlehandedly. There is that feeling of apprehension cause pickpocketers roam around the area, you are always at the lookout. We need police visibilty in the area.

I live in Jakarta, and seeing this video I can resume that Manila condition is the same as Jakarta. The difference only the transportation system, Jakarta I believe is more integrated and convinient. But the cleanliness, the society, the economy level, etc are the same. I think Kuala Lumpur is the best city in the south east asia region.

The givernment’s effort to clean the sidewalks and the streets of vendors and obstructions can only be good only on paper...that makes walking vlogs more believable and realistic....everything looks normal without the law enforcers. Tnank you sa pasyal Mr. Krypto.

I see a lot of negative comments , i went there last year, i had a blast and Filipino poeple were so kind and generous , i stayed away from the Bar scenes and night life misery, i just hang out among the locals ,i ran out to couple idiots but nothing serious. I didn't have no problems whatsoever. I'll definitely go back again.

This is the Manila that i know, before Makati was developed this is downtown, the first escalator that i stepped-on was at the Good Earth Emporium on the corner of Carriedo and Avenida(Rizal Ave) this was in the late 60's, life was easier then, cheap prices and less crowd

Philippine had not have war after WWII , her culture most influented by western like Spanish and later American , peolle are bragging and proud of speaking English when they talk to non English speaking like Japanese, Korean , Chinese and southern Asian ,but too bad she still one of the poorest in southern Asian!

I really enjoy visiting fruit stands when I’m traveling mostly in South America Ecuador 🇪🇨 there’s always exotic fruits that they don’t have in United state. Star fruit guava dragon fruit tons of different type of banana mango just to name a few. I haven’t been to the Philippines yet but that’s one thing I’m looking forward to doing

Careful don't get conned by these people on the fruit stands. My wife (shes from Philippines) went to get some grapes she asked twice the price. 80 peso a kilo she said 2 kilo. the put it in a bag and handed 500 peso over and asked her if she had 60 peso which she did and gave her 100peso back. She then said where the rest of her change they then said the grapes were 230 peso a kilo. She said you said 80 peso they pointed at the back of the cart saying the loose grape in the white bag were 80 peso a kilo CONNED. She started to kick off at them suddenly people surrounded her and told her to move on. SO BE CAREEFUL. We will never but fruit in Manila again and stick to our locals in the province
