@@PoDaBoI think that’s true but I’m pretty sure the comment was just appreciating how she didn’t want to disturb residential neighborhoods where people are trying to go to bed with a loud van
it’s refreshing to see an rv video that’s not a family of 9 living in one van with bookshelves for kids bedrooms, love how she’s embracing her independence
Take a piece of advice from a truck driver. Don't sleep in the city. If you are not familiar with the "good" areas and the "bad" areas. Don't even risk it. Just drive a few miles to get away from the city. When you stop seeing street lights and the sky is actually dark. This is more than enough mileage to ensure a quiet night. But still close enough to go get breakfast in the morning.
This is garbage advice. Not everyone can leave the city. And certain places like a metroplex leaving the city is a 2 hour drive. Not everyone lives in rural Hicksville. Park in a 24 hour gym or hospital in a good area. They usually safe and most people won’t bother you.
@@ToxicHALI don't know about other areas but in my area u gotta pay for parking at the hospital, so that may not be an option depending on where ur at
You can certainly feel grateful for having a home and feel compassion for those who don’t but please don’t feel bad for someone who wants to be an “influencer” and become RU-vid famous. She has likely chosen this life. If she is living this life out of necessity, I apologize but … until then, I do not feel sorry for her.
Same! Van/camper life would be fun for like two weeks then I’d be longing for an actual stationary home. I always feel safe and thankful watching these videos.
I always feel like I need to put roots in a place. Literally, I feel the urge to plant, to build something, to belong. Van life could be fun for those who have no cravings like that.
This is the only van-life creator I’ve seen that doesn’t have 12 kids crammed into shelves like sardines, just her, her kitten, and her dog. This is cool
There are lots of couples and singles. Cheap RV Living on RU-vid has a lot of realistic examples that do simple versions in minivans and cars. I wouldn't personally want to van life in a car though.
I have not seen one with more than two people. I have been looking through videos for a few days and I have yet to see one with more than two people so I wonder how you’re searching
@@suzigrekin8849 There are family vloggers doing the van life thing with arguably too many kids and RU-vidrs creating videos about how abusive it is. I imagine they are watching more reactionary content than actual van life content.
It’s refreshing to question the stages of your life; just don’t forget to embrace the exact reasons why you began this particular path of your purpose. Thanks for sharing ❤
Look up your closest walmart. They encourage people to car/van/rv camp in their parking lot, its close food and washrooms, and hope you'll buy something. Never been bothered in one so far.
You are making that up off the top of your head. They don't encourage camping in their parking lots at all, that just promotes drug use and theft. Not everyone camping in a walmart parking lot is going to be a youtube "influencer".
Your independence is admirable. You're an art-sy person. Whether a person is in a house, apt or van we'll ask, " What are we doing with my life" Self awarenesses is good! Your videos are inspiring for us because you're not alone. Keep the faith! Stay safe and be well!
I lived in a self built campervan for 4 years with my husband. It was a great experience, and helped us save some money, however there were a lot of difficult times too…can totally relate to how hard it is to find a suitable, free parking spot in the city
You can stay in any Truck Stop overnight, even if its in the same State as your license plates. We've done in in NY, and now in GA. Just stay out of the Trucker spots, even if you're hauling a trailer.
Walmart is a good one! A rest stop would be better than a truck stop in some cases. They have tons of parking for cars. I believe only 8 states DO NOT allow overnight parking. They were so helpful on my cross country journey!!
“Where I won’t be bothered or be a bother” love this because I’ve seen people park their mobile homes in the most random places and have no regard for anyone else
ive seen that, one tried parking at a car wash stall right next to my old job. they kept having the police called on them but they would move right before they got there as if they had a cv radio
@Alice's lab and how is that comfortable? Just waiting for the cops to be called? I wouldn't be able to properly relax if I had any concern about people being bothered or calling the cops.
@@Tyler-fp5ix if someone is truly rich, they'll get a more comfortable van than this. I met many van life folks doing remote jobs, since you're not paying the rent or mortgage, you have more money to sustain this kind of living.
@@favlam1408 dont be ignorant. some people have rich parents who EARNED their wealth, meaning they dont give it ALL to their kids--this van is plenty fine.
@@foonatt if it's the parent money and they don't want to give a lot to their kids then the kids is not rich, simple as that. Who know, she could be rich or poor, but i saw a lot of average price van having a pretty comfortable bed. It's not about the money, it's all about how you designed it. Look at videos of people who bought the van for dirt cheap and then built it up like a luxury dream van. Most people relied too much on money to do the job for them. This is why everytimes they see someone having something nice, they immediately assumed "it must be the parents"
Reminds me of my road trips in a sleeper car on Amtrak, but yours is more hardcore, as you're thugging it out without help while there's always someone there to service my shower or see what i want to eat. The bed is uncomfortable, but better than sleeping in coach. I've traveled 45 of 50 states, and there's a risk of unintentional adventures when on the road. You don't control conditions and I remember being stranded in New Mexico because the train broke down. My family never used our RV and they sold it by the time I was old enough to drive, so I take the train as my alternative.
My wife and I just bought a bus to convert to an RV. We are selling everything and hitting the road. I will be fully retired by next year when I turn 50. Let the adventure begin.

@WyattStrange it depends where the van owner goes. They wouldn't have to be kept in the small space, the dog can be let out. If the driver goes out to the middle of the wilderness they could camp out in nature and the dog would have the whole forest as a backyard.
This isn't always the case tho, here in Australia a lot of places ban dogs 🥺 Like a lot of beaches have rules here and it sucks but it's for everyone's saftey I guess.
Small people are so lucky they can actually live like this.. im tall so i could never do this even if its my dream life. I have to but a huge more expensive camper if i would want to live like this..
Can we hear more on what it’s like at night? Finding parking, how you determine safe areas, have you ever been woken up by someone or something nearby?
Walmarts are extremely dangerous and riddled with crime and criminal hotspots. A girl was kidnapped and raped from walmart where im at recenetly. People been shot, robbed. That security guards dont and cant do shit
Depends on the city too. My friend was woken up by security and was asked to move because in the city where I lived, parking at their lot at night is not allowed…

When I lived in my car in California, it was pretty hard to find somewhere to park. People will call the police or if you're in parking lots, get security.
If she has the money like others suggest and I tend to agree with she could offer home owners 20 bucks or whatever for allowance to park as a guest infront of their house. Then no one could make her move.

If she had the capacity to question her life choices she wouldn't be living in a van doing whatever the fuck knows what for a living, white woman living in a van in her mid 30s with a dog ("my fur baby!!"), no children, no stable life, no job (unless she works remote) going to a different place every night rather than settling down, I have to assume she doesn't have IRL friends either since if you are moving to a different place all the time you can't make friendships. Typical white woman behavior, when the remaining of her youth (if you consider mid 30s youth) is gone maybe she will reconsider her life choices and realize that this "independence" was just acting like a teenager in her mid 30s, but hey, I guess that at least she was able to do stuff such as...going camping more often I guess? lol
This is probably the most well designed van I’ve seen! I love the curtain separating the driving part from the living space, the sky light with the pull shade. Feels really spacious and multifunctional
i admire you so much for being realistic, down to earth, and comfortable with being alone. i’ve always envied others for having so many people around them and looked at myself as an outcast in that sense, but people like you make me realize we are just as strong and valuable as the next person is

I know a lady who used to live in a transit with three dogs. I was absolutely amazed when I saw it- she had a proper bed, chair, and everything had its proper place and she kept it spotless! We lived on the costa del so so she used bars for food and toilets and showered on the beach ten minutes away or at friends places. She eventually got a lovey big house with her job, but kept the van- I was always slightly envious of her lifestyle.
Your nightly routine sent me back 40 years when my husband and I moved into a 35' converted school bus. We lived in it for several years with 3 large dogs (2 of them half-coyotes), traveled everywhere and loved it. Our nigh time routine was almost identical to yours: we did everything we, and the dogs, had to do prior to going to sleep. My husband or I would then drive to a spot (we had several selected in an area of San Diego), park, slide curtains "mid ship" and go to bed. We left front windows without curtains so that it would not be so obvious we were sleeping there. The dogs were super quiet all night, as we'd trained them to be - they were the best part of our lives, wonderful companions and friends. It was the best 8 years of our lives! So glad you are doing this and making it work. Keep enjoying it!
I would love to do this! I just bought a van a month ago, it’s been slow going, gotta save back up now but I hope it’ll be good for me and can’t wait to get out there. Biggest hurdle though after saving up is quitting my job to have the time to do it. So scary
The bus renting thing reminds me of “The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise” my class got halfway through reading it before covid hit but it was good up until I had to stop
This is the best van-life channel because you don’t have 6 kids with a shelf each or something, it’s just you and your dog travelling around. I also like the little dog space in the bottom💀
I love this! I've lived in a van before also before it was cool 😆 but I absolutely loved it and it totally makes more sense . This is a beautiful set up! I love camping , I love living like camping. One advise: if your internal door handles, in the front seats, form a loop creating a hole, take a long metal chain and run it between the two then secure the two ends together with a lock, but keep the key in the lock for a quick release, just in case. Make sure the chain is in tension by not leaving any slack. By doing so, if someone picks one of the doors locks while you are sleeping, he won't be able to swing open the door because the chain, anchored through the other door's handle, will hold it in place. The same would apply for the opposite door. It's an added layer of security, stay safe. PS: you can buy a chain at any hardware store, they are not very expensive.
you should make a video showing this. A lot of campers would appreciate this. (not sure about leaving the key there because then they can just brake the window and have the keys)
@@kaylzshter6153That's why you lock with a quick release lock. The lock wouldn't open if the chain was tugged (and thus the lock too) and instead the human inside has to release it. Having a key in seems okay, but you could have a press release lock.
