The University of York is historically a majority white university because it exists in a historically majority white country. Just like the University of Lagos, Nigeria is a historically black university. It is also a historically middle class university because, historically, undergraduate study was a predominantly middle class pursuit. Good grief.

But if a black person was to be in a place with mostly white people they would be treated differently. Same way if a white person was to be in a place with mostly black people they would be treated differently. She is just trying to talk about her experience being in a place where everyone was different, she isn't saying that the university shouldn't be mostly white that's stupid.
