Realistic Air Combat: DCS World online Multiplayer

First off sorry for the FPS. Something went wrong with rendering, but I fixed it for future videos.
-Playing some DCS World Mulitplayer! DCS World is an incredibly realistic combat flight simulator with many aircraft. I'm flying the SU-27 Flanker, a Russian built air superiority fighter. The SU-27 is included in the Flaming Cliffs 3 module for DCS World.

DCS World is free to play (there are two aircraft that you can fly for free) but it has a number of modules. There's a sale going on right now until September 14th that knocks off 50-60% of the prices of most modules.
Flight Sim setup:
Logitech G940 Force Feedback Stick / Throttle / Rudder System
TrackIR 5 (IR Camera that tracks your head movements)

This is a amazing flight/combat simulator, shame the modules are impossible to get working sometimes, i paid £29.99 for the A10c and it actually took a week before Eagle Dynamics activated the key they sold me!! lol Great video buddy ;)

You know the missiles you're firing are semi active? You need to keep locking on to your target so breaking defensive after firing a missile doesn't work unless you angle your RADAR to keep pointing at your target. Just wondering if you knew.

Most new Flanker pilots are completely oblivious to this. When fighting a Flanker, you can flood it with missiles and force it to go defensive. This insures your safety, and if he doesn't turn in time, he's a splash.

Damn those exhaust effects look woeful. I know its a sim and all but that shit is on some gameboy level shit. Totally static. BTW I am getting this and elite dangerous as soon as my TM warthog gets here!!!

The FPS might be from a rendering setting, it's not that laggy in game. I'll have to figure that out for the next vid

That warthog had a firing g solution on you and he did not even fire. As I've noticed with all the other aircraft you shot down. And dont tell me that the eagle you shot down did not have a radar lock on you before you got one on him he has the better radar but yet he did not fire. Do you play this game on easy or what.

hardware recommendations to run this? im a console guy so will a standard laptop cover it?

Heck no! A fairy better than decent PC is required to run this simulator so a standard laptop probably wont cover it. I recommend an Intel i5 processor or higher and also a good graphics card like AMD or Nvidia

there siko in town Gaming Technically you can run the game smoothly on lower settings with a low end PC. I run the game >30 FPS with a pentium and an r7 240

That's the HUD mode that pops up after locking up an aircraft, which selects the R-27ER (As indicated by "ER" in the bottom right) missile, a medium range, radar guided munition. He did not do the manually. By locking onto the aircraft, the HUD automatically switches

How do i join a game in a DCS server. I can join a server but then I can't get into a game. Anybody knows how I can do this?

Because you have to buy planes to fly online. Offline you have SU25, and P51 for training (no guns). But these planes are not used in multyplayer missions. If you buy Flaming Cliffs 3, you will get Su25T, Migs29, Su27 and 33, F15. This will be enough for many hours of fun, but you can also buy separately many other planes....like MiG21 or 15, Sabre, or World War 2 planes. Game is growing bigger. Soon, new engine for the game will be available... give it a try.

What I don't get is why you didn't eject after your hydraulics failed. Then you would've escaped before the second SAM hit. Nice maneuvers, though.

The engine that DCS currently uses is quite old (a bit over 10 years). However a new engine is coming out shortly called EDGE which includes a massive graphics overhaul. that's not a good idea ... CryEngine is designed to display tiny details on tiny objects, every leaf, drop of water. If you deploy it on a flight simulator, where you are watching 3000 km^2 around you, you would get 5 FPS or less

***** you are right. i didnt mean cryengine only. like overall beautiful engines like unreal 3 4. batman arkham series and bioshock those games are beautiful while not very demanding. i know what you mean. like in arma if you increase the draw distance no matter what is your gpu you get slideshow.

SMOKEMIST i was trying to say, that no engine is universal and great for everything, engines for shooters are different than engines for simulators, right because they need to display different things ... so i doubt any of these (unreal, bioshock, ...) will work fine for DCS

Stephen Arseneau The Su-27's top-down view on the display is *very* intuitive, which makes me question how realistic it is. If the Bears can sort this out in the 70s why can't the Murricans plunk it in the 15? Anyway, keep pressing the 1 key until you get what you need while flying the F-15. LCrtl-Tilde (~) cycles through the waypoints. Peace :)

The base game which comes the su25 and the tf-51 is free to play but each additional plane is sold separately as an add-on.

The combat isn't usually boring if people are flying fighters, but it's when you spend 30 mins flying back to base and rearm/refueling that can get boring imo. Then again, in this multiplayer, if you lasted long enough to need to rearm/refuel, you're probably not bored, and probably could use a beak.
