Have you considered using liquid latex for your masking? That’s what I use for my pieces, and I have pretty good results. It’s still kinda difficult to see, but removal is super easy once you find it!
Yep! I’ve since switch over to liquid latex. The one gripe I have with it though is that it seems to be a lot harder to get sharp chips and most of them end up looking a bit rounded because the latex sort of spreads out slightly before drying completely. Have you experienced anything similar?
@@brungerbuilds that’s a problem I have as well. I’ve been wanting to repaint my mando armor because of this, as I’ve seen different application methods like using crumbled up foil. That seems to give more realistic chips, so I’m definitely going to try that!
If you’re trying a new process I’d suggest testing it out on a scrap piece. It takes a bit longer but you can refine the technique before putting it on your actual prop
If the prop is of any importance than you’re absolutely correct! Since most of these builds are just going to sit on my shelf, they’re of no real importance and my goal is just to learn by doing. Sort of a trial by fire situation haha In general, I tend to lean too far into wanting everything to be perfect and so this whole channel and putting my mistakes on display has been been me purposefully practicing “not letting perfect be the enemy of good enough.” Thanks for watching though! I appreciate the feedback!
